Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT aimed at improving the healthcare and well-being of underserved communities under the presidentship of Hon’ble Lt. Governor (Hon’ble President, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT). In an effort to provide essential healthcare services to those in need, IRCS has organized a comprehensive Medical Checkup, Immunization, and Eye Checkup Camp in slum area of Maratha Colony, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu on 9th Oct., 2023 in which 70 children and adults were examined.

 The event seeks to address the healthcare disparities faced by residents in slum areas who often lack access to basic medical services. By bringing these essential healthcare services directly to the community, the Indian Red Cross Society aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the underserved.

A team Red Cross included Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma, Medical Officer, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist, Smt. Nazia Bano, FMPHW, Sh. Kuldeep Bhat, Ophthalmologist attended the said camp. The camp included Immunization of general health assessments, vital sign measurements, eye examination and consultations to address common health concerns like sanitation, personal hygiene etc. The camp was organized under the guidance and supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K-UT.

 
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region to distribute Sanitary Napkins to the students of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khour
Women and especially schoolgirls in India face the daunting task of maintaining their sanitary health. This exposes economically weak women to a high risk of sanitation-related diseases and complications. The availability of menstrual hygiene products, which also includes disposable and reusable sanitary pads, is highly unstable even in the most developed cities and almost negligible in rural areas located far from prime supply centers. Considering all above challenges Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region is constantly working on spreading awareness about the use of sanitary pads and its free distribution.
Sh. Sat pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross society with his team including Dr. Aasia Noor, Pharmacist and other official staff personally came forward for its distribution amongst the girls of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khour which is near the border area to promote healthy lifestyle for them. Sat Pal Sharma aware the students about the activities of Red Cross, how it works and what it does. He also explained them about the 7 Principals of Red Cross on which the society functions. Dr. Aasia Noor along with Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist gave the basic knowledge about First-Aid to more than 500 female students there and also distributed Sanitary pads to female students and further Red Cross shall also put their sincere efforts to provide the same in far flung areas of Jammu Division where it’s access is bit limited and will try to involve more female staff for this distribution process so the students does not feel hesitant in accepting the supplies.
 
 
 
 
 
Medical cum MCH/ Immunization Camp by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region today, on the 10th February, 2023, organized a Medical cum MCH/ Immunization Camp at Municipal Park, Resham Ghar, Mazdoor Basti, Jammu in collaboration with BJP OBC Morcha for the underprivileged people of the society. During the camp, free medicines along with free medical consultation, nutrition advise, Blood Pressure check-up, Eye Checkup was given.
The team of Red Cross Medical Department included Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist and Smt. Sangeeta Devi, FMPHW visited the camp. The Camp was organized under the supervision of Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region where he made sure that more and more needy people may get benefit from organizing such types of camp in this extreme weather conditions. More than 200 people were screened in the camp and it ended at a positive note.
 
 
 
 
Medical/ Eye Check-up by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region today, on the 31st January, 2023, organized a Medical/ Eye Check-up Camp at Ahata-e-Wager, A day Care and Recreation Centre at Roop Nagar Jammu for senior citizens of the Society. During the camp, free medicines along with free medical consultation, nutrition advise, Blood Pressure check-up, Eye Checkup was given.
The team of Red Cross Medical Department included Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma, Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist and Sh. Kuldeep Bhat Ophthalmologist visited the camp. The Camp was organized under the supervision of Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region who made sure that the health of the elderly people should be taken care of. The camp ended at a positive note.
 
 
 
RED CROSS SOCIETY TO SPREAD WARMTH WITH BLANKET DISTRIBUTION
As the winter chill turns harsh with each passing day, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region is spreading warmth among the less privileged people of the society by carrying on blanket/ Warm clothes distribution drive to protect them from severe cold during nights.
From past one week the distribution is carried out in different areas of Shalamar, Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, Vikram Chowk, Canal Road, Panjtirthi, Satwari, Bahiu Plaza, Bahu Fort, etc. The objective of the initiative is to provide immediate help by way of giving some relief material to the needy/ sufferer to protect themselves from this extreme cold wave, particularly during night hours.
The distribution was personally lead by Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region along with his staff and volunteers. Sharing his experience, he said that various relief distribution activities are being carried out throughout the year and blanket/ warm clothes distribution is the most virtuous initiative. He further appealed to one and all to help in identifying the poor needy, suffering with cold who are really in need of warm clothing/blankets etc. He is day and night performing as a relentless soldier to mitigate the sufferings of the ailing masses.
 
