Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT organized four days First-Aid Training Programme for the employees of M/S RVS iGlobal w.e.f 16th Oct., 2023 to 19th Oct., 2023 at RVS iGlobal- RVS Informatics IT Private Ltd. Narwal Bye Pass Jammu.
During the various sessions, Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma and Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, from IRCS elaborated on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with first hand practical learning sessions, methods of handed fractures, rescue and transportation of patient and use of local resources during disaster along with practical field activities. Mrs. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist, Ms. Nazia Bano, FMPHW elaborated on wounds and basic first aid equipments, poisoning, snake bites, stings situations. The training was assisted by and Vironica Marwah, Field Officer.
The training was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, JK UT.

FIRST-AID CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION BY INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY,J&K UT
Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT organized a function in the Conference hall of the Red Cross Society, Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu and handed over the First-Aid Certificates received from St. John Ambulance, National Head Quarters, New Delhi to the trainees who have enrolled themselves to become the First-Aiders by Mr. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT. The employees of M/S Ultimate Flexipack Ltd., SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Samba, Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu, J&K Cricket Association (Women) and others has received the certificates in the said programme. Later, he congratulated everyone for completing their training successfully and emphasised on how one can stay associated with this noble organization so that more help can be provided on humanitarian grounds for the upliftment and betterment of the society. Total 37 certificates were distributed in the said function.

First-Aid Training at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu Indian Red Cross Society’s First Aid trainingprogramme gives the information and the skills one need to helpadults and children during many emergency situations, First-aid care is the top most priority to helppeople at the times of disaster. Likewise, IRCS Jammu Region organized a fourdays First-Aid training programme for the officers/ officials of M/s PidiliteIndustries, SICOP, Kathua, Employees of Versatile Polytech Pvt. Ltd. BariBrahmana, Distt. Samba, Commercial Vehicle drivers and for the youth of thesociety. The training concluded on 31st August, 2022. During the 4 days training, different topics were covered like various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, First-Aid Kit, wounds, bandages, types of fractures, bleeding emergencies, burns etc. Emergency technique of handling bleeding patient, Fracture/accident victims was also emphasized. Highlights of the programme were how to resuscitate a patient of fainting and Cardiac Arrest. Emphasis was laid on the Management of injuries, fracture, burns, control of bleeding, practical demonstrations of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Choking. The practical and theoretical lectures were laid by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma, Dr. Asia Noor, Medical Officers assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist and Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist, IRCS, Jammu Region. During the last day of session, Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, IRCS Jammu Region interacted with all the participants personally and discussed about how their training went and was it of any use to them. Apart from this, he also briefed them about the organization motive and how it helps the different sections of society. The training went quite fruitful and ended on a good note.

In connection with 49th National Safety Week celebration, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited with it’s Regional Head Quarter at Grid Bhawan, Rail Head Complex, Jammu organized a First-Aid ( Basic Life Support) Employee Relocation Council (ERC) Training on 4th of March 2020. It was done in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.
The beneficiaries were the employees from Power Grid and their families. Active participation was shown by the children also.
The training was imparted by Dr. Shelly Mahajan (M.D. Anesthetic) Medical Officer, Red Cross Jammu Region. Highlights of the programme were how to resuscitate a patient of fainting and Cardiac Arrest. Emphasis was laid on the Management of injuries, fracture, burns, control of bleeding, practical demonstrations of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Choking were done with the active participation of children and ladies of the group.
The discussion proved quite fruitful. They showed interest in organizing such trainings frequently in future.
In the end, Sh. Vinod Malhotra, Hony. Secretary expressed his satisfaction and gave details on activities of Red Cross Society and how this training is going to help them for the rest of their lives while performing their normal duties by applying the knowledge of first-aid acquired by them during the training period
Medical & First-Aid/Coronavirus Awareness Programme at RatnuchakSeeing
The fear psychosis on spread of Corona virus, Sabre Brigade of Rising Star Corps in close coordination with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and the district administration of Samba and Jammu, organized a Medical and First-Aid/Corona virus Awareness Programme at Ratnuchak to reach out to the rural public and address the needs of the people.
Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, GOC Rising Star Corps also visited the camp. He was briefed by Brig Vishal Singh, Commander Sabre Brigade on the prevailing health and local issues. He interacted with local populace, appreciated the dedicated efforts of organisers, team of doctors from Army, Indian Red Cross Society and civil and appealed towards precious contribution from all to fight this Pandemic.
Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer along with Mrs. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer and Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist, Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region aware the locals from the nearby rural areas including members of the Gujjar and Bakkarwal settlements who have limited access to quality medical care. Wide publicity and awareness ensured huge attendance and were distributed with sanitizers and masks to contribute towards prevention against spread of Corona virus. The camp was organized under the supervision of Sh. Vinod Malhotra, secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.

8 Days First-Aid Training Concluded


Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region has been putting its best efforts in preparing people to respond to emergencies of all types – from the everyday to the large disaster. Similarly a First-Aid Training was imparted for the trainees from different fields which included Doctors, Students as well as Red Cross Volunteers with effect from 4th Nov to 13th Nov, 2019.
The highlights of the training revolved around First Aid Kit, Traumas/ Accidents, Transportation of Injured patient, Management of massive bleeding, fracture, Shock, Heart attack, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Snake biting.
Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD Anaesthesia, Medical Officer, IRCS demonstrated keeping in mind how to handle fainting and unconscious patient. Practical of CPR/ Choking was done with active participation of all the participants. Emergency technique of handling bleeding patient, Fracture/accident victims was also emphasised. She was assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist and Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, Red Cross Jammu.
The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon and was assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist.

