Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with National Governing Body of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology (ISBTI) celebrated World Blood Donor Day on 30th Jun. 2018 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu . The theme of this year is “BE THERE FOR SOMEONE ELSE – DONATE BLOOD SHARE LIFE’ Shri Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion and felicitated the NGOs / Voluntary Blood Donors who have organized blood Donation Camps / donated blood more than 25 times in their lives .
While speaking on the occasion, Sh. FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DRIVERS

Three days First Aid training programme organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre, Jammu concluded on 17th May, 2018 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu. The training was started on 14th May, 2018 in which 25 Commercial Vehicle Drivers took part in the First Aid training. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the employees Drivers/ Conductors of Commercial vehicles in order to save the precious lives during untoward incidents. “A stitch in time save Nine”.
The training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely Dr. Ranbushan Singh and Dr. Rajinder Thappa assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist. The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officers, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist. Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region briefed the participants about “What Red Cross Society is & What it Does” and how they can also be of big help to the passengers during any medical emergencies and also accidental victims and can save precious lives of others by applying the knowledge acquired during the Training. FIRST AID AWARENESS PROGRAMME ORGANIZED BY RED CROSS

Two programmes of One day First Aid awareness were organized by IRCS, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India) at Air Force School, Jammu and Carmel Convent School, Kunjwani, Jammu respectively in which students and staff of both institutions were given awareness about First Aid by the experts. Further, Carmel Covent School also organized a function in connection with celebration of World Red Cross Day in the school premises and presented a colorful programme highlighting the history of Red Cross which was applauded by the audience. To provide proper Health Care facility at the door step, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Punjab National Bank, Zonal Office, Jammu organised two Medical / Eye Check-up Camps at R.S.Pura and Shamachak (Marh) Jammu on 12-04-2018 In the Camps large number of patients of R.S. Pura Tehsil and Shamachak (Marh) areas of Jammu District (general/eye) were examined by a team of Red Cross Doctors viz. Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Anaesthetist Consultant, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Dr. Subash Chander, Dr. Seema Raj and Dr. Jyoti assisted by Sh. Kuldeep Bhat, Sr. Opth. Asstt., Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist, Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist , Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, Sh. Sudershan Singh and Ms. Sureshta Devi. Free Medicines were also provided to the poor patients. General Managers of Punjab National Banks, R.S.Pura and Shamachak inaugurated the above said Medical Camps and appreciated the efforts of Red Cross for organizing Medical Camps and hope that in future Red Cross also support PNB for organizing Medical Camps. Two First Aid training programmes of four days organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre, Jammu at NITS Polytechnic, Miran Sahib, Jammu and at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu respectively concluded on17th Nov. 2017 The training were started on 13th Nov. 2017 in which more than 35 students of NITS Polytechnic, Miran Sahib, Jammu and commercial Vehicle Drivers took part. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the employees of Corporate Houses and Drivers/ Conductors of Commercial vehicles in order to save the precious lives during untoward incidents. A first batch of four days First Aid training programme concluded at Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu on 11th Nov. 2017. It was started on 7th Nov.2017 by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre, Jammu in College ptremises wherein about 60 students of the College participated. Mahavir International Society Faridabad & Jammu Organises Blood Donation Camp

Mahavir International Society Faridabad & Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, District Red Cross Society, Reasi and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu at Govt. Hr Sec. School Katra on 28-10-2017. A total number of 50 Units were voluntarily donated by the members of Mahavir International Society Faridabad/ Jammu. The beauty of the camp was that all the donors were fully motivated and they came all the way from Faridabad, NCR and other States to donate blood and save precious lives. This is the3rs such camp and has motivated many locals also to come forward and donate blood. Sh. National Voluntary Blood Donor’s Day Celebrated at GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu

NSS Unit of Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu, Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu and J&K State Aids Control Society, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 6-10-2017 on the occasion of Celebration of National Voluntary Blood Donor’s Day in the College premises in which about 30 Units of Blood were donated by the students of the College.

The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Kaushal Smotra, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Red Ribbon Club of the Government MAM College Jammu in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC Jammu and JKSACS, Jammu organized a blood donation camp followed by an awareness and motivational lecture on voluntary blood donation. The camp as well as awareness lecture was organized to mark National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with the theme – “Blood Donors bring a ray of hope. Be a regular Donor”. Principal of College, Dr Ajeet Angral along with chief guest, RC Puri, Secretary Regional Red Cross Society Jammu and resource person, Dr Vijay Sawhney, Head, Blood Transfusion and Medicine Department, GMC Jammu, inaugurated blood donation camp. More than 41 units of blood were voluntarily donated by the students, as well as the staff members of the college donated the blood on the occasion. Dr Shiveta Gandotra, Prof Richa Gupta and Prof Sajaad Iqbal Khan were also among the blood donors. Dr Vijay Sawhney delivered a very informative lecture where he quoted “Blood Dan as Maha Dan” This was followed by a very interactive session with students.

National Voluntary Blood Donors Day Celebrated at Radisson Blu

To Celebrate the National Voluntary Blood Donor’s Day on October 1, 2017 in a befitting manner, series of Voluntary Blood Donation Programmes have been planned by IRCS, Jammu Region in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department, GMC and JKSACS, Jammu. First such programme was held at Hotel Radisson Blu on 01-10-2017 where in more than 37 staff members including GM Sh. Chander Bhushan Singh donated the blood. The Camp was organized under the supervision of Mr. Arpan Yadav, H.R. of the Hotel. Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region who was present on the occasion, appreciated the devotion, enthusiasm of the Blood Donors who came forward and donated blood without hesitation. He also threw lights on the importance of blood donation. The team of Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu was headed by Dr. Vijay Sawhney, HOD, Blood Bank assisted by Dr. Lubna , Dr. Vidhushi other Medical and Paramedical staff. RED CROSS HOLDS FREE DIABETES AWARENESS CAMP

