  • FIRST AID TRAINING/ FREE MEDICAL CAMP FOR BORDER VILLAGES ORGANIZED.

As a continue process to spread the awareness of personal safety and immediate succour to needy which is a cause of concern due to prevailing security situations in border villages due to un provoked firing across the border, 4th three days First Aid Training Course for border villages organized at village Hamir Pur (Khona)Pargwal, in Akhnoor Sector District Jammu was concluded today the Ist October, 2015 .The first aid training was imparted by a team of well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa Causality Medical Officer, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Amit Mania from PHC Dansal, Dr. Palvi Thappa , M.D & Dr. Yamnie Wazir from Viveka Nand Hospital, Jammu assisted by Pharmacist Shri Sohan Lal. The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Tiger Division 19 Brigade 25 Punjab from 29th September, 2015 to Ist October, 2015 in which more than 25 participants including 13 girls and 12 boys were trained by the experts , distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits to the trainees by the representative of Indian Army (Tiger Division) and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu. Besides this, a Free Medical Check up Camp was also organized there( village Hamirpur (Khona) Pargwal) in which number of patients of different ailments were got examined and provided free medicines.

Representative of Tiger Division while speaking on the occasion appreciated the support extended by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in organizing the first aid training programme and free Medical Check up Camp for the people of border village Hamir Pur (Khona) Pargwal successfully and hoped that such type of camps shall be organized in future also.

  • RED CROSS IMPARTS FIRST AID TRAINING AND FREE MEDICAL CAMP FOR YOUTH OF BORDER VILLAGES.

District Jammu was concluded on 7th October,2015 .The first aid training was imparted by a team of well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa Causality Medical Officer, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Munish, Sr. Orthopaedic Surgeon , Dr. Yamnie Wazir from Viveka Nand Hospital, Jammu, Dr, Irfan Ahmad and Dr. Yasmeen Qamer assisted by Pharmacist Shri Sohan Lal. The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with 19 Brigade under Tiger Division and Swami Viveka Nand Hospital, Jammu from 5th October, 2015 to 7th October, 2015 in which 15 boys were trained by the experts, distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits to the trainees by GOC 19 Brigade under Tiger Division and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. Besides this, a Free Medical Check up Camp was also organized there ( village Dheuda, Marh.) in which number of patients of different ailments got examined and provided free medicines.
Representative of Tiger Division while speaking on the occasion appreciated the support extended by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in organizing the first aid training programme and free Medical Check up Camp for the people of border village Dheuda (Marh.) successfully and hoped that such type of camps shall be organized in future also.

  • Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner Jammu (Chairman) and Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region distributed financial assistance to, two injured persons (driver & cleaner) of Kashmir bound truck admitted in Govt. Medical College, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.

 

  • The NSS and Red Cross Units of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and Govt PG Department of Blood Transfusion, GMC Jammu organized a Blood Donation Camp to mark National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 12-10-2015.

Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Ms. Sarita Chouhan, IAS along with Principal of College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, R.C. Puri,  and Dr. Vijay Sawhney, Head, Blood Transfusion & Medicine Department, GMC, Jammu, inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi lauded the overwhelming curiosity among the female students to donate blood so voluntarily and enthusiastically for the cause of humanity. While interacting with blood donors, Mr Puri and Dr. Sawhney also appreciated extended volunteerism among students towards blood donation and the college at large for organizing two camps in an academic session for the past consecutive three years.

More than 30 students including NSS and Red Cross volunteers and staff members of college donated the blood on the occasion.  Prof. Ashwani Khajuria (Food Science) and all three NSS Programme Officers in College Prof. Amitpal Kour, Prof. Neelam Thapa and Dr. Ashaq Malik, also Co-ordinator of Red Cross Unit,  were also among the blood donors.

 

  • RED CROSS GIFTED DUST BINS (GARBAGE BUCKETS)
    TO GOVT.COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, GANDHINAGAR, JAMMU.

Under Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region Jammu organized a function to this effect on 13th October,2015 at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the College wherein faculty members, Incharge NSS Unit Prof. Ashiq Malik , volunteers and other students participated to clean the College premises. During the course of function, Red Cross gifted 10 Nos. of Dust Bins ( Garbage-Buckets) to Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College by Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu for keeping the premises and Peripheries ( surroundings) neat and clean in order to encourage the students of the College to come forward for this noble cause.
While speaking on the occasion , Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhinagar, Jammu dwelt upon the importance of cleanliness to save human lives from different diseases besides giving good face look to the surroundings and also appreciated the efforts of Red Cross Society, Region Jammu for gifting of Dust Bins for up-keeping the premises and surroundings of the College .