 
Free Immunization/ Medical Health Check-up and Relief Distribution Camp
Immunization/ Medical Health care services are offered free in public health facilities, but the immunization rate remains low. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region is always in front fore to help the downtrodden children/ people of the society and continuing its mission to provide a helping hand for the noble cause of the society on humanitarian grounds.
IRCS, Jammu Region organized a Free Immunization/ Medical Camp slum areas of Roop Nagar and Muthi. During the camp, free medicines along with free medical consultation, nutrition advise, immunization of children and ladies, was given. Besides providing immunization, the Society educated women and children participants about general cleanliness, oral hygiene and importance of adopting healthy dietary habits
Meanwhile, the Society distributed soaps, clothes, sarees and other relief items to poor and needy families residing in the jhuggis.
The camp team was headed by Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region along with his other team members comprising of Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist and Smt. Sangeeta Devi, FMPHW. Sh. Sat Pal Sharma made sure that more and more vaccine/ relief programmes will be organized in the coming weeks as there is a definite need to focus on people living in high risk/ pathetic conditions in slum areas to improve their healthcare system and livelihood.
 
 
 
 
Immunization/ Medical Check-up/ Relief Distribution Camp
Slums denote collection of people from various communities having a meager income and living in unhygienic conditions thus making themselves most vulnerable for outbreaks of communicable diseases. Immunization plays a crucial role in Vaccine preventable diseases across the globe. Today, on the 23rd of June, 2022, IRCS Jammu Region in collaboration with Sangharsh Vidya Kendra organized a Medical Check-up/ immunization camp in the slum areas of Maratha Colony, Trikuta Nagar Jammu for the unprivileged children and women of the society. During the camp, free medicines along with free medical consultation, nutrition advise, immunization of children and ladies, was given. Further the relief was also distributed by IRCS, Jammu Region.
The camp team was headed by Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region along with his other team members comprising of Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist and Smt. Sangeeta Devi, FMPHW. Sh. Sat Pal Sharma made sure that more and more vaccine programmes will be organized in the coming weeks as there is a definite need to focus on people living in high risk areas to improve the healthcare system. Keeping with the tradition of providing helping hand to the local population of Border Areas, Pargwal Battalion under the aegis of Chenab Brigade/ Tiger Division organised a Medical Camp at Caption Gandharav Singh Manhas Army School Pargwal. Three specialist Doctors from Indian Red Cross Society Jammu, Army Medical Corps and Dr. KD Multi Speciality Hospital, Jammu took the charge of amelioration of Medical Problems of Local Population. 156 local including ladies and children benefited from the camp.
 
 
A Medical/MCH and Immunization Camp was organized today on 17th March, 2022 by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in the slum areas of Muthi and Roop Nagar, Jammu in which a team of Medical/ Para Medical staff headed by Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer assisted by Smt. Sangeeta Devi, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist and others attended the camp. The camp included BP check-up, immunization of children, ladies, nutritional advice etc.

Red Cross & Fortune Inn Riviera holds Blood Donation Camps

Fortune Inn Riviera, Jammu organized a Blood Donation Camp today the 26-12-2016 in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu where number of employees including Mr. Namit Sinha, General Manager of the Hotel also donated blood.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region who was also present on the occasion, appreciated the devotion, enthusiasm of the employees who come forward and donated for blood without hesitation especially Management of Fortune Inn Riviera. Sh. R.C. Puri also threw lights  on the importance of blood donation, its periodicity, effects/benefits of health  of donor and above all the noble cause of saving precious lives and assure all possible support from Red Cross for organizing blood donation in near future. The team of Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu was headed by Dr. Kajal assisted by other Medical and Paramedical staff.

The Camp was organized under the supervision of Ms. Nisha Kalla, Manager, H.R. of the Hotel.

IRCS and Rashtriya Rifles organises Blood Donation Camp at Talwara, Reasi

 
On the occasion of 57th Raising Day, Border Security Force (BSF) organised a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and GMCH, Jammu at Jhiri Jammu on 26th November, 2021. DIG, Rakesh Negi and other officers from BSF were also present on the occasion.