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organised a free diabetes detection/awareness camp at Canal Road Walkway for the morning walkers today i.e. 16th Sept. 2017. The Camp was organised to make the people aware of the growing effects of diabetes keeping in view, the increase in the number of patients of diabetes during the last few years as India being considered as the diabetic capital of the World with as many as 50 million people suffering from type-2 diabetes, has to face great challenge but the timely detection and right management can go a long way in helping patients lead a normal life. In the Camp 110 persons were checked up for the Blood Sugar by a team of Sr. Laboratory Technicians of Red Cross Diagnostic Lab. whereas Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Consultant Anaesthetist of Red Cross delivered motivational lecture to the morning walkers about the growing effects of Diabetes. The Camp was organised under the supervision and guidance of Hony. Secretary. The Sr. Citizens, prominent persons and morning walkers of the area of Bhagwati Nagar, Bakshi Nagar ,Shakti Nagar, Talab Tillo, Jammu etc. appreciated the efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region for organising such camps in the early hours from6.00 A.M. onwards and hoped that such camps will certainly bring a change in the life style of the public at large for their benefit in future. The 2nd batch of Four days First Aid training Course organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), concluded on 24th Aug. 2017 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu . The training started on 21st , 2017 in which 29 teachers of five Districts of Jammu Division viz. Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar took part in the First Aid training. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the Teachers of Govt. Schools who would work as counselors in their schools to carryout Red Cross Activities and be useful in providing First Aid during any eventuality. The training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Consultant Anesthetist, Dr. Munish Manocha, Ortho. Surgeon, Hospital ,Amritsar, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, CMO, Govt. While speaking on the occasion, they emphasized that every individual should undergo First Aid training so that they could be helpful to the society during any emergences. They also appreciated the efforts being put in by the Red Cross Society in imparting First Aid training and hoped such endeavors will continue in future also. While delivering a motivational lecture on the subject , Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region emphasized for making the First Aid as mass movement and compulsory in School curriculum. He also said that First Aid is an important skill that helps to reduce fatalities and enables the faster treatment of injuries. It also has an important role to play in providing staff and pupil with sense of purpose and achievements giving them skill that will potentially save lives. The First Aid knowledge is invaluable for both as individual and for the community. He also conveyed thanks on behalf of Indian Red Cross Society, Regional Branch, Jammu to the team of Sr. Doctors who sparing their valuable time to provide First Aid training and also to the Director School Education, Jammu and Director, Health Services, Jammu for deputing Teachers and Doctors respectively for making the programme a mass movement. He also emphasized upon for inclusion of First Aid as one of the chapter in the classes so that children could be taught the importance of First Aid training during eventualities.

Create large pool of Red Cross volunteers:

Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu, here today. IGP Jammu, Dr. S. D Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Rajeev Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Ravinder Kumar, Honorary Secretary Red Cross, R. C. Puri besides senior officers of the concerned department were present in the meeting. Divisional Commissioner held detailed review of the action taken on the decisions taken in the last meeting of the committee and also of the activities carried out by the society. Stressing the need to make Red Cross activities more meaningful, Divisional Commissioner emphasized that the need of the hour is to build a large pool of volunteers for ensuring participation of people from the grass root level. All the Deputy Commissioners were asked to create a conducive environment for mobilizing resources for the humanitarian activities of the Society. Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon DCs to ensure take requisite steps to maximize participation in the Red Cross activities and contributions to the society. He directed the concerned that before providing driving licenses to the passenger vehicle drivers the 'first aid training certificate' should be made mandatory so that as in case of accidents they can provide first aid to injured people It was given out in the meeting that the Regional Branch is regularly conducting First Aid/FMR Training programmes for workers of Industries/Corporate /Business Houses, Commercial Vehicle Drivers, Lecturers, Masters & Teachers of Education Department. Also the Red Cross is conducting four days First Aid Training Programmes for the Commercial Vehicle Drivers before issuing of licence by the RTO.

RED CROSS IMPARTS FIRST AID TRAINING

Four days First Aid training programme organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre, Jammu concluded on 2nd June, 2017 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu under the directions of Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari ,IAS, Chairman Regional Red Cross Society and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu . The training was started on 29th May 2017 in which large number of Commercial Vehicle Drivers and Red Cross volunteers took part in the First Aid training. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the employees of Corporate Houses and Drivers/ Conductors of Commercial vehicles in order to save the precious lives during untoward incidents. The training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely Dr. Ranbushan Singh, Consultant Anaesthetist and Disaster Management Specialist, Red Cross Society, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, CMO, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Jammu and Dr. M.L. Sharma (Retd) DMO,. whereas Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu conducted the exam assisted by Mrs. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist . While delivering a motivational lecture on the subject , Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, appealed to the trainees especially the youth to come forward and join this humanitarian cause by donating blood during any exigency. World Red Cross Day Celebrations on 8th May,  2017

As a part of World Red Cross Day Celebrations, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organises  various  Medical Check up Camps in slum areas ( Viraj Bal Bhawan School, Khanpur, Nagrota, Govt. Middle School, Tange wali Gali,Kachi Chawni, Jammu, Canal Road for Morning Walkers and at  Red Cross Attendants Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu   during the week to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of “ Sir Henry Dunant”  the founder of Red Cross Movement. The details of the camps are as under:-  
  1. At Viraj Bal Bhawan, KhanPur,  Nagrota,  152 patients ( general, Eye & Immunization)
  2. Govt. Middle School ,  Tangewali  Gali, Kachi Chawni, Jammu 50 students  ( Eye)
  3. Canal Road, Jammu,  120  Diabetes detections  tests conducted of Morning Walkers of   the areas of Bhagwati Nagar, ShaktiNagar, Bakshi Nagar and  Talab Tillo, Jammui
  4. Red Cross Attendants Sarai, Mahespura Chowk, Jammu  more than 200 patients  of  Ortho, Neuro , General, Eye and  Diabetes patients in collaboration with Hartej Hospital, Amritsar.
 