On this occasion, Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu exhorted upon the College Staff and the students to come forward in order to make this a regular habit of cleanliness in and around of their respective locality and also make efforts for the awareness about cleanliness among the general masses. Further, he assured that Red Cross will provide more Dust Bins to other Schools and Colleges for cleanliness of their premises/surroundings and now it is for the youth to ensure regular cleanliness of the College premises and its surroundings and said that Swach Bharat Abhiyan will be a regular activity in the College.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion are Prof. Amitpal Kour, Prof. Neelam Thapa and Dr. Ashaq Malik, also Co-ordinator of Red Cross Unit, assured to implement the campaign to the best of its spirit at college level.

 

  • RED CROSS ORGANIZES FREE MEDICAL CAMP FOR BORDER AREA PEOPLE (Mukwal)

To alleviate the human sufferings and also to carry forward the humanitarian services in order to provide proper Health check up to the border people, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organizes a Free Medical Checkup Camp for border people at Village Makwal (Phallian Mandal) District Jammu in collaboration with 26 Tiger Division 19 Brigade of 4 JAK RIF, Coy ‘C’ Hussiani Wala on 21st Oct., 2015. During the camp more than 150 patients of different ailments got examined by a team of Doctors of Red Cross namely Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary, Dr. John Mohd. and Dr. Bilal Rashid assisted by Shri Sohan Lal, Pharmacist and Smt. Sangeeta Devi, FMPHW. Free Medicines were also provided to the patients. Besides this, 6th Batch of three days First Aid Training Programme was also organized there from 19th Oct., 2015 which was concluded today the 21st Oct., 2015 to spread the awareness of safety and immediate succour to needy which is a cause of concern due to prevailing security situations in border villages due to un provoked firing across the border from time to time in which more than 30 participants including 11 boys and 19 Girls were trained in First Aid Training by the well versed Doctors on the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa Causality Medical Officer, Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Munish, Sr. Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. M.L Sharma (Retd.) assisted by Miss Neha Thakur Volunteer of Red Cross. Provisional Certificates and first aid kits were also provided to the trainees by Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of Maj. Arpan Rai of 26 Div. Tiger Division.
Maj. Arpan Rai while speaking on the occasion appreciated the support extended by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu by organizing the first aid training programme and free Medical Check up Camp for the people of border village Makwal (Phallian Mandal) sector successfully and hoped that such type of camps shall be organized in future also.

  • FIRST AID TRAINING COURSE OF KATHUA DISTRICT EMPLOYEES CONCLUDED OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

The five days first aid training course of 1ST Batch of the employees of Rural Development Department of Kathua District from 19th to 26th Oct., 2015 to acquaint the public at large with regard to first aid training course to meet out any emergency during man made or natural calamities especially when the heavy firing is going on across the border & most of the people are being injured concluded at Indian Red Cross Society, Kachi Chawni, Jammu today the 26th Oct.,2015.

The said training has been imparted voluntarily by a team Senior Doctors who are well versed with the subject namely Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. M.L.Sharma (Retd.), Dr. Rohini Bhan & Dr. Kavita Nijohn of Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu.

Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu while speaking on the valedictory function stressed upon the participants to take part in the said training with zeal and zest and after completion of the said course provide first aid help to the injured of border firing as well as to the needy and said it is the urgent need to train common people in disaster management and first aid. He stressed upon the youth to come forward to strengthen social institution like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering their services for the humanitarian cause.

 

  • Red Cross Organized First Aid Trainingat Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu

National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu culminated three day’s first aid training camp from 27th to 29th October, 2015. On this occasion, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the Chief Guest whereas R.C Puri, Secretary Indian Red Cross Society was also present. Students were given training to meet any kind of contingency arising out of natural, accidental or man created disaster and to provide first aid to the victims of these accidents. Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College, appreciated the initiative of NSS Unit to prepare the students as life saviours in case of any calamity. Dr. Kotwal stressed the need of disaster management training programmes to become regular feature so that a large number of well trained human resource be created. R.C Puri asserted the students to spread this knowledge to others also so as calamity rate can be reduced. He also encouraged them to extend helping hand to the suffering humanity. NSS volunteers were given certificates. Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Amitpal, NSS Programme Officer. NSS Programme Officers Prof. Ashaq Malik and Prof. Neelam Thapa coordinated the programme

 

  • Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Rotary Club Jammu, Blood Transfusion Department GMC, Jammu and J&K State AIDS Control Society on 28-10-2015 at Wave Mall, Channi Himmat, Jammu. The Camp was inaugurated by Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Hon’ble MLA, Jammu East in presence of Sh. R.K. Chouhan, President, Rotary Club Jammu, Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Dr. Vijay Sawhney, HOD, Blood Transfusion Department, Jammu.

Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Hon’ble MLA, Jammu East while speaking on the occasion appreciated the joint efforts made by the Rotary Club, Red Cross and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu for organizing the Blood Donation Camp.

  • Five days first aid training course to the employees of Rural Development Department of Samba District has been started on 31st August,2015 to acquaint the public at large with regard to first aid training course to meet out any emergency during man made or natural calamities especially when the heavy firing is going on across the border & most of the people are being injured under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association at the Regional Centre Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu concluded on          5th September, 2015.

The said training has been imparted voluntarily by a team Senior Doctors who are well versed with the subject namely Dr. Sudershan Gupta, Ex-Prof. & HOD of Anaesthesia, Dr. Rajinder Thapa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Akshay Gupta. Ortho. Surgeon, Dr.Ranbhushan Singh , Ortho. Surgeon, Dr. M.L.Sharma (Retd), Dr. Rohini Bhan & Dr. Kavita Nijohn of Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu.

Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS Divisional Commissioner who is also the Chairman Indian Red Cross Society Region, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion and while addressing the first aid trainees appreciated the efforts of Red Cross & Rural Development Department for starting this programme and stressed upon the trainees to provide first aid to the affected people in their respective areas during any natural calamities / disaster or border firing etc.

  • To spread the awareness of personal safety and immediate succor to needy which is a cause of concern due to prevailing security situation in border villages, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Miran Sahib Brigade under the Tiger Div. Organized a three days. First Aid Traininf Camp for the Youth of border Villages at border village Jeora Farm in Tehsil R.S. Pura which concluded on 9-9-2015. A total of 21 participants including six girls and ladies were trained by the experts doctors of Indian Red Cross Society to save precious lives at the time of need by providing First Aid. The participants were given hand on practical training on various methods of First Aid. Brig S.K.S. Chauhan Commander, Miran Sahib, Brigade interacted and felicitated all the participants with certificates and First Aid Kits in presence of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region. A medical camp was also organized for the people of Jeora Farm village in which number of patients of different ailments were got checked up and free medicines were provided to the patients. The Brigade Commander assured them that pilot project of training in First Aid will be conducted in maximum border villages in future also in collaboration with IRCS, Jammu Region.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region thanked the Brigade Commander for his commendable   support during the Camp and assured such type of support from Red Cross will continue in future also.

 

  • Red Cross Organizes MCH and Immunization Camp

To provide proper health and medical facilities to poor/needy patients to their door step, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in its routine organized Immunization Camp in Slum Areas (Jhuggies) of Mishri Wala, Muthi and Damana Jammu on 11-09-2015. About 50 women / children were administered doses by a medical team of MCH and immunization centre IRCS Jammu Region. Smt. Tripta Devi, LHV and Smt.Sangita Devi. FMPHW.The camp was conducted under the supervision of Shri.R.C Puri.

 

 

  • Red Cross celebrates “WORLD FIRST AID DAY”

To commemorate “WORLD FIRST AID DAY” Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with St. John Ambulance Association Regional Centre Jammu celebrated “WORLD FIRST AID DAY” on 12-09-2015 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu

On this day, Red Cross organized a First Aid Training Programme to the VLWs’/MPW’s of Rural Development Deptt. and Commercial Vehicle drivers. The said training was imparted by a team of Doctors which included Dr. Sudershan Gupta, Ex-Prof. & HOD of Anaesthesia and Dr. Akshay Gupta, Sr. Opthopedician, Consultants of Swami Vivekanand Hospital Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital , Jammu, Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma.

The main objective of the First Aid Training was to make every one aware how to protect themselves during accidents, border firing and how to provide immediate First Aid to the sufferers during natural calamities, accidents and disasters.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region threw light on the importance of First Aid Training and impressed upon the First Aid Trainees to help the needy at the time of any emergency by providing First Aid and Save precious Lives.