Indian Red Cross society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Bar association Jammu organised a one day workshop on First-Aid awareness and Basic Life Support Skills. The Red Cross team was headed by Mr. Dinesh Gupta (hony. Secretary). The workshop was conducted by Dr. Shelly Mahajan (M.D. Anesthesia) Medical Officer Red Cross supported by Sr. Pharmacist Kanchan Devi. There was active participation and interaction from the senior lady advocates and other bar members. Practical demonstration included Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) technique, bleeding and fracture Management, transportation of injured patients. Apart from this there were queries and tips for healthy lifestyle and age related woman health issues. The discussion went quite fruitful and concluded with good positivity.

Similarly, a mixed batch of trainees who came for 04 days First-Aid Training including employees of Dabur Pvt. Ltd and Red Cross Volunteers concluded today.
The highlights of the training revolved around First Aid Kit, Traumas/ Accidents, Transportation of Injured patient, Management of massive bleeding, fracture, Shock, Heart attack, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Snake biting.

Safety begins with Team Work- First-Aid


In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. First Aid training need to become part of a larger culture of safety within workplaces. Following the trend Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organised a first-Aid Awareness camp for the employees of Chenab Valley Power Project (CVPP) in two sessions for their workers and officers. The training was inaugurated by Sh. M.K. Paulose, General Manager HR.
During the first session, Dr. Ranbhushan Singh Sr. Anaesthetist, critical care and disaster management specialist, told about do’s and don’ts in situations like injuries, snake bites, accidents, fire incidents, electric shock, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), etc.
In the 2nd session, Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD. Anaesthesia, Medical Officer, IRCS demonstrated keeping in mind how to handle fainting and unconscious patient. Practicals of CPR/ Choking was done with active participation of the officers. Emergency technique of handling bleeding patient, Fracture/accident victims was also emphasised.
They were assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS, Jammu Region.
In the end, Mr. Paulose thanked the whole team of Red Cross and told their employees how this training is going to help them for the rest of their lives and how they can while performing their normal duties also become a hero by applying the knowledge of first-aid acquired by them during any kind of mishaps.
FIRST-AID AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT J&K FOREST DEPARTMENT


As unpleasant as it is to talk about, accidents and emergency situations are not completely preventable or unavoidable. First Aid knowledge is very valuable for both the individual and for the community. It enables to assist persons who become injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region conducted a one day First-Aid awareness programme for the employees of Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department at their premises, Miransahib.
During the awareness programme, Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Anaesthetist, critical care and disaster management specialist, told about do’s and don’ts in situations like injuries, snake bites, accidents, fire incidents, electric shock, etc. He also demonstrated how to handle fractures, arrest bleeding and administer about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). He was assisted by Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, Red Cross Jammu.
The forest department believed that this small effort will make their employees learn to safeguard their own health and help others in emergency.
“SURVIVAL SKILLS IN BULLET & SPLINTER INJURIES”


For Jammu & Kashmir Police
For saving the precious lives of Officers and Jawans who get bullet injuries during firing etc. incidents from across the Border, how best a timely/quick action by their fellow colleagues/buddies can save or at-least be very helpful in minimizing the otherwise loss to occur; Regional Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu conducted a one day Special Programme “on survival skills in Bullet and Splinter Injuries” today i.e. 1st May, 2019 where 50 personnel’s of J&K Police including SSPs, SPs, DSPs, Inspectors, Jawans participated. The programme was inaugurated by Sh. Munish Kumar Mishra, IPS, IGP, Jammu.
Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Anaesthetics, in his lecture made special focus on the “First 10 Minutes (Platinum Period)”, intervention by the buddy in controlling the bleeding of the injured victim and also demonstrated Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation if the victim collapses thus prolonging his/her life so that injured could reach the hospital. In addition, the quires of the participants were also answered.
The lecture was assisted by Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.
Sh. Dinesh Gupta briefed all the participants about the functioning of Red Cross Society, it’s Aims and Objectives etc. Precisely, RED CROSS WHAT WHEN WHERE and sought for their full co-operation in minimizing the sufferings of the poor needy. The participants liked the programme and expressed their gratitude for organising such like programmes in future and in other Districts also.

Similarly, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region is continuously making its efforts to create awareness amongst the people of every age group by giving them proper timely First-Aid training so that they can minimize injury and future disability in any disastrous situation. Similarly, a one day First-Aid awareness programme was held today for the students of various schools of Gagwal at Govt. High School, Nichla, Gagwal in which total 300 students participated. The awareness was imparted by the Sr. Consultant Dr. Rajinder Thappa assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist of Red Cross. All the students were taught that in case of accidents and medical emergencies “what to do & what not to do” besides basic tit-bits.

Central University Jammu organises Two Day Training Workshop on “Basic First Aid and Life Support System” in Collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region on 30-31 January, 2019.
Two day training workshop on “Basic First Aid and Life Support System” was organised by the Field Work Unit, Department of Social Work, Central University of Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society(IRCS), Jammu Region on 30th& 31st January 2019 at Brg. Rajinder Singh Auditorium in the University Campus. The objective of the workshop was to enhance the knowledge and skills of social work students through first hand practical training to save lives in emergency situations and during community outreach and field activities. The workshop was inaugurated by chief guest Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, Central University Jammu in the presence of Shri. Dinesh Gupta, Hon. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Dr. VijayataPuri, Medical Officer, CU Jammu,Dr. Dharmendra Singh, HOD,faculty members of Dept. of Social Work-Dr. Nancy Mengi, Mr. BhatIqbal Majeed, Mr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Ranvir Singh, Ms.Yangchan Dolma and Students.
The Hon’ble VC Prof. Aima shared his thoughts on the importance of the subject and congratulated the department of social work for organising the workshop. He further suggested having a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IRCS for future community engagement activities. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary IRCS emphasised on the relevance of the subject in current time across the world and crucial role students of social work can play. He expressed happiness over having a Dept. of social work at Central University Jammu, which will boost skilled manpower of professional social workers in Jammu region.
During the various sessions, Dr. Shelly Mahajan (MD Anaesthesia) Senior Consultant, and Miss Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, from IRCS deliberated on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with first hand practical learning sessions. Mrs.Kanchan, Sup. Pharmacist elaborated on wounds, haemorrhage and basic first aid equipments to students. Dr. Bias Dev, Orthopedic Surgeon associated with IRCS explained the various methods to handed fractures, rescue,and transportation of patient and use of local resources during disaster along with practical field activities. Dr Rajinder Thappa, First-Aid Trainer and Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, M.D., expert in First-Aid and Disaster management discussed with students first aid methods to save lives during poisoning, snake bites, stings situations. The students were provided with requisite theoretical and practical inputs to handle real life emergency situations. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Medical officer, CU Jammu also highlighted the benefit of the training to the students and shared tips on first aid to students.
Valedictory session was chaired by Prof. Govind Singh, Dean,School of Social Sciences, Central University of Jammu and Dr. Dharmendra Singh, HOD, Social Work. They congratulated the student on completing the training successfully. Mr. Vinay Kumar, Field work Coordinator, Social Work, delivered the vote of thanks.