In the   above said camps, Dr.Munish Manocha, Sr. Consultant of Ortho from Max Hospital, Amritsar, Dr.  Amit, Neuro Surgeon from Hartej Hospital,  Amritsar  assisted by Mr. Arjun, Multipurpose  Assistant , Dr.  Ranbhusan Singh, Anaesthetist  Specialist, Dr. Kavita Nijohn of Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by   Smt. Kanchan Devi, Supervisor Pharmacist,       Smt. Tripta Devi, LHV,Sh. Surinder Vermani, Supervisor Lab. Technician, Smt. Monica Sharma,  Sr. Lab. Technician, Sh. Mohd Anwar, Sr. Lab. Technician , Sh. Anil Kumar, Supervisor Ophthalmic  Technician and Sh. Kuldeep  Bhat, Sr.  Ophthalmic Technician    of Red Cross  rendered their services   for the purpose.

 

During  these  camps, a motivational  lecture was  also delivered by  its Hony. Secretary   in presence of   the gathering  including  S/Sh. Sita Ram Sharma, Dinesh Gupta ,S.C. Bali, Member Executive Committee , IRCS, Jammu Region and Sh. K.L.Verma  a Social Worker/ Life Member.

Further,  an impressive function was also organised by Carmel Convent  School, Kunjwani, Jammu in which Sh. R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary was  the Chief Guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion  he appreciated the School  authority for  organising  the World Red Cross Day and hoped that   this  noble mission shall be carried out in  future too.  Sh. S. C. Bali, Member Executive Committee , IRCS, Jammu Region was also present on the occasion.

Indian Red Cross Society Region Jammu organized two days Red Cross Mela cum Raffle Draw-2016-17 on  4th & 5th March,2017 at Gulshan Ground, Jammu which was inaugurated by   Mtr. Mehbooda Mufti, Hon’ble Chief Minister, J&K State   in presence  Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner,  ( Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Region) Jammu, Dr. S.D.Jamwal.IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Sh. Mohd Shafi Rather ,IAS (Retd) Hony. General Secretary, IRCS, J&K State Branch,  various  Sr. Officers of Govt. Departments, Principals of Govt. Colleges of Jammu City, Executive Committee Members of IRCS, Region Jammu , Executive Secretaries of District Red Cross Committees of Jammu Region and various NGO’s Head. The Hon’ble Chief Minister went around  each stall put up by various organizations including Army,Para Military Forces , various business Houses etc. and appreciated the efforts put in by Red Cross Volunteers and Students of  various  Colleges in bringing   varied elements to the Mela. She also took part  in many  games organized in Red Cross Mela.  The Hon’ble Chief Minister  congratulated the Red Cross Society for organizing   such  an  interactive event. The beauty of the Mela was  that  all the  District Branches of Jammu Region   by displaying their products, cultural shows, and the  activities rendered  for the  welfare of humanity . Many NGO’s also exhibited their talent through their artists besides mediation  programme conducted  by  Art of Living  NGO. The spirit of carnival was well and  alive at the  venue . People from all walks of  life visited the Mela and enjoyed a lot . The main attraction  of the Mela was Exhibition of arms and ammunition put up by the Army . Joint Display of Patriotic Songs by  Schools awakened  the spirit  of Nationalism besides this inter school dance , painting, singing, competitions ,  Cultural items  presented by various schools of the Regions  were also  organized in the Mela and  the rolling  Trophy was won by District Rajouri. Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu highlighted the role of Red Cross  as first responder in the State. In the Closing Ceremony on 5th Mrch,2017  Hon’ble  Governor, Shri N.N.Vohra was the Chief Guest.  Hon’ble Governor  interacted with   all the stall holders and envinced interest  in the products  displayed   by them.  Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Governor  exhorted  to expand the ambit of activities throughout the State, Mobilization   for larger resource generation  needs to be done. The Hon’ble  Governor appreciated the activities carried out by the Red Cross  and stressed upon all the units of  the Red Cross to work hard in alleviating  the  human sufferings. A meeting to discuss and review arrangements for ensuing Red Cross Mela to be organized on March 4 and 5 was held here. The meeting was attended by the senior officers of various departments, members of Red Cross Executive Committee and other concerned officials. The meeting discussed in detail the security arrangements, regulation of the traffic, parking space, uninterrupted supply of electricity, installation of water points and water tanks at the venue for smooth conduct of the Mela. During the meeting, concerned officers of Education Department were asked to ensure maximum footfall of youth of the region and instill spirit of voluntarism in Youth Red Cross volunteers besides motivating the students for participation in cultural programmes alongwith manning of stalls. Various departments including JKTDC, Horticulture, Handloom, Tourism and Industries were asked to showcase their activities /sale of products during the Mela. In order to ensure that the event encompasses the twin benefit of being informative as well as educative, health services, NHM and RDD were also asked to ensure that they disseminate their schemes and programmes to the public visiting during the event