 

  • Afcons and Konkan Railways employees donates Blood on Engineers Day
    Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu, J&K State Aid Control Society, Jammu and District Red Cross Society, Reasi organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at the site of Chenab Railway Bridge (Worlds Highest Railway Bridge) being constructed by Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. and Konkan Railways at Village Kouri in District Reasi on “Engineers Day”. The Camp was inaugurated by Sh. S.M. Vishva Murthy, Project Manager, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. besides this, other dignitaries from Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. , Konkan Railways , IRCS, Jammu Region and Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu also participated in the programme— Sh. P. Subramanim Dy. General Manger, Sh. Bhoj Prasad- HR Admin. Head, Sh. Arun Chakraborty-Account Officer, Sh. K.C. Padhri- Account Manager, Sh. Yogesh Ojha- Sr. Manager Fab., Sh. Ravindra Jha- Sr. Manager Fab., Sh. R.C Puri- Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region, Dr. Vijay Sawhney-HOD, Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu and Sh.K.L. Verma, Life Members IRCS, Jammu Region.
    In the said Camp more than 105 donors (Engineers and Employees of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. And Konkan Railways) donated their blood voluntarily with great enthusiasm.

Vishva Murthy, Project Manager, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. while speaking to the present audiences thanked IRCS, Jammu Region, Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu and JKSACS, Jammu and District Red Cross Society, Reasi for their co-ordinated efforts in making the camp a grand success at such a hilly and for flung areas. He emphasised on Red Cross to arrange such Blood Donation Camp in future also. He also appreciated the efforts taken by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region) Jammu and Smt. Sushma Chauhan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (Chairman, District Red Cross Society) Reasi for providing timely support out of Red Cross in organizing the above said camp successfully.

The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Miran Sahib Brigade under Tiger Division from 15th September ,2015 to 17th September,2015 in which more than 49 participants including 26 girls and 23 boys were trained by the experts and distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits donated by Mahavir International Jammu Centre to the trainees by Brig. S.K.S.Chauhan,Miran Sahib Brigade Command and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience. Besides this, a Free Medical Check up Camp was also organized there( village Sai) in which number of patients of different ailments got examined and provided free medicines.

The camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Miran Sahib Brigade under Tiger Division from 21st September ,2015 to 23rd September,2015 in which more than 38 participants including 12 girls and 26 boys were trained by the experts , distributed the provisional certificates and first aid kits donated by Mahavir International Jammu Centre to the trainees by the representative of Miran Sahib Brigade Command and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in the presence of jam packed audience.

 

 

 

Besides this, a Free Medical Check up Camp was also organized there( village Abdullian) in which number of patients of different ailments got examined and provided free medicines.

The representative of Miran Sahib Brigade Command while speaking on the occasion appreciated the support extended by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in organizing the first aid training programme and free Medical Check up Camp for the people of border village Sai successfully and hoped that such type of camps shall be organized in future also.

Organized a Free Diabetic awareness camp at Canal Road Walk Way, Jammu for creating awareness among the public in which more than 100 people of all walk of life i.e Senior Citizens, Young ones have got their sugar fasting tests and were made aware about their life style and Dietary habits for their alarming rise in the Diabetic population/patients .

The Camp was organized on 2nd August,2015 from 6 A.M. keeping in view that large number of walkers throng the path in the early hours when Sugar fasting can be testing during this time under the supervision of its Hony. Secretary Shri R.C.Puri.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. POL Depot, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 9-08-2015 in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu, Blood Transfusion Department, Govt. Medical College , J&K State Aids Control Society, Jammu at Red Cross Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu wherein officers/Officials of the HPCL donated their blood voluntarily.

Shri Manish Tandon, Chief Regional Manager of HPCL, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion and inaugurated the Camp and appreciated the efforts of the Red Cross for extending their full cooperation for organizing Blood Donation Camp a grand success and hoped to continue such kind of support in future also.

Shri R.C.Puri ,Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu who was present on the occasion delivered a motivational lecture on the importance of voluntary blood donation and appealed the public at large particularly the youth to come forward for this noble cause in order to save the precious human lives by donating blood voluntarily.

On 11-08-2015 the lady wing of Mahavir International, Jammu Centre in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu distributed 100 New Born Baby Kits (Soft & Hygienic Infant Wear) which include Baby Mattress, Baby Jacket, Baby Cap, Baby Diaper and Baby Blanket to the newly born babies in Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu in order to save the newly born babies from infection diseases. The items were distributed to the newly born babies by Mrs. Rajni Jain, Secretary, Mahavir International, Jammu Centre, Mrs. Leena Jain, Member and other Members .Dr. Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent, Govt. SMGS Hospital, Jammu appreciated the efforts made by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region by providing baby kits among the poor/needy newly born babies.