Main focus was on the Time Management say they were explained “HURRY MAKES WORRY AND WORRY MAKES CURRY” AND HOW A STITCH IN TIME NOT ONLY SAVES NINE BUT THE WHOLE GARMENT”.
Theoretical and practical demonstrations were imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely, Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD Anaesthesia, assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer. The exam was conducted by Dr. Shamim assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist.
During the last segment of this training, Sh. M.S. Rather (IAS Retd.), General Secretary J&K State Branch of IRCS who was the Chief Guest in the valedictory function accompanied by Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region interacted with the participants and told them about how this training is going to be beneficial for the rest of their lives and how they can while performing their normal duties also become a hero by applying the knowledge of first-aid acquired by them during any kind of mishaps/road accidents etc.

First-Aid Training to all in phased manner is one of the major activity of the IRCS, Jammu Region and during the current month i.e. between January, 01,2019 and January 12-01-2019 two new batches of 80 persons have been trained. Survival skills in Bullet and Splinter In Terror activities held at CRPF, Bantalab
For saving the precious lives of our great soldiers who get bullet injuries during firing etc. Incidents from across the Border, how best a timely/quick action by their fellow colleagues/buddies can save or at-least be very helpful in minimizing the otherwise loss to occur; the Regional Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu made a beginning by conducting a one day Special Programme on survival skills in Bullet and Splinter In Terror activities today on 21st Dec, 2018 where 60 Officers/officials participated.
In addition, a Special Interactive session on Bullet and Splinter Injuries by the buddy’s was also held which was highly appreciated and it was resolved to go further to improve the Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) relating to bullet injuries in the forces.
Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Anaesthetics, Dr. Shelly Mahajan delivered the lecture assisted by Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer. The programme was conducted under the close supervision Sh. D.K Panday and Sh. Prashant Singh, Assistant Commandants CRPF and Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region. Sh. Dinesh Gupta briefed them about the functioning of Red Cross Society, it’s Aims and Objectives etc. The CRPF Officers said it is a very good initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society and offered their full support in such like activities for the benefit of the CRPF personnel’s.
First-Aid Training Concludes
In a crisis situation, when there is a natural disaster or violent conflict, the Red Cross is on the scene to rescue and protect people. In this regard Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre has organised a four days First-Aid training programme from 17th to 20th Dec, 2018 for the Commercial Vehicle Drivers and Red Cross Volunteers.
Possible emergency cases involving First Aid Kit, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Transportation of Injured patient, disaster Management and providing First aid for cases like bleeding, shock, choking and Disaster Management were well explained to the participants. Main focus was on the Time Management say they were explained “HOW & WHY A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.”

First-Aid Training Programme at Berger Paints Pvt. Ltd., Samba concludes.
In its continued efforts to train maximum members of public from different walks of life, the Indian Red Cross Society under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), have regularly been imparting First-Aid training with the sole motto of minimizing the loss during any kind of medical emergencies. This year between January, 2018 and November 30, 2018, 950 persons newly trained have been added to the already trained Honorary work force in Jammu.
Today, the current batch of 18 Officers of Berger Paints Pvt. Ltd. had undergone three days First-Aid training which commenced on 6th Dec., 2018 at their Sidco Complex, Samba and successfully completed the training.

First-Aid Training Programme For Commercial Vehicle Drivers Concluded
In connection with Preparedness for Disaster Management, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized a four days First-Aid Training Programme for Commercial Vehicle Drivers at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu which concluded today i.e. on 7th Dec, 2018. The Idea of imparting this training is to make them aware about “What to Do and What Not to Do” in case of any Disaster may be man made or natural. All the participants had undergone an exam on the last day and those declared successful shall also be provided a Training Certificate to be issued by the St. John Ambulance (India).
Before the start of the training every participant is briefed about the very purpose and importance of the Training. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized a four days First-Aid Training Programme for the employees of Amar Ujala Publications Ltd. Jammu & Commercial Vehicle Drivers to enhance the readiness and capability of their personnel in dealing with unexpected emergency situations which concluded today on 15th November, 2018.
The training titled “First Aid and Basic Life Support” was aimed to inform and train the public about its purpose of Do’s and Don’ts in the matters relating to Medical emergencies, traumas and accidents, etc. The highlights of the training revolved around First Aid Kit, Traumas/ Accidents, Transportation of Injured patient, Management of massive bleeding, Shock, Heart attack, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). First Aid Training Programme for Border Areas of Jammu Region
Indian Red Cross Society today inaugurated three (03) days (16 hrs) First Aid Training Programme for the Border Areas of Jammu Region. Under this program 100 participants residing alongside the border areas of Jammu Region shall be trained on Basic First Aid in phased manner. 20 participants from School Education Department and local Red Cross Volunteers are participating in this training.
The objective of this training is to enhance the capacity of the volunteers who shall act as First Responders in times of emergencies, cross border escalations and educate the community to make them more resilient to disasters to which the community is vulnerable. The aim of training is to reduce disaster risks and build resilient communities alongside the International Border of Jammu Region.
The training programme was inaugurated by the Honorary General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State Chapter. In his welcome speech Mr. M.S. RATHER welcomed the guests, participants and resource persons and commended the Red Cross Society for rendering humanitarian services to the people in distress. He further stressed the need to develop coordination between Red Cross and the educational institutions to take the mission to the grassroots level. He particularly appreciated the degree of level and commitment of the participants.
The Programme was attended by Mr. Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Regional Branch and in his speech Mr. Gupta briefed the participants about the very purpose of this kind of specialised training especially designed for the residents of border areas of Jammu region. Mr. Gupta also stressed the need for creating a cadre of trained First Aid volunteers who shall utilise their skill and expertise in giving First Aid and saving lives of the people especially during the cross border escalations.
This program is being held under the supervision of Dr. Itinderpal Singh Bali, Master Trainer, Ms. Utplakshi Kaushik, F.A Manager, Mr. Imran Muzaffar, Program Manager from Indian Red Cross Society and Ms. Rizwana Rashid and Mr. Manash Mohan from the ICRC and the resource persons from IRCS, State Headquarters and Jammu Regional Branch.