Div Com asked Director School Education to issue circulars regarding first aid trainings along with collection of Red Cross Fund at the scale of Rs 5 per student for primary school and Rs 10 for secondary school and colleges, 30% of this total amount collected by the schools shall be retained during the financial year by the institution for activities of Red Cross while 70% of the amount would be transferred to the District Red Cross Committee. While 50% funds collected by colleges and universities are to be deposited with Indian Red Cross Society and 50% can be used by the institution for carrying out Red Cross activities. Dr Kotwal also directed Director School Education to formulate a data base for the unutilized Red Cross funds available with the Government schools and deposit the same with the society. The Principals of private schools were asked to submit a training calendar pertaining to activities of Red Cross society within 10 days . Earlier Sh. R.C. Puri, Secretary Region Office IRCS apprised through a power point presentation about society’s role in activities including blood donation camps ,emergency services , nursing services, Red Cross Mela ,Yoga Day Celebrations, Distribution of Dust Bins to colleges in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, cash assistance to accident victims, immunization camps, free medical camps, free diabetes detection camp, red cross dispensary . Fortune Inn Riviera, Jammu organized a Blood Donation Camp today the 26-12-2016 in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu where number of employees including Mr. Namit Sinha, General Manager of the Hotel also donated blood.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region who was also present on the occasion, appreciated the devotion, enthusiasm of the employees who come forward and donated for blood without hesitation especially Management of Fortune Inn Riviera. Sh. R.C. The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India) Regional Centre, Jammu organized 4 days’ First-Aid Training Programme specially designed for the Commercial vehicle Licence holders at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu on the directions of Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Chairman of IRCS, Jammu Region (Divisional Commissioner) Jammu. The training started on 19th December, 2016 and concluded on 23th December, 2016 in which 30 participants took active part. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the Drivers/Conductors in order to save the precious lives during un-toward accidents. The training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa, CMO, GMCH, Jammu, Dr. M.L. Sharma, DMO (Retd.), Sh. R. Vijay Magotra, Social Activist, Dr. Simriti, Medical Officer of Red Cross Dispensary whereas the test of the trainees was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer assisted by Smt. Tripta Devi, LHV.

Sh. M. S. Rather, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K State Branch presided over the valedictory function while addressing to the trainers. Sh. Rather said that after acquainting First Aid Training are now assets of their families and society and provide First Aid to the injured during any eventuality.

Medical College, Jammu organised a Blood Donation Camp at Talwara Reasi District. Large number of civilian population of the area also participated in the Camp. Jawans of Rashatriya Rifles voluntarily donated more than 68 units of blood on the occasion under the supervision of O.C. Rashatriya Rifles. The team of Blood Transfusion Department Govt. Medical College was headed by Dr. Lubna. Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary ,while speaking on the occasion explained in detail the need and importance of Blood donation, its periodicity, effects/benefits on the health of the donor and above all the noble cause of saving precious human lives. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized in its special drive for awareness and detection of Diabetes among the General masses the 4th camp was organized today on 3rd December, 2016 in the wee hrs of morning at Manda , Jammu where the morning walkers and other civil society persons were provided awareness about Diabetics, its causes and effects on the human health and the remedies for leading a healthy life. The sugar fasting tests of 110 numbers of persons were conducted on spot. The Camp was organized under the directions of Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region by the Red Cross team.

First-Aid Training Programme for the Commercial Vehicle Drivers/ conductors

The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India) Regional Centre, Jammu organized 4 days’ First-Aid Training Programme specially designed i.e. Theory-cum-Practical for the Commercial Vehicle Drivers/ conductors at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu on the directions of Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is also the Ex-officio Chairman of IRCS, Jammu Region. The training started on 7th November, 2016 and concluded on 11th November, 2016 in which 53 participants took active part. The training is being imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the Drivers/Conductors in order to save the precious lives during un-toward accidents. The training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa, CMO, GMCH, Jammu, Dr. Munish Sr. Orthopaedic Surgeon, Max Hospital, Amritsar, Dr. M.L. Sharma, Ex- DMO, and Dr. Simriti, Medical Officers of Red Cross Dispensary whereas the exam of the candidates was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer ,Red Cross Dispensary assistd by Shri Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist. The training programme was conducted under the supervision of Mr. R. General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State Branch Chaired a meeting of Regional Red Cross Society in his Office Chambers at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu on 3rd October,2016. Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and the District Secretaries of Red Cross Branch of Jammu Region participate. The meeting was called in the context of the present situation where inhabitants of large number of villages on border areas have temporarily been evacuated and adjusted in make shift structures in safer areas.
It was revealed in the meeting that the Regional Red Cross Society has planned a programme for conducting first aid training of the concerned villagers so that they are able to help themselves in case of any eventuality. Besides, the District Secretaries are also in the process of procuring the relief material required for the affected people. It was also revealed in the meeting that the Regional Red Cross have paid an amount of Rs.18 lac as medical support and other financial assistance to poor/ needy persons. Apart from this 16 No. Blood Donation Camps were conducted in collaboration with Sant Nirankari Mandal, Amar Ujalla Foundation and concerned Blood Banks. During the last few months 641 number of Commercial vehicle Drivers/ conductors and General masses who have been imparted First Aid Training besides this 140 number of employees of different departments and Red Cross Volunteers under FA/FMR programme imparted First Aid Training at five districts of Jammu Region. Child Line under the ages of Indian Red Cross Society was instrumental in tracing and getting admitted 123 Children from within and outside the State in various Homes. 174 children of Slum area were got admitted in Govt. School and all kind of support, material and financial assistance was provided by the Red Cross

Women College, Parade which concluded today i.e. 30th Sept.,2016. 64Girls-College students who were imparted the training were quite enthusiastic and took active part in the demonstration and gained the practical experience besides getting theoretical knowledgeand are now trained First-Aiders. The said training was imparted under the directions of Dr.PawanKotwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and supervision of Mr. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region. Dr.Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer, GMC Jammu, and Dr.Simriti Medical Officers of Red Cross Dispensary imparted training and Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Red Cross assisted by Shri Des Raj and Joginder Sharma conducted the exam. The main objective of this very First-Aid Training was to make every one aware how to protect themselves from further loss in case of accidents, border firings, heart related sudden problems. More particularly, how to lift an injured and a serious patient etc. and board him/her on the first available means of transport. Besides, how as a trained First-Aider one can provide immediate help in the first Golden Hour to the sufferers during natural calamities, accidents and disasters etc. by applying the tit-bits learned during the training. Dr. Aruna Dubey, College Principal also threw light on the importance of First-Aid Training and impressed upon the Trainees to remember the tips given and extend help to the needy at the time of any emergency by providing First-Aid, that will be your biggest contribution to the Society if you are instrumental in Saving precious Lives."

