Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT is making all out efforts to reach out to different sections of the society who need help and compassion under the leadership of Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lt. Governor (Hon’ble President, IRCS) J&K-UT. Today on 25th of Nov., 2023, IRCS, J&K organized a vibrant event, featuring a Raffle draw prize distribution, First Aid Certificates, and the prestigious Life Membership Certificates. The event, held at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu.
Sh. R.K Shavan, JKAS, MD, JK Project Construction Corporation Ltd. was the Chief Guest and Ms. Rehana Tabassam, and Er Kuldeep Singh Assistant Regional Transport Officer were the Guest of Honour for the said event. The function started with the Lightening of the ceremonial lamp and presentation of bouquet to all the guests.
Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, in her address welcomed Sh. R.K Shavan, Ms. Rehana Tabassam, Er Kuldeep Singh, distinguished guests- Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT, audience, participants and students of Govt. Girls Higher secondary School, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu. She also briefed about various programme/activities carried out by the Red Cross J&K-UT and defined its role and responsibilities during disasters and first –aid trainings in society. It is pertinent to mention here that the Red Cross Raffle Draw was conducted on 8th May, 2023 and the amount collected through the sale of Red Cross Raffle Draw tickets will go towards providing essential relief, medical assistance, and support to those facing the most challenging circumstances like for the welfare of poor/needy people suffering from different ailments such as cancer, kidney, Liver, Thalasemia and others.
The highlight of the event was the Red Cross Raffle Draw prize distribution, where the winners Ms. Rafia Rasool, Sh. Gaurav Handa, Sh. Swaran Lal and Sh. Sudesh Kumar won the exciting prizes like Laptop, Voltas Window AC 1.5 Ton, LG LED 32’ and LG Microwave respectively. The Red Cross Jammu extends its heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors and participants who contributed to the success of the Raffle Draw.
In addition to the raffle draw, the event also focused on recognizing individuals who completed first aid training through IRCS, J&K-UT. Certificates were awarded to participants, acknowledging their dedication to acquiring essential life-saving skills. The organization believes that empowering community members with first aid knowledge contributes significantly to building a safer and more resilient society.
Furthermore, the event marked the distribution of life membership certificates to individuals who have registered themselves as Life Members by showing their commitment for humanitarian mission. These certificates serve as a token of appreciation for their continued dedication to making a positive impact on the community.
The Chief Guest and Guests of Honour were presented with the Momentoes by the General Secretary. Further in their speech, they congratulated Red Cross for conducting such a successful programme and briefed that there is much more scope of doing activities in a coordinated manner and more scientifically so that we reach and cover the maximum number of people who need Red Cross support. They added that this is a unique organization which takes cares of every section of society especially the sick and the suffering and sought Cooperation of all departments and members of public in reaching out to the unreached.
In the end, Sh. Rohit Khajuria thanked the Guests for giving their valuable time to Red Cross and also thanked distinguished gatherings for making this day special. He also appreciated the efforts of Ms. Rehana Tabassam for motivating the commercial vehicle drivers to attain Red Cross training. He further said that this organization remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the community and looks forward to continuing its efforts in promoting health, safety, and humanitarian values.