On the eve of Independence Day, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Regional Office Jammu organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region and Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical Jammu at RBI Complex on 13-08-2015

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal and D. Sethy, Regional Director, RBI, J&K State jointly inaugurated the camp by donating a unit of blood each. This was followed by the Senior Officers Ramesh Chand & Suresh Sharma, GMs, P.K.Jain & Vinod Kumar, Dy.GMs, many AGMs, Managers, Secretaries and members of Association/Union of Class III /IV staff donating the blood.

The Red Cross team was headed by its Secretary R. C. Puri assisted by Committee Members, Dr. Renu Nanda, Navneet Kour, Sita Ram Sharma and other staff members. The Blood Bank team was headed by Dr. Sonia Gupta supported by other doctors & para-medical staff.

Highlighting the importance of blood donation, Divisional Commissioner said that it is a great service to mankind and everyone should donate blood voluntarily as many times as possible to save precious human lives. He appealed the people, especially youth to come forward and join this humanitarian cause.

Dr. Kotwal appreciated the efforts of RBI, Red Cross Society and Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical Jammu for organizing this significant event and maintained that many NGOs and social organizations are doing commendable job to promote this great cause. He said that such camps will help the blood banks in health institutions to save the precious human lives in the time of emergency.

Speaking on the occasion, Regional Director, RBI said that blood donation is a very noble cause and every healthy person must contribute to fill the big gap between the demand and supply to save precious lives.

The 5 days First Aid Training Programme organized under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu concluded on 14th August,2015.

Number of participants particularly Commercial vehicle Drivers/ Cleaners participated in the said training programme. The main objective of the programme was to impart training on First Aid basic principles of First Aid, first aid kit demonstration & its maintenance, unconsciousness/shock/ cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid in emergencies Burns/Bleeding /injuries/ fractures/ Dressing/Bandaging , safe handling and transportation of patients in order to acquaint themselves to meet out any emergency while plying their vehicles. Master trainers Dr. M.L.Sharma (Retd) and Dr. Rohini Bhan of Red Cross Dispensary assisted by Shri Sohan Lal Pharmacist imparted the training during the programme.
Shri R. C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu highlighted its importance and said it is the urgent need to train common people in disaster management and first aid. He stressed upon the youth to come forward to strengthen social institutions like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering their services for the humanitarian cause. He further said that in order to continuation its drive, the next session of the said training shall be commenced w.e.f 17th instant.

The Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu under the aegis of St. John Ambulance Association starts five days First Aid Training Programme at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu from 17th August,2015.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner,Jammu who is also the Chairman Indian Red Cross Society ,Jammu Region was the Chief Guest on the occasion and inaugurated the five days first aid training programme being imparted to the field functionaries of Rural Development Department Jammu . Shri M.L.Raina , KAS, Director , Rural Development Department, Jammu presided over the function and Dr.A.D.Singh, main resource person from Health Department was also present on the occasion.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS while addressing the first aid trainees appreciated the efforts of Red Cross and Rural Development Department for organizing this event and stressed upon the trainees to take part in the said training with zeal & zest and emphasised that they have to provide first aid to the affected people in their respective areas during any natural calamities/disaster or border firing etc. He also narrated his personal experience as Doctor on first aid and its importance in the remote areas.

Field functionaries ( VLWs/MPWs) from Rural Development Department are taking part in the said training . He also stressed upon the participants to come forward & strengthen social institutions like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering their services for the humanitarian cause.

As a continue process to acquaint the public at large with regard to first aid training course to meet out any emergency during man made or natural calamities on in lieu of Border Firing. Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu has started five days first aid training course under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association at the Regional Centre Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu w.e.f 17th August,2015 which is being imparted to the field functionaries of Rural Development Department of Jammu province and others by the team of Doctors who are well versed with the subject.

The 2nd batch of the said training course which was started on 24th August,2015 and concluded on its training after taking their exam on 28-08-2015. The said training was imparted by a team of Doctors which included Dr. Rajinder Thapa, Causality Medical Officer SMGS Hospital , Jammu, Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer and Dr. Kavita Nijhon of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma (Retd.)

Sh. R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society ,Region Jammu threw light on the importances of First Aid Training and impressed upon them to provide immediate First Aid to the injured persons at the time of accidents, border firing and during natural/man made calamities and emphasised that every body should go for First Aid Training and can registered with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.

Blood Donation Camp

Mahavir International Jammu Centre celebrates 40th Foundation Anniversary

The Mahavir International Jammu Centre organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu and J&K Aids Control Society Jammu at Red Cross Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu on 12-07-2015.