Dr Kotwal solicited cooperation and contribution from banks to further strengthen this organization so that Red Cross Society can continue to take immediate action and provide first relief, cash assistance and other support to the victims of disasters, accidents etc. During the meeting, Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the banks to contribute in growth and development of the areas they are operating in. He asked them to come forward and take up one or two activities each in local areas as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Stressing on the need to train citizens in essential first aid, he asked the banks to impart first aid training via Red Cross Society to their employees. He said that banking institutions are present across the region having wide reach and this measure will be a significant step in training every citizen as a ready 'First Aid Force'. Dr Kotwal said that Red Cross has always been in the fore front in helping the needy, impoverished people and asked them to contribute in the functioning of this philanthropic organization by means of sponsoring medicines, prosthetics and other aids, life saving equipments, tri-cycles etc besides cash contributions out of their CSR. Discussing the annual Red Cross Raffle-cum-Mela, he said that this year the society is making grand preparations to increase the amount of funds generated by the event and is therefore printing over 5 lakh tickets. He listed out various ways in which the banks can contribute to the event by means of donations, sponsorship and/or taking up individual elements of the event. The training was  successfully imparted to more than 30  employees of various Departments and Volunteers from different NGOs by BLS trained Dr. Sanjay Sharma,  Dr. Bias Dev, Dr. Rajinder Thappa,   and  Dr. Simriti with the aim  to create a team of trained  volunteers who could be  useful to  save lives at the time of exigencies  by providing  first aid.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rajeev Sharma, CMO, Samba thanked Regional Red Cross Society  for organizing such training programme which will  be  useful in emergency situations at the time of Motor  Vehicle accidents in the hilly belt/ National Highway where medical facilities are not adequately available.

The four day first medical responder cum first aid training course organised by district administration with the support of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was concluded at Community Hall Maitra here today, District Development Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Aijaz was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the four day training programme by the IRCS, Jammu and assured of all help by the district administration. He called for the updation of the training and underlined the need for availability of more and more sophisticated equipments to the volunteers. A four day First Aid/ First Medical Responder Course training programme organized by Indian Red Cross Society supported by IRCS NHQ New Delhi concluded on 2nd June, 2016 at District Hospital Doda. Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar was chief guest on the occasion. The training was successfully imparted to the teachers, ASHA workers, VLW’s, social workers and volunteers from different NGOs by the resource persons of health department with the aim to create a team of trained people who can save lives in the time of emergency by providing first aid without any medical equipments.
Speaking on the occasion, DC congratulated the district health authorities along with Red Cross society for organizing such training programmes which can be useful in emergency situations. Indian Red Cross Society, Regional Branch, Jammu  started Four days First Aid/ FMR Training  Course  to the  employees of various departments of Jammu District in the first instance   today the 25th May,2016  at Red Cross Auditorium, Kachi Chawni, Jammu under the aegis of POA Project sponsored by Indian Red Cross Society, National Head Quarters, New Delhi   whose services  would  be utilized after completion of the said training at the time of  any  exigency during  accidents/natural calamities. The Training programme was  inaugurated  by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Region) Jammu . While  speaking on the occasion , Dr. Pawan Kotwal   stressed upon the participants to take   part in the said training with zeal and   zest   in order to  utilize their services  as and when required. He also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts taken by the Red Cross for imparting First Aid Training which is mandatory for every licence holder especially to the commercial vehicle drivers. In commemoration of first Foundation Day, Mahavir International Society (Jammu centre) organised blood donation camp at Nageshwar Parshvanath Jain Mandir Bahu Plaza here on 1st May, 2016 (Sunday). The camp was organised in association with Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region, Blood Transfusion Society Department GMC and J and K SACS. The camp was inaugurated by R.C Puri Secretary along with Vinod Jain Chairman of Society along with member associated of the society. The immense efforts of Jain society resulted in collection of more than 90 units of blood on the occasion. Rajni Jain, General Secretary read all the achievements and work carried out by the society during one year’s span of time. She said that society works on the principal “Love All – Serve All” and is dedicated to social upliftment focusing on economically weaker section of society. She appraised that society is coming up with some new projects for the betterment of the unprivileged members of society. Praising the important contribution and timely help made by the society to needy and poor, Puri lauded the efforts of society especially in contributing for blood donation camps. He said the real significance of this humanitarian deed can only be appreciated by those who come to the hospital during distress, have no support system of their own, it proves critical for the life saving of the recipients. Vinod Jain highlighted the importance of the blood donation and lauded the volunteer efforts of donors especially youths. Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, RS Pura on 20-3-2016.
Devotees of the Mission participated in this camp to spread the message of Baba ji that “Blood should flow in veins and not in drains”. As many as 230 volunteers came forward for donation but medical team obliged only 100 volunteers.
The camp was inaugurated by MLA Suchetgarh, Sham Lal Choudhary, who while speaking on the occasion, described the camp a great way towards the service of humanity and blood donation, a supreme donation.
The camp was attended by several dignitaries including Dr Renu Bala from Blood Bank, GMC Jammu, Sh. R.C. Puri, Honorary secretary, Indian Red Cross Society and many others.