To enhance the readiness and capability of personnel in dealing with unforeseen medical emergencies and from Disaster Preparedness prospective “WHAT TO DO & WHAT NOT TO DO”, a three days First-Aid Training Programme was organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region at Govt. Degree College, Reasi under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre concluded today on 26th September, 2018. The training was conducted for the faculty as well as the students of the said college.

Satwari Cantt., Jammu under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre concluded today on 13th Sept., 2018.
In addition, a Special Interactive session to the families of the Army personnel’s on Immediate First Aid which included First Aid Kit, Management of Medical Emergencies, Disaster Management, Transportation of Injured Patients, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) etc. was also held which was highly appreciated.

FIRST-AIDERS OF TRAFFIC POLICE AWARDED TRAINING CERTIFICATES BY SHRI AVINASH RAI KHANNA, NATIONAL VICE-CHAIRMAN OF INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY
In its continued efforts to train maximum members of public from different walks of life, the Indian Red Cross Society under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), NHQ, New Delhi have regularly been imparting First-Aid training all over the Country with the sole motto of minimizing the loss during any kind of medical emergencies. Mr. Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region informed that every year around 2000 new trainees are being added to the already trained work force in Jammu only and at National Level number of such trainees may be in thousands.
Today, the current batch of 30 Traffic Police Personnel who had undergone three days First-Aid training which commenced on 17th August, 2018 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu were awarded the Provisional Certificates (of having successfully completed the training) by Shri Avinash Rai Khanna, National Vice-Chairman of the IRCS, New Delhi in the presence of Sh. Joginder Singh, SSP(T) Jammu, Sh. Shakti Pathak, SSP(T) NH, Sh. Mushtaq Choudhary, SP(T) Rural, Sh. Vikram Gujral, Sh. Surinder Mahajan, Sh. S.C. Bali, Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Committee Members & R. Vijay Mangotra, Social activist.
In his address Shri Khanna emphasized on the very importance of the First-Aid training and quoted personal as well as experiences of others who being a trained First-aider could be helpful in saving precious lives. He said that everyone should acquire the knowledge of First-Aid and if we have trained work force of First-Aider, the mortality rate will also substantially reduce. Shri Khanna also appreciated the exemplary role being played by the Regional Red Cross, Jammu for training more and more members of public representing different sections of society more particularly for imparting training to the traffic Police Personnel in front of whom daily accidents takes place and they can really be of a big help in saving precious lives.

FIRST-AID TRAINING AT ARMY CAMP LALE-DA-BAGH CONCLUDED TODAY
To make more and more members of public aware about the basics of First- Aid, a three days training which began on 23rd July, 2018 for the families of Army personnel at Army Camp Lale-da-bagh, Jammu under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre concluded today on 25th July, 2018.
In addition, a Special Interactive session of half day for the serving Army Officers and JCO’s focusing on Immediate First Aid on Bullet and Splinter Injuries by the buddy’s was also held which was highly appreciated and it was resolved to go further to improve the Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) relating to bullet injuries in the forces.

RED CROSS ORGANIZES FIRS-AID CAMP AT MUTHI, JAMMU.
The IRCS, Jammu Region in collaboration with Indian Army organized a First Aid Training camp at Muthi, Jammu wherein First – Aid Awareness training was imparted to the families of Army personnel. The lecture on First Aid awareness was delivered by Dr. Ranbhushan Singh, Sr. Anesthetist assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist and Miss Vironica Marwah, Field Officer.
Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary. IRCS, Jammu Region also participated in the Camp and interacted with Dr. Col. Padmni, CO, Capt. Anurag and trainees participants.
Dr. Padmni appreciated the good work being done by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Regional Branch and said that they would like to organize more such like camps in future for the families of Army personnel in various Army locations.

The training was started on 14th May, 2018 in which 25 Commercial Vehicle Drivers took part in the First Aid training. FIRST AID AWARENESS PROGRAMME ORGANIZED BY RED CROSS
Two programmes of One day First Aid awareness were organized by IRCS, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India) at Air Force School, Jammu and Carmel Convent School, Kunjwani, Jammu respectively in which students and staff of both institutions were given awareness about First Aid by the experts. Further, Carmel Covent School also organized a function in connection with celebration of World Red Cross Day in the school premises and presented a colorful programme highlighting the history of Red Cross which was applauded by the audience. FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR TEACHERS OF BORDER AREAS.
In connection with Preparedness for Disaster Management the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with State Disaster Management Authority organized two special training programmes for 3 days each simultaneously for the teachers posted in Border areas of Arnia, Bishnah and R.S.Pura Zones of District Jammu at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Salher (Bishnah) and Govt. Hr. Sec. School, R.S.Pura. Jammu. The Idea of imparting this special training is to make teachers posted in borders areas aware about “ What to Do and What Not to Do” in case of any Disaster may be ma made or natural. All the participants will have to undergo a exam on the last day and those declared successful shall be provided a Training Certificate also.

FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR TEACHERS OF BORDER AREAS OF DISTT. SAMBA.
In connection with Preparedness for Disaster Management the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with State Disaster Management Authority organized two special training programmes for 3 days each simultaneously for the teachers posted in Border areas of Vijaypur and Ramgarh Zones at Govt. Middle School, Ramgarh and another programme of Ghagwal and Samba Zones at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Boys, Samba. The Idea of imparting this special training is to make teachers posted in borders areas aware about “ What to Do and What Not to Do” in case of any Disaster may be ma made or natural. All the participants will have to undergo a exam on the last day i.e. on 22-3-2018 and those declared successful shall be provided a Training Certificate also.

The training was started on 21st Feb., 2018 in which more than 38 Commercial Vehicle Drivers and newly enrolled Red Cross volunteers took part in the First Aid training. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the employees of Corporate Houses and Drivers/ Conductors of Commercial vehicles in order to save the precious lives during untoward incidents. “A stitch in time save Nine”.

RED CROSS ORGANISES FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME TO JAIL INMATES
Two days First Aid Awareness Programme was organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Central Jail, Kote Bhalwal , Jammu at central Jail, Kote Bhalwal Jammu on 6th and 7th December, 2017 in which more than 40 jail intimates took active part.The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the concerned staff of the institution and jail inmates enabling to tackle any medical emergency.
The training was imparted by Dr Ranbushan Singh, Sr. Consultant Anaesthetist & Disaster Management Specialist presently posted in Red Cross Society, Sr. Consultants namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa, CMO, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Jammu, and assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist .

Organises Blood Donation Camp
Mahavir International Society Faridabad & Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, District Red Cross Society, Reasi and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu at Govt. Hr Sec. School Katra on 28-10-2017.
A total number of 50 Units were voluntarily donated by the members of Mahavir International Society Faridabad/ Jammu. The beauty of the camp was that all the donors were fully motivated and they came all the way from Faridabad, NCR and other States to donate blood and save precious lives. This is the3rs such camp and has motivated many locals also to come forward and donate blood.

Umesh Arora from Faridabad organizer Mahavir International blood donation threw light on Roko Thalassemia Society and stressed to aware the Society/youth about the needs of minor thalassemia disease. Mrs. Rajni Jain and Mrs. Heena Jain from Mahavir International, Jammu Centre, were also present.

The 2nd batch of Four days First Aid training Course organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), concluded on 24th Aug. 2017 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu . The training started on 21st , 2017 in which 29 teachers of five Districts of Jammu Division viz. Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar took part in the First Aid training. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the Teachers of Govt. Schools who would work as counselors in their schools to carryout Red Cross Activities and be useful in providing First Aid during any eventuality.

Four days First Aid training programme organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre, Jammu concluded on 19th May. 2017 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu under the directions of Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari ,IAS, Chairman Regional Red Cross Society and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu . The training was started on 15th May 2017 in which more than 24 employees of M/S UPL Limited, Samba, Commercial Vehicle Drivers and Red Cross volunteers took part in the First Aid training. The training was imparted with the sole motto to train the common masses especially the employees of Corporate Houses and Drivers/ Conductors of Commercial vehicles in order to save the precious lives during untoward incidents.
The training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely Dr. Ranbushan Singh, Consultant Anesthetist and Disaster Management Specialist, Red Cross Society, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, CMO, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Jammu Dr. M.L. Red Cross organizes First Aid Awareness Camp at border village Molu (Pargwal)
25 Punjab Regiment under HQ 26 Infantry Division organised a Veterans Rally on 29th March,2017 at Molu (Pargal) in which Ex- servicemen, widow and their families from Pargwal, Khour, Akhnoor and Damana Areas participated. Besides a Medical camp was also organised in which Indian Red Cross Society also participated and imparted First Aid Awareness in which more than 200 persons including youth and women participated. The First Aid Awareness training was imparted by the Sr. Consultants viz. Dr. Rajinder Thappa and Dr. Simriti assisted by Miss Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, Smt. Tripta Devi, LHV, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist of Red Cross. . Brig .B.S Bisht inaugurated the camp in presence of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region. Col Kumar Anand, Commanding officer while speaking on the occasion appreciated the support extended by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu for the first aid awareness programme.
Sh. R.C. Puri assured that Red Cross society will br ready to always provide the necessary support to the Army for organizing First Aid Awareness programmes in border villages in future also so that maximum people of these villages are trained in First Aid which is very essential for timely help to the injured for saving precious human lives during cross border firing.