The Camp was inaugurated by Sh. Vir Vinod Jain, Chairman, Mahavir International, Jammu Centre and threw light on the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation and urged the gathering particularly Youth to come forward and donate blood Voluntarily for Humanitarian cause.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region made a brief note on the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation. He also appreciated the spirit of discipline, devotion, dedication and enthusiasm of Mahavir International Jammu Centre for organizing the Blood Donation Camp.

Reliance Communication Donates Blood

Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu and Reliance Communication, Jammu organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 25-07-2015 in the premises of Reliance Communication in collaboration with Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu and J&K State AIDS Control Society, Jammu wherein more than 30 Volunteers of the Reliance Communication, Jammu donated their Blood.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu appreciated the efforts/spirits of the employees of the Reliance Communication for their dedication towards Society for organizing Blood Donation Camp.

The Circle Head, Reliance Communication, Jammu Sh. Sami Butt thanked the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region for making arrangements for successful holding of Blood Donation Camp in their premises and hope such type of support in future also. Red Cross Organizes MCH and Immunization Camp

To provide proper health and medical facilities to poor/needy patients to their door step, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in its routine organized Immunization Camp in Slum Areas (Jhuggies) of Mishri Wala, Muthi and Dayaran Jammu on 28-07-2015.

About 50 children were checked up by Dr. Smily Dutta besides MCH and Immunization doses were also provided to the Women & Children by Smt. Tripta Devi, LHV and Smt. Sangita Devi, FMPHW besides this the Volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region also took part in the campaign.

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized a free medical camp at Red Cross Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu.

A large number of volunteers from Art of living took part  in the Camp, in which over 50 patients of various ailments were examined by a team of Doctors including D. Smily Dutta of Red cross Dispensary, Jammu and Dr. Manik Gupta, dental Surgeon from Art of Living besides Sh.  Joginder Kumar and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacists of Red Cross Dispensary. Free Medicines were also distributed among the patients on the occasion. The Camp was organized under the supervision of its Secretart, Sh. R.C. Puri.

A group of nursing students of Bee Enn College of Nursing, Chak Bhalwal, Jammu visited Red Cross on 26-05-15 and the lecture on the releated subject was delivered by Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary who was assisted by Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist. Besides this Hony. Secretary Sh. R.C. Puri also threw light on the subject and the activities under taken by the Red Cross for the welfare of the poor and down trodden people at large.

No. of  participants (officials) from various Organizations/Driving Institutions/ Private Entrepreneurs viz M/S Berger Paints Samba, M/S Versatile Polytech. Bari Brahmana, Commercial Vehicle drivers, Executive Committee Members of IRCS, Region Jammu and others took part in the said training. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer  imparted First Aid Training which was assisted by Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu gave detailed presentation about the Red Cross activities and impressed upon the trainers  to also encourage others to get training in First Aid to save the people in need.

Celebration of world blood donors day-2015

Every body in this universe is fully aware of the fact that “ Blood  has no substitute and only Blood can substitute Blood. When  anyone  signs a blood donor form, he is signing a lease of life for someone else that is why , donating a pint of blood makes difference between life and death”.

With this positive attitude, a special blood donation camp was organised by the Foundation of Amar Ujala, Jammu in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu , J&K Aids Control Society and Department of Blood Transfusion, Govt. Medical College, Jammu at Red Cross Sarai, MaheshpuraChowk, Jammu on 14th June 2015 on the eve of World Blood Donors Day-2015”

Despite heavy rains , people from all walks of life baring age participated in the said camp in large numbers. Females showed their tremendous commitment towards blood donation. In fact  blood transfusion started with a lady donor Mrs.Neerja Basin who donated one pint of blood. Each one  young and old were very keen in donating blood . Hony. Secretary- Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu  Shri R.C.Puri  at the age of 62 years donated blood for 33rd time.  So was the enthusiasm that one       Shri Suyash Raj Shivam- (18 years of age ), Son of a former Divisional Commissioner, Jammu   Shri Shantmanu  donated blood for the first time  and after donating blood he stressed upon the youths to come forward and donate blood which will give a lease of life to some one. Blood  donation is one of the pious donation one feel proud of. People from all walks of life like Pujaries, Officers, Social Workers, Volunteers, employees, students and the entire family of Amar Ujala came forward in donating blood. Number of unknown persons without revealing their identity also donated blood. One donor  Brig. Manmohan Harjai commended the role of donors particularly those with negative group and requested them  to make habit of donating blood as and when asked for and otherwise  too. People responded to the appeal made by Amar Aujala to donate blood on World Blood Donors Day on 14th June 2015 at Red Cross Sarai, Jammu and made this day a special day. This could not have been possible without the services provided by Dr.Meena Sidhu- In-charge Blood Transfusion Department- Govt. Medical College, Jammu and her team consisting of Sister Renu, Vijay Anand, Balbir and Rafiq.