Red Cross imparts First Aid Training Course to the School Bus Drivers

The Training has been made mandatory for Commercial Vehicle Drivers in order to save the precious lives during un -toward accidents. The training was imparted by the well versed & Senior Doctors namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Chief Causality Officer of Govt. SMGS Hospital , Jammu, Dr. Munish, Sr. Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Rohini Bhan & Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officers of Red Cross Dispensary besides Dr. B. Tasneem. Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Sajay Hajra ,Adjutant of above said Brigade donated blood during the Camp. Highlighting the importance of Blood Donation, Col. Bal said it is a great service to the mankind and every one should donate blood voluntarily as many times as possible to save the human lives. He appealed the Jawans to come forward and join this humanitarian cause by donating blood in future also. Col. NSS Unit of Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu, Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu and J&K State Aids Control Society, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp today at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.

The Blood Donation Camp was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu. While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kiran Bakshi appreciated the efforts made by the NSS Unit of the College for organizing the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp and stressed upon other students of the College to come forward and donate blood voluntarily for humanitarian cause.

In view of the prevailing extreme winter conditions and inclement weather, 26 Tiger Division and Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in a joint venture organized Winter Aid Relief Camp in order to provide some sort of succour to the border people at various places of the border area in R.S. Pura Sector at Samka, Satowali and Sai etc. and distributed number of Blankets, Cotton Mattresses, Towels, Quilts etc. among the needy/poor people by Brig.S.K.S. Chauhan of Miran Sahib Brigade in presence of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Sh. Sita Ram Sharma, Member, Executive Committee, IRCS, Jammu Region.

While speaking on the occasion Brig. Chauhan appreciated the timely support extended by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in shape of Winter Aid relief items for the welfare of the poor/needy people of Border village Samka, Sai and Satowali etc. and hoped that such type of support shall be continued in future also.

Acknowledging the commendable work accomplished by the sitting Honorary Secretary Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region R.C Puri, Governor Jammu and Kashmir, N.N Vohra (President Indian Red Cross Society J and K) has accorded him two years extension asking him to continue with the exemplary services in the interest of the people of this region.

Considered among masses as a philanthropist, R.C Puri has won accolades umpteen numbers of times by leading the social work and people's cause in a herculean manner. It was his zeal and dynamism that steered the IRCS to new heights and people in distress now like to take shelter under the realms if the benevolent organization.

It is pertinent to mention here that Puri assumed the charge as Honorary Secretary IRCS Jammu region on 28th December 2013. This day is considered as renaissance for the organizations Jammu chapter as IRCS after this date played pivotal role in providing succour to needy and everyone in the society started turning towards this organization for meaningful help.

Few instance when IRCS Jammu Chapter provided distinguished services were relief operations during recent incessant rains and consecutive floods, unprovoked Pak border shelling etc. The Organization exhibiting unmatched confidence reached out to the people affected by floods and Pak shelling by providing training on health issues besides maintaining continuous supply of medicines at the extreme borders and the far off hamlets of Jammu Region. R.C. Puri’s previous tenure shall also be remembered for record number of blood donation camps and for spreading health related awareness among the underprivileged. He never shied away from involving other similar NGO’s into the mission for augmenting succour to the needy. Expending his calibre to the fullest in garnering kindness for the destitute and victims of tragedy whether manmade or natural is the essence of his personality. Recently, through a rigorous campaign, he managed to get approval for making first aid training mandatory for the commercial vehicle drivers by the IRCS’s Jammu Region.

The two years extension to RC Puri is widely hailed by the members of civil society and it is anticipated by the prominent people here that in the coming days IRCS shall venture into more innovative and noble causes for helping the needy.

Threadbare discussions were held on various issues including  activities of the Regional Red Cross Society for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15, budget proposal for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16, audit statement, continuation of family welfare centre and free red dispensary for the year 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16,  Red Cross Mela/Raffle Draw of Regional Red Cross Society for the year 2014-15, establishment of Red Cross offices in districts and Jan Aushadhi Generic Drug Store, etc. Divisional Commissioner directed the functionaries of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region to conduct First Aid Training camps and Blood Donation camps on regular intervals. He stressed upon the members to ensure recovery of cent percent collection from educational institutions by District Red Cross Committees regarding JRC/YRC/ Voluntary contribution. He further stressed upon all the concerned to mobilize the resources of their districts by organizing Red Cross Melas in their respective districts. Divisional Commissioner also discussed the finalization of date for Red Cross Mela and said that the objective of the Mela is to highlight the fundamental principles of Red Cross movement, which include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary services, unity and universality. The revenue generated from the Mela would be utilized for charitable social causes, the Divisional Commissioner added. SMGS Hospital, Jammu distributed 100 Kits to Newly Born Babies (Soft & Hygienic Infant Wear) which include Baby Mattress, Baby Jacket, Baby Cap, Baby Diaper and Baby Blanket in Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu on the Eve of “Children Day” on 14th Nov., 2015 in order to save the newly born babies from infection diseases. The items were provided and distributed to the newly born babies by Mrs. Rajni Jain, Secretary, Mahavir International, Jammu Centre in presence of Mrs. Leena Jain, Member and other Members. RED CROSS STARTS FIRST AID TRAINING
gk Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in continuation to its campaign for First Aid started four days First Aid Training Course under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association Regional Centre at Red Cross Bhawan, kachi Chawni, Jammu on 16-11-2015. Number of commercial drivers of heavy/medium motor vehicle are taking part in the said training course with the motive that it is mandatory for all the driving licence holder to go through detailed First Aid Training in order to save the precious lives during untoward accidents. The first aid training was imparted by a team of well versed Doctors viz. Dr. Rajinder Thappa C.M. O. , Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Kavita Nijhon and Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma , Director Executive, J&KMMU on N.G.O. Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with 19 Brigade under Tiger Division and Swami Viveka Nand Hospital, Jammu from 5th October, 2015 to 7th October, 2015 in which 15 boys were trained by the experts, distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits to the trainees by GOC 19 Brigade under Tiger Division and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. The  camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with  Miran Sahib Brigade under Tiger Division  from 15th September ,2015 to 17th September,2015 in which  more than 49 participants  including 26 girls and  23 boys were trained by the experts  and  distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits  donated  by Mahavir International Jammu Centre to  the   trainees by   Brig. S.K.S.Chauhan,Miran Sahib Brigade Command and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu, J&K State Aid Control Society, Jammu and District Red Cross Society, Reasi organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp  at the site of Chenab Railway Bridge (Worlds Highest Railway Bridge) being constructed by  Afcons Infrastructure Ltd.  and Konkan Railways at Village Kouri in District Reasi on “Engineers Day”.  The Camp was inaugurated by Sh. S.M. Vishva Murthy, Project Manager, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. besides this, other dignitaries from Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. ,  Konkan Railways , IRCS, Jammu Region   and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu also participated in the programme--- Sh. P. Subramanim  Dy. General Manger, Sh. Bhoj Prasad- HR Admin. Head, Sh. Arun Chakraborty-Account Officer, Sh. K.C. Padhri- Account Manager, Sh. Yogesh Ojha- Sr. Manager  Fab.,  Sh. In the said Camp more than 105 donors (Engineers and Employees of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. And Konkan Railways) donated their blood voluntarily with great enthusiasm.