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in continuation to its campaign for First Aid Training Programme organized four days First Aid Training Course under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association Jammu Regional Centre at Indian Oil Corporation, Bari Brahmana, Jammu from 23rd Jan, 2017 to 27th Jan, 2017.
More than 15 Employees of Indian Oil Corporation, Bari Brahmana, Jammu took part in the said training course with the motive that it is mandatory for the employees while working in the Private Entrepreneurs in order to take safety measures in this regards. The training was conducted under the directions of Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Chairman of IRCS, Jammu Region (Divisional Commissioner) Jammu. First-Aid Training imparted to College students
The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance Association, Regional Centre Jammu organized First-Aid Training Programme for the students of Govt. Women College, Parade which concluded today i.e. 30th Sept.,2016. 64Girls-College students who were imparted the training were quite enthusiastic and took active part in the demonstration and gained the practical experience besides getting theoretical knowledgeand are now trained First-Aiders. The said training was imparted under the directions of Dr.PawanKotwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and supervision of Mr. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region. Dr.Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer, GMC Jammu, and Dr.Simriti Medical Officers of Red Cross Dispensary imparted training and Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Red Cross assisted by Shri Des Raj and Joginder Sharma conducted the exam.
The main objective of this very First-Aid Training was to make every one aware how to protect themselves from further loss in case of accidents, border firings, heart related sudden problems. More particularly, how to lift an injured and a serious patient etc. and board him/her on the first available means of transport. Besides, how as a trained First-Aider one can provide immediate help in the first Golden Hour to the sufferers during natural calamities, accidents and disasters etc. by applying the tit-bits learned during the training.
Dr. Aruna Dubey, College Principal also threw light on the importance of First-Aid Training and impressed upon the Trainees to remember the tips given and extend help to the needy at the time of any emergency by providing First-Aid, that will be your biggest contribution to the Society if you are instrumental in Saving precious Lives.”

More than 30 students participated and learnt all skills of First Aid Training. Indian Red Cross Society Jammu team led by Hony. Secretary Sh. Dinesh Gupta organised Awareness Programme about the latest First Aid techniques to National Medico Organization volunteers who had reached Jammu from across the country to hold three days Health Awareness Camps across the Jammu Division. 60 volunteers of National Medico Organization (Doctors) attended the programme where Dr. Simriti, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary explained them about the latest First-Aid techniques. Shri Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, IRCS Jammu Region briefed the participants of National Medico Organization about the Red Cross Movement, its Aims & Objects besides the organisational set-up and requested them to be part of this humanitarian agency.
Dr. Bais Dev, Associate Prof. Orthopaedic Deptt., GMC, Jammu discussed about the methodology to be adopted for injury prevention which includes counselling of teenagers and young population who faces the most of the injuries during accident.

Red Cross Imparts First Aid Training at Samba.
Fifth Batch of four days First Aid/ First Medical Responder Course organized by Indian Red Cross Society ,Regional Branch Jammu under POA Project sponsored by IRCS, National Head Quarters, New Delhi w.e.f 25hh July,2016 at District Conference Hall, Samba which was inaugurated by Dr. Rajeev Sharma CMO, Samba (Treasurer, District Red Cross Society, Samba) concluded on 28th July, 2016.
The training was successfully imparted to more than 30 employees of various Departments and Volunteers from different NGOs by BLS trained Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Bias Dev, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, and Dr. Simriti with the aim to create a team of trained volunteers who could be useful to save lives at the time of exigencies by providing first aid.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rajeev Sharma, CMO, Samba thanked Regional Red Cross Society for organizing such training programme which will be useful in emergency situations at the time of Motor Vehicle accidents in the hilly belt/ National Highway where medical facilities are not adequately available.
Mrs. Sheetal Nanda, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Samba who is also Chairperson of District Red Cross Society, Samba visited the training centre and interacted with the trainees. While interacting, she impressed the trainees to take part in the said training with zeal and zest and after completion of training provide First Aid during any eventuality. Mrs. Sheetal Nanda also appreciated the efforts of Regional Red Cross Society for organizing the First Aid Training Programme at District Samba. She stressed upon the need to organize such programmes at regular intervals at district as well as block level to sensitise volunteers to deal with situations like road accidents , fire and other natural calamities and save precious lives.

4 Days First Aid Training Course concludes
The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance Association, Region Centre Jammu organized First Aid Training Programme to the Commercial Vehicle Driver/ conductor and employees of IFCA Bottling Company, Gangyal, Jammu concluded at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu and on 21st July , 2016 in which more than 30 Participants took part in the said training , started from 18th July ,2016 which is mandatory for all Driving License holders to go through detailed First Aid Training in order to save the precious lives during un-toward accidents. Medical Responder Cum First Aid Training Course
The four day first medical responder cum first aid training course organised by district administration with the support of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was concluded at Community Hall Maitra here today, District Development Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Aijaz was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the four day training programme by the IRCS, Jammu and assured of all help by the district administration. He called for the updation of the training and underlined the need for availability of more and more sophisticated equipments to the volunteers.
Some mock drills by the volunteers attending the training from Rural Development Department, Education, ICDS, ASHA workers were also exhibited on the occasion.
During the 4-day training the resource persons imparted the training to the 25 volunteers in First Aid basics, Safe handling and shifting of the injured, basic life support, psychological support, Triage in emergency etc under the sponsorship of St. Jhon Ambulance Association (a sister organisation of IRCS).

First Medical Responder Course training programme
A four day First Aid/ First Medical Responder Course training programme organized by Indian Red Cross Society supported by IRCS NHQ New Delhi concluded on 2nd June, 2016 at District Hospital Doda.

The training was successfully imparted to the teachers, ASHA workers, VLW’s, social workers and volunteers from different NGOs by the resource persons of health department with the aim to create a team of trained people who can save lives in the time of emergency by providing first aid without any medical equipments.