Team from Amar Ujala, Red Cross Regional Committee, Jammu, J&K Aids Control Society and Department of Blood Transfusion, Govt. Medical College, Jammu  were instrumental in organizing this camp and  above all  tremendous response of the people from all walks of life made this camp a grand success.  All the participants desired  that such camps should be held on regular basis to cater the need of blood.

INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY JAMMU REGION & AARADHAYA YOGA TRUST CELEBRATED INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

In order to recognized the significance of Yoga, INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY, JAMMU REGION in association with Aaradhaya Yoga Trust, Nirvana Academy Regd.Club, and Other likeminded organizations has Celebrated INDYA (International Day of Yoga) with demonstration of yogic postures and practice with a Theme of “ YOGA FOR HARMONY & PEACE” ON 21ST June, 2015 at Peer Kho Park, Circular Road, Jammu in which large number of Sadhaka participated.
Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Hon’ble MLA, Jammu East was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He lauded the role of Indian Red Cross Society, Aaradhaya Yoga Trust and other associated organizations for their philanthropic service to the humanity by organizing this Event.

Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in continuation its campaign for First Aid imparted four days First Aid Training Course under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance Association Regional Centre at Red Cross Bhawan, kachi Chawni, Jammu w.e.f. 29-06-2015.

Number of participants (commercial drivers/cleaners) took part in the said training course with the motive that it is mandatory for all the driving licence holder to go through detailed First Aid Training in order to save the precious lives during untoward accidents. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer imparted First Aid Training which was assisted by Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist and other medicos.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu gave detailed presentation about Red Cross Activities and impressed upon the trainers to also encourage others get the First Aid Training to save the people in need and besides it appreciated the role of Mr. Ashwani Khajuria, RTO, Jammu who directed the drives/cleaners of commercial vehicle to acquaint them selves with the First Aid Training Course from Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region where the expert Doctors imparts the training. The Secretary further appealed to the general public particularly Private Entrepreneurs and every citizens to take part in the First Aid Training Course which is being imparted on every Monday of 2nd and 4th week of the month regularly at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu.

  • As a mark of respect to the departed soul, the founder of Red Cross Movement, ‘SIR HENRY DUNANT’ World Red Cross Day is celebrated all over the World on 8th May every year. At Jammu Head Quarter of the Indian Red Cross Society, the Red Cross Day function started with a Flag  hoisting  ceremony followed by Red Cross Pledge and Prayer by the gathering  led by Red Cross Volunteers. Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS Divisional Commissioner(Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society,Region), Jammu -Chief Guest hoisted the Flag. Floral Tributes were also paid by Dr. Pawan Kotwal,  Ajeet  Sahu, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sh. Shakeel Beigh, DIG, Shri R.C.Puri,Hony. Secretary, IRCSJ, representatives  of ICRC, ,Shri Anil Suri, Brig.(Retd.) Sh. M.M.Harjai, Dinesh Gupta, Mrs.Navneet Kour, R.Vijay Magotra, Miss.Sureshta Khajuria and other distinguish guests.

 Shri R.C.Puri,  Hony. Secretary, Indian Red  Cross Society, Region  Jammu welcomed all the Dignitaries and Distinguish Guests and  briefed  about the very importance  of World Red Cross Day as also about the  set up and  the activities of Indian Red Cross Society.

 The  District Development Commissioner, Jammu in his  address appreciated the  yeomen  service being  rendered by the Red Cross Society through its Volunteers and appealed  people  from all walk of life to come forward and  join hands with Red Cross  to reach out  to the  unreached and help  the  un-helped/under helped poor needy where ever they are .

 Shri Shakeel Beig, DIG in his address reminded all the participants and guests of the great service rendered by the Indian Red Cross Society and invited more and more people to join Red Cross.

Dr. Pawan Kotwal, the Chief Guest also commended the good work done by the Red Cross  from time to time . However, he  said that there is much more scope  of  doing  activities in a coordinated  manner more scientifically so that we reach and cover  the maximum  number of people  who need Red Cross support and asserting that World Red Cross is celebrated every year with an aim to alleviate people’s sufferings, enhance their dignity and protecting their lives from emergencies and disasters, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal emphasized on ensuring that the fundamental principles of Red Cross Organizations  which include humanity, impartiality, voluntary and unity are followed with real spirit.