Vishva Murthy, Project Manager, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. while speaking to the present audiences thanked IRCS, Jammu Region, Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu and JKSACS, Jammu and District Red Cross Society, Reasi for their co-ordinated efforts in making the camp a grand success at such a hilly and for flung areas. He emphasised on Red Cross to arrange such Blood Donation Camp in future also. He also appreciated the efforts taken by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner  (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region) Jammu and Smt. Sushma Chauhan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (Chairman, District Red Cross Society) Reasi for providing timely support out of Red Cross  in organizing the above said camp successfully.

First Aid Training concludes  

Three days First Aid training commenced on 7-09-2015 and concluded on 9-09-2015. The said training course was imparted to the victims of border firing of village Jora Farm, R.S. Pura, Jammu by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association in collaboration with Tiger Division of Indian Army C/o 56, APO.

The main object of the First Aid Training to make the border people aware how to protect themselves during border firing and during any such eventualities. The first training was imparted by Doctor Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer. Besides this a free medical check-up camp was also organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region on 9-09-2015 wherein large number of people got examined by the Red Cross Dispensary Doctors assisted by the Pharmacists of Red Cross. During the Camp free medicines were distributed among the patients. Provisional First Aid Certificated were provided to the successful candidates by the Red Cross.

Brigade Commander Shri Chouhan of Tiger Division was the Chief Guest where as Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region was the Guest of Honour.

Sh. Chouhan appreciated the support of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region by organized the First Aid Training Programme and free medical check up at Border Village Jora Farm, R.S. Pura, Jammu successful and hoped that such type of camps shall be organised in future also.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation   Donates Blood

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. POL Depot, Jammu organized a  Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu, Blood Transfusion Department, Govt. Medical College , J&K State Aids Control Society, Jammu   at Red Cross Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu wherein  about  50  officers/Officials  of  the HPCL donated their blood voluntarily

Shri Manish Tandon,  Chief Regional  Manager of HPCL, Jammu  was the Chief Guest on the  occasion  and inaugurated  the  Camp  and appreciated  the efforts  of the Red Cross for   extending  their  full cooperation for organizing  Blood Donation Camp a grand success and  hoped to continue  such kind of support in future also.

Red Cross launches First  Aid Training Programme of  Rural Dev. Department

The Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu under the aegis  of St. John Ambulance  Association  starts five days  First Aid Training  Programme at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu  from 17th August,2015.

Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is also the Chairman Indian Red Cross Society ,Jammu Region was the Chief Guest on the occasion  and  inaugurated  the five days first aid training programme being imparted to the field functionaries of Rural Development Department Jammu  . Shri M.L.Raina , KAS, Director , Rural Development Department, Jammu presided over the function and  Dr. A. D.Singh,  main resource person from Health Department was also present on the occasion. Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS while addressing the  first aid trainees  appreciated the efforts of Red Cross and Rural Development Department  for organizing  this event and  stressed  upon the trainees to  take part in the said training with zeal & zest and emphasised  that they have to provide first aid  to the affected  people in their respective areas during any  natural calamities/disaster or border firing  etc. He also narrated his personal experience as Doctor on first aid and  its importance in the remote areas.

Field functionaries ( VLWs/MPWs)   from Rural Development Department are taking part in the said training . The main objective  of the programme was to impart training on first aid principles of First  Aid, first aid kit demonstration & its maintenance, unconsciousness/ shock/ cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) , First Aid in  emergencies Burns/ Bleeding/ Injuries/ fractures/ Dressing /Bandaging, safe handling and transportation of patients in order to acquaint themselves to meet out  any emergency .Dr. Rohini Bhan of Red Cross  Dispensary  and Dr. M.L. Sharma (Retd)   are imparting  the training .

Shri R.C.Puri , Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu presented  welcome address and also threw light on the importance  of first aid training  bedsides Red Cross activities   and said  it  is the urgent need of the hour to train common people  in disaster management and first aid  in view  of  off and on firing across the border, the life  of inhabitants remains at  risk  in absence of  medical and  paramedical support readily available  so it becomes necessary to impart first aid training  to the youth in order to provide immediate first aid  to the sufferers   . He also stressed upon the  participants to come forward & strengthen social institutions like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering  their services for the  humanitarian cause.

A group of Nursing Students of BEE ENN College of Nursing, Chak Bhalwal Jammu visited Red Cross on 26-05-15 and the lecture on th subject was delivered by Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary who assisted by Sh. Sun Pharma Laboratories and Red Cross organizes blood donation camp

Sh. Annil Suri, President, Bari Brahmana Industries Association inaugurated a Voluntary blood donation camp organized by Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited Bari Brahmana, Jammu in collaboration Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu, Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu and J&K State Aids Control Society, Jammu at Bari Brahmana on 10th April, 2015.