RED CROSS ORGANIZES FREE MEDICAL CAMP FOR BORDER AREA PEOPLE (Rangpur Treva)
To alleviate the human sufferings and also to carry forward the humanitarian services in order to provide proper Health check up to the border people, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organizes a Free Medical Checkup Camp for border people at Village Rangpur Treva Tehsil R.S Pura District Jammu in collaboration with Tiger Division of Indian Army C/o 56, APO. on 16th Dec., 2015. During the camp more than 200 patients of different ailments got examined by a team of Doctors of Red Cross namely Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary, Dr. Huma Hamid and Dr. Sharang Gupta assisted by Shri Sohan Lal, Pharmacist and Smt. Sangeeta Devi, FMPHW. Free Medicines were also provided to the patients. Besides this, 7th Batch of three days First Aid Training Programme was also organized there from 14th Dec., 2015 which was concluded today the 16th Dec., 2015 to spread the awareness of safety and immediate succour to needy which is a cause of concern due to prevailing security situations in border villages due to un provoked firing across the border from time to time in which more than 30 participants were trained in First Aid Training by the well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr, Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. Rajinder Thappa Causality Medical Officer, Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu. Brig S.K. S. Chauhan , Commander Miran Sahib Brigade interacted and felicitated all the participants with Provisional Certificates and first aid kits which were provided by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in the presence of Col. Jasbir Singh.
Brig S.K. S. Chauhan while speaking on the occasion appreciated the support extended by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu by organizing the first aid training programme and free Medical Check up Camp for the people of border village Ranpur Treva Tehsil R.S. Pura, Distt. Jammu sector successfully and hoped that such type of camps shall be organized in future also.
Col. Jasbir Singh also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts made by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region for organizing First Aid/Free Medical Checkup Camp at Border village and stress upon the Youth of Border Village to come forward and join hands with Red Cross for this noble cause.

Red Cross Organized First Aid Training at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu
Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized a three days first aid training course in collaboration with of NSS Unit of the College w.e.f. 27th Oct., 2015 for the students of the College to acquaint themselves with regard to first aid training course to meet out any emergency during man made or natural calamities wherein faculty members, Incharge NSS Unit Ms.. Amit Pal Kour and Ms. Neelam Thappa, Volunteers and students of Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu participated in the First Aid Camp.
The First Aid Training is being imparted by the well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital, Jammu and Dr. Rohini Bhan of Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Miss Neha Thakur, Red Cross Volunteer and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu dwelt upon the importance of the First Aid in order to save the Human Lives and stressed upon the students to take part in the said training with zeal and zest and after completion of the said course provide first aid help to the injured person as well as to the needy and said it is the urgent need to trained the common people in disaster management and first aid.
On this occasion, Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu exhorted upon the College Staff particularly the students to come forward to strengthen social institution like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering their services for the humanitarian cause. FIRST AID TRAINING COURSE OF KATHUA DISTRICT EMPLOYEES CONCLUDED OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The five days first aid training course of 1ST Batch of the employees of Rural Development Department of Kathua District from 19th to 26th Oct., 2015 to acquaint the public at large with regard to first aid training course to meet out any emergency during man made or natural calamities especially when the heavy firing is going on across the border & most of the people are being injured concluded at Indian Red Cross Society, Kachi Chawni, Jammu today the 26th Oct.,2015.

During the camp more than 150 patients of different ailments got examined by a team of Doctors of Red Cross namely Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary, Dr. John Mohd. and Dr. Bilal Rashid assisted by Shri Sohan Lal, Pharmacist and Smt. Sangeeta Devi, FMPHW. Free Medicines were also provided to the patients. Besides this, 6th Batch of three days First Aid Training Programme was also organized there from 19th Oct., 2015 which was concluded today the 21st Oct., 2015 to spread the awareness of safety and immediate succour to needy which is a cause of concern due to prevailing security situations in border villages due to un provoked firing across the border from time to time in which more than 30 participants including 11 boys and 19 Girls were trained in First Aid Training by the well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa Causality Medical Officer, Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Munish, Sr. Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. M.L Sharma (Retd.) assisted by Miss Neha Thakur Volunteer of Red Cross. Provisional Certificates and first aid kits were also provided to the trainees by Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of Maj. Arpan Rai of 26 Div. As a continue process to spread the awareness of personal safety and immediate succour to needy which is a cause of concern due to prevailing security situations in border villages due to un provoked firing across the border from time to time. 5th three days First Aid Training Course for border villages organized at village Teoraynappu-Gole Pattan in Kana Chack Sector District Jammu was concluded today the 7th October,2015 .The first aid training was imparted by a team of well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa Causality Medical Officer, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Munish, Sr. Orthopaedic Surgeon , Dr. Yamnie Wazir from Viveka Nand Hospital, Jammu, Dr, Irfan Ahmad and Dr. Yasmeen Qamer assisted by Pharmacist Shri Sohan Lal. The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with 19 Brigade under Tiger Division and Swami Viveka Nand Hospital, Jammu from 5th October, 2015 to 7th October, 2015 in which 15 boys were trained by the experts, distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits to the trainees by GOC 19 Brigade under Tiger Division and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. Besides this, a Free Medical Check up Camp was also organized there ( village Teoraynappu-Gole Pattan, in which number of patients of different ailments got examined and provided free medicines.

The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Tiger Division 19 Brigade 25 Punjab from 29th September, 2015 to Ist October, 2015 in which more than 25 participants including 13 girls and 12 boys were trained by the experts , distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits to the trainees by Brig. S.K.S.Chauhan, Miran Sahib Brigade Command and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Miran Sahib Brigade under Tiger Division from 21st September ,2015 to 23rd September,2015 in which more than 38 participants including 12 girls and 26 boys were trained by the experts , distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits donated by Mahavir International Jammu Centre to the trainees by Brig. S.K.S.Chauhan,Miran Sahib Brigade Command and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Miran Sahib Brigade under Tiger Division from 15th September ,2015 to 17th September,2015 in which more than 49 participants including 26 girls and 23 boys were trained by the experts and distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits donated by Mahavir International Jammu Centre to the trainees by Brig. S.K.S.Chauhan,Miran Sahib Brigade Command and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. Besides this, a Free Medical Check up Camp was also organized there( village Sai) in which number of patients of different ailments got examined and provided free medicines.