Disasters may be natural or manmade needs immediate attention of all the concerned agencies and to supplement the efforts of the Government, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region has been working throughout for helping the needy in many ways. Recently, in Shakti Nagar, 10 juggis and their belongings were completely destroyed in the devastated fire incidence that occurred on 17th March, 2021.
10 kgs Rice, to each of the family, blankets, Mattress, stoves, washing soaps, buckets were distributed by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in presence of Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation and Sh. Vinod Malhotra, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region conducted a medical camp at Shahid Bhagat Singh Park Krishna Nagar

On the request of JK Awareness Manch, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region conducted a medical camp at Shahid Bhagat Singh Park Krishna Nagar, Jammu on 22nd December, 2020 to supplement health care facilities at the doorstep, with the aim to reach out and deliver basic medical care to approximately 200 children as well as adults, a team of doctors including Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist , Sh. Kuldeep Bhat and Dr. Sunita Sharma, Eye Specialists, Sh. Balbir Singh and Daleep Bakshi, Sr. lab Tech. provided their services for this noble cause. The camp included free medical consultation, nutrition advice, BP measurement, Eye Check-up etc. Apart from this, free medicines were also distributed.  

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region have come forward to help the homeless and labourers

The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region have come forward to help the homeless and labourers who have been struggling to get food and ration in view of restrictions imposed to contain Coronavirus (Covid 19)spread.
Relief items in the form  of ration including Rice, Aatta, Potato, Onion, Salt, Sugar, Dal, Oil etc has been distributed to nearly 400 to 500 families who live at Beli Charana, Circular Road, Chand Nagar and Pahari Mohalla, Old Hospital Road and other nearby places in the city.
Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Vinod Malhotra  said that, “on the directions of worthy Divisional Commissioner (Chairman, IRCS Jammu Region) we have started providing food and ration to the poor and needy people. He further appealed to the general masses that they should follow the instructions of Government/ Administration and maintain social distancing and hygiene in and around the surroundings”. He was accompanied by other staff members of Red Cross Society.

HEALTH CARE FACILITIES AT THE DOOR STEP- INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY, JAMMU REGION

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region conducted a medical camp at SOS Children’s village, Bahu Fort in Middle School, Bahu Fort on 25th Oct.,2019 to supplement health care facilities at the door step, with the aim to reach out and deliver basic medical care to the children of 4 to 13 age group and women of the community wherein, a team of doctors including Dr. Shelly Mahajan, Sr. Anesthetics assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Phsurarmacist, Sh. Joginder Kumar and Sh. Kuldeep Bhat provided their services for this noble cause. The camp included free medical consultation, nutrition advice, BP measurement, Eye Check-up etc. Apart from this, free medicines were also distributed.

Financial Assistance to poor needy 

To help the sick and suffering people of the society, to the maximum in saving their precious lives, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region is providing financial assistance to those poor patients who are suffering from different ailments specially like Cancer/ Kidney patients in their medical treatment for their Livelihood and Educational support on case to case basis as one of the main Philanthropic activity.
Cheques amounting to Rs. 2.5 Lac were distributed today to 8 persons besides medicines to a Cancer patient and cash financial assistance to villagers of Border area of Arnia by Sh. M.K.Sinha,IPS, IGP Jammu Zone. While distributing the cheques to the beneficiaries he complimented the efforts being made by the Indian Red Cross Society to identify, reach out to the poor needy and minimise their sufferings by extending them timely help by various means whether cash, medicines or the appliances and in certain cases regular financial assistance on monthly basis. He suggested that Red Cross should start livelihood project for the poor needy and quoted that “Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day, Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime”. Mr. Sinha also assured for his full support in all welfare activities of the Red Cross. 
Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region informed that the Society is putting its best efforts with the guidance and kind support of Shri Sanjeev Verma, the Worthy Divisional Commissioner and the Executive Committee of the Regional Branch to reach out to the unreached and mitigate the sufferings of the poor members of public.

Distribution of Cheques

To help the sick and sufferings poor people, to the maximum in saving their lives, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region has distributed Cheques to help poor patients suffering from different ailments in their medical treatment to the maximum possible by providing medicines and financial assistance on case to case basis as one of the main Philanthropic activity.

Rs. 2.20 Lac which was sanctioned by Shri Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner who is also the ex-officio Chairman of IRCS, Jammu Region was distributed today through cheques to 8 different beneficiaries suffering from these fatal diseases and other health issues in presence of S/ Sh. Neeraj Anand, Surinder Mahajan Executive Committee Members of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Shri R.Vijay Magotra, Social activist and Executive Committee Member of the IRCS, Jammu District Branch besides Shri O.P.Gupta and Sr. Rajinder Singh, Social activists.