College for Women, Parade, Jammu organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 3-12-2014 in the College premises in collaboration with HDFC Bank, Jammu and PG Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu wherein 17 Volunteers of the College donated their Blood. Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. While speaking on the occasion she lauded the gesture of the College Students who come forward and donated the Blood for Humanitarian Cause. A team of the Doctors from Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu headed by Dr. Nazia were the incharge of the event. This Camp was organized by Dr. Aruna Dubey, Dean of GCW, Parade, Jammu and NSS Programme Officers Dr. Richpal Singh and Prof. Shivali. Medical College, Jammu and J&K State Aid Control Society, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp today at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu on the Eve of “WORLD AIDS DAY”. Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. RED CROSS Promotes Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in School Continuing its efforts further for promoting Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a team of Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu headed by Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary visited Viraj Bal Bhawan School, Khanpur (Nagrota), Jammu run by Smt. Raj Bharati, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu and distributed Sanitation Items such as Tooth Paste, Tooth Brush, Soap and other Stationery Items viz. notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and eatable items i.e. Biscuits among the poor and needy students belong to the labourer’s families on the spot and apprised them the importance of personal hygiene and to keep cleanliness of their houses, schools and surroundings and boosted their morale in presence of school authorities. The Incharge of the school appreciated the efforts of the Red Cross Society and hoped to continue such kind of assistance in future also. Free Medical checkup camps for the flood affected/border firing people of the far flung areas of Jammu Region In recognition of services rendered by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu for organising free medical checkup camps for the flood affected/border firing people of the far flung areas of Jammu Region where in more than 1600 patients were checked up and provided free medicines. The Round Table India Jammu Chapter donated medicines to Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region through Sh. Pawan Shastri, Hotel Swastik, Jammu, Member, Round Table India. The Medicines donated by the Round Table India shall enable the Red Cross Society to mitigate the sufferings of flood affected people and border firing people to great extent and such like NGO’s who care for the Humanitarian cause are welcomed. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu appreciated the role of the said NGO by donating medicines to the Red Cross Society and hoped that such cooperation would continue in future also. Other NGO’s should also come forward for such noble cause. Hony. Secretary, IRCS,Jammu alongwith Executive Committee Members celebrated Diwali festival with the inmates of flood victims putting up at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu alongwith Executive Committee Members celebrated Diwali festival with the inmates of flood victims putting up at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu on 23rd October,2014 and distributed sweets, Biscuits, Snacks, candles . The main purpose of celebrating Diwali festival with them was to show concern & solidarity with the flood victims at this juncture. The Relief Camp has been put up by the District Administration since 5th September,2014 and Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu is providing them meals free of cost. The Small Children had made Rangoli besides presented a skit highlighting the need to avoid using of Crackers which affect the environment by creating pollution and urged to use candles /Divas on this auspicious occasion instead of crackers. RED CROSS RENDERS RELIEF TO THE FLOOD VICTIMS In order to reach out and to provide Relief Assistance to the Victims of recent floods due to incessant rains, a team of Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu headed by its Secretary, Sh. R.C. Puri accompanied by Sh. Dinesh Gupta and Mrs. Navneet Kour Member of Executive Committee of Red Cross visited to took stock of the situation of the most affected areas of Distt. Kathua, Samba & Jammu under the able guidance of Sh. Shantmanu, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu) where they interacted with the affected people and assured all possible help from Red Cross will be provided to time. Meeting with Dy. Commissioner (Chairman, Distt. Red Cross Society, Samba) Samba was also held in his office chamber and assured every possible help from Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu for the flood affected people of Distt. Samba. A similar message was also conveyed to the Dy. Commissioner, Kathua. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu has already dispatched Relief Material to the Dy. Commissioner, Rajouri for further distribution among the flood affected people of their Distt. District Red Cross Jammu has already started its mission by providing Relief Material to the affected flood victims of Jammu Distt. Reports for distribution of Relief Material from all the Districts of Jammu Region have started pouring in and the Regional Branch is in constant touch with them for facilitating and providing them all kinds of support required from time to time. Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Bee Enn Charitable Trust Jammu and Hridyadeep Ashram, Jammu organized a Free Medical, Eye and Dental Checkup Camp. Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Bee Enn Charitable Trust Jammu and Hridyadeep Ashram, Jammu organized a Free Medical, Eye and Dental Checkup Camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Saruinsar Jammu on 23-08-2014 in which students of the school were checked up in different ailments i.e. general, Dental and Eye by a team of Doctors headed by Dr. Kushalya Sambyal from Bee Enn Charitable Trust, Jammu which included Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Dr. Rohini Bhan from Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. Rakesh Raina, Dental Surgeon  from Govt. Dental College, Jammu which were assisted by Sh. Anil Kumar, Sup Ophthalmic Asstt.  and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist. About 100 students were checked up in the said Camp and free medicines were also provided to the poor students. The Camp was organized under  the Supervision of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Free Medical Checkup Camp at Jhiri Jammu
Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized a Free Medical Checkup Camp at Jhiri Jammu in collaboration with Bee Enn General Hospital, Jammu on 26-04-2014 to provide Free Medical Checkup and medicines to the needy patients. A team of Voluntary Doctors from Bee Enn Charitable and other Institutions including Dr. Kushlaya Samyal from Bee Enn General Hospital, Dr. Kavita Nijhon, from Red Cross Dispensary, Dr. Vanya Dental Surgeon and Dr. Arundati Physiotherapist, participating in the Camp and examined the patients for various ailments (Gynae, General, Dental problems, Eyes & Ortho) besides Sh. Kuldeep Bhat, Sr. Ophthalmic Tech and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist and rendered their services. About 250 patients were examined and free medicines were also provided to the poor by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu & Bee Enn General Hospital.