Red Cross celebrates “WORLD FIRST AID DAY”
To commemorate “WORLD FIRST AID DAY” Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with St. John Ambulance Association Regional Centre Jammu celebrated “WORLD FIRST AID DAY” on 12-09-2015 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu
On this day, Red Cross organized a First Aid Training Programme to the VLWs’/MPW’s of Rural Development Deptt. and Commercial Vehicle drivers. The said training was imparted by a team of Doctors which included Dr. Sudershan Gupta, Ex-Prof. & HOD of Anaesthesia and Dr. Akshay Gupta, Sr. Opthopedician, Consultants of Swami Vivekanand Hospital Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital , Jammu, Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma.
The main objective of the First Aid Training was to make every one aware how to protect themselves during accidents, border firing and how to provide immediate First Aid to the sufferers during natural calamities, accidents and disasters.
Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region threw light on the importance of First Aid Training and impressed upon the First Aid Trainees to help the needy at the time of any emergency by providing First Aid and Save precious Lives.
First Aid Training concludes
Three days First Aid training commenced on 7-09-2015 and concluded on 9-09-2015. The said training course was imparted to the victims of border firing of village Jora Farm, R.S. Pura, Jammu by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association in collaboration with Tiger Division of Indian Army C/o 56, APO.
The main object of the First Aid Training to make the border people aware how to protect themselves during border firing and during any such eventualities. The first training was imparted by Doctor Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer. Besides this a free medical check-up camp was also organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region on 9-09-2015 wherein large number of people got examined by the Red Cross Dispensary Doctors assisted by the Pharmacists of Red Cross. During the Camp free medicines were distributed among the patients. Provisional First Aid Certificated were provided to the successful candidates by the Red Cross.
Brigade Commander Shri Chouhan of Tiger Division was the Chief Guest where as Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region was the Guest of Honour.
Sh. Chouhan appreciated the support of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region by organized the First Aid Training Programme and free medical check up at Border Village Jora Farm, R.S. Pura, Jammu successful and hoped that such type of camps shall be organised in future also.

Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu has started five days first aid training course under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association at the Regional Centre Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu w.e.f 17th August,2015 which is being imparted to the field functionaries of Rural Development Department of Jammu province and others by the team of Doctors who are well versed with the subject.
The 2nd batch of the said training course which was started on 24th August,2015 and concluded on its training after taking their exam on 28-08-2015. The said training was imparted by a team of Doctors which included Dr. Rajinder Thapa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital , Jammu, Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer and Dr. Kavita Nijhon of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma (Retd.)

The Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu under the aegis of St. John Ambulance Association starts five days First Aid Training Programme at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu from 17th August,2015.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is also the Chairman Indian Red Cross Society ,Jammu Region was the Chief Guest on the occasion and inaugurated the five days first aid training programme being imparted to the field functionaries of Rural Development Department Jammu . Shri M.L.Raina , KAS, Director , Rural Development Department, Jammu presided over the function and Dr. A. D.Singh, main resource person from Health Department was also present on the occasion.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS while addressing the first aid trainees appreciated the efforts of Red Cross and Rural Development Department for organizing this event and stressed upon the trainees to take part in the said training with zeal & zest and emphasised that they have to provide first aid to the affected people in their respective areas during any natural calamities/disaster or border firing etc. He also narrated his personal experience as Doctor on first aid and its importance in the remote areas.
Field functionaries ( VLWs/MPWs) from Rural Development Department are taking part in the said training . The main objective of the programme was to impart training on first aid principles of First Aid, first aid kit demonstration & its maintenance, unconsciousness/ shock/ cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) , First Aid in emergencies Burns/ Bleeding/ Injuries/ fractures/ Dressing /Bandaging, safe handling and transportation of patients in order to acquaint themselves to meet out any emergency .Dr. Rohini Bhan of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma (Retd) are imparting the training .
Shri R.C.Puri , Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu presented welcome address and also threw light on the importance of first aid training bedsides Red Cross activities and said it is the urgent need of the hour to train common people in disaster management and first aid in view of off and on firing across the border, the life of inhabitants remains at risk in absence of medical and paramedical support readily available so it becomes necessary to impart first aid training to the youth in order to provide immediate first aid to the sufferers . He also stressed upon the participants to come forward & strengthen social institutions like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering their services for the humanitarian cause.

Red Cross Imparts First Aid Training
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in continuation its campaign for First Aid started four days First Aid Training Course under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association Regional Centre at Red Cross Bhawan, kachi Chawni, Jammu on 29-06-2015.
Number of participants (commercial drivers/cleaners) are taking part in the said training course with the motive that it is mandatory for all the driving licence holder to go through detailed First Aid Training in order to save the precious lives during untoward accidents. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer is imparting First Aid Training which is being assisted by Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist and other medicos.
Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu gave detailed presentation about the First Aid Training and impressed upon the trainers to take part in the said training with zest and zeal and besides it appreciated the role of Mr. Ashwani Khajuria, RTO, Jammu who directed the drives/cleaners of commercial vehicle to acquaint them selves with the First Aid Training Course from Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region where the expert Doctors imparts the training. The Secretary further appealed to the general public particularly Private Entrepreneurs and every citizens to take part in the First Aid Training Course which is being imparted on every Monday of 2nd and 4th week of the month regularly at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu

More than 20 participants (officials) from various Organizations/Driving Institutions/ Private Entrepreneurs viz M/S Berger Paints Samba, M/S Versatile Polytech. Bari Brahmana, Commercial Vehicle drivers, Shri Sita Ram Sharma, Executive Committee Member of IRCS, Region Jammu, Shri Sanjay Nanda, Life Member and others are taking part in the said training. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer is imparting First Aid Training which is being assisted by Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist.

Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu launches four days First Aid Training Programme on 21-07-2014 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance, Regional Centre, Jammu who is the sister organization of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu to the staff members of Fortune Inn Riviera, Jammu which was inaugurated by Mr. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu who while addressing the participants gave a detailed back ground of the Red Cross Movement and asked them to attend the said First Aid Training Course with zest & zeal so as to acquaint themselves properly to be able to extend the required help at the time of need. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary will impart the four days First Aid Training programme whereas Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary will conduct the exam of the trainers.