A few active volunteers and Social Workers of  Red Cross were also honoured on the occasion, they  are S/Shri O.P. Gupta, Paramjeet Kumar, S. Rajinder Singh, Yash Paul Yash, Mukhtiyar Ali, Rajinder Sharma, S. Ajit Singh( Nirankari Mission),  Ms. Sukriti Sharma, Mr. Sadat and  Mr. Vardhman Jain;

2 Counselors  and 12  Campers who represented J&K  State   in  Jr. Red Cross  Training cum study camp  held  at Kurukheshtra ( Haryana) were also  felicitated  by the Chief Guest.

Shri Paramjit Kumar, Red Cross Volunteer  conducted the programme and  Shri Jugal Mahajan  Member of Executive Committee  of IRCS, Jammu  presented  Vote  of Thanks to all those  who have directly and  indirectly helped  Red Cross  Society in making  today’s  programme a grand  Success .

Besides this, District Red Cross Societies of Jammu Region have also been observed this day at their respective Head Quarters.

  • Red Cross organizes Medical Check-up Camp at Village Dori Dagair Block Khara Distt. Jammu on 21-05-2015.

To alleviate the human suffering and also to carry forward the humanitarian services and provide proper Health check-up to the poor/needy people of far flung/remote areas of Jammu Division. Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized a Medical Check-up camp at Village Dori Dagair Blcok Khara Distt. Jammu.

During the camp more than 200 patients of different ailments(General/Anaemia, Eye & Dental problems) were examined by a team of Doctors namely Dr. Rohini Bhan Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary, Dr. Priyanka Parihar B.D.S., Mr. Mukhtar Hussain, Mr. Mudasir Bashir, Interns which were assisted by Sh. Kuldeep Bhat, Sr. Ophthalmic Asstt., Sh. Sohan Lal Pharmacist and Smt. Sangita Devi FMPHW. Free Medicines were also provided to the poor/needy patients.

Prominent among those who were present on this occasion included S/Sh. Madan Lal Sharma Ex-Chairman, Village Dhori Dagair and Mangat Ram Sharma.

  • C. College of Education Donates Blood

Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department GMC, Jammu and J&K State Aids Control Society, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 23-05-2015 in the premises of K.C. College of Education, Jammu. On the occasion many students volunteers and teachers of the college donated blood.

Prior to that the students were encouraged and motivated for blood donation, the noblest cause on the earth by Dr. Shamima Bano, Principal, K.C. College of Education and Programme Officer Dr. Deepshikha Gupta, Dr. Sonia Gupta along with her team Mrs. Sonu Sharma, Counselor, Miss Sunita and Mr. Rakesh as Lab. Technicians and Mr. Bhupinder.

A felicitation function was organised on 21-04-2015 at Raj Bhawan, Jammu to honour the sponsors and supporters of Red Cross Mela and Raffle Draw 2014-15 where Hon’ble Governor, J&K State (President, J&K Red Cross Society) gave  Awards of dignities  to all the Govt./Private Organization which had provided support in sponsoring and organizing Red Cross Mela and Sale of Raffle Draw Tickets which were held on 10th & 11th January, 2015 at Gulshan Ground, Jammu and at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu on 25th March, 2015 respectively.
The Hon’ble Governor on the occasion said that Red Cross is a very important organization which works for the welfare of the humanity.
The Hon’ble Governor observed that adequate resources are required by the District, Regional & State level branches of the society for suitably discharging their roles. He appealed to the banking sector, Industrial and Commercial organizations contribute liberally and espouse the noble objectives of the Red Cross Society. The Hon’ble Governor thanked all the sponsors and support particularly, the Army for participation in the Red Cross Mela for the first time this year.

March, 2015

 Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized an impressive function on the occasion of its Raffle Draw held at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu on 25-03-2015 Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, who is. also the Chairman of IRCS, Region Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

 In his address, Divisional Commissioner threw light on the activities of the Red Cross Society and appealed the masses to extend their wholehearted support to the organization.

 Later, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu taken out the Red Cross Raffle Draw Result in presence of Executive Committee Members of IRCS, Region Jammu and representative of CRPF, BSF, Educational Institutions and Jam packed audiences.

January, 2015:
The Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized two days Mela at Gulshan Ground, Jammu on 10th & 11th January , 2015 which was inaugurated by Sh. N.N. Vohra, Hon’ble Governor J&K State who is also the President of IRCS, J&K State alongwith Lady President of IRCS, J&K State Mrs. Usha Vohra in presence of Sh. Shantmanu, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu) besides various Departments Heads, NGO Heads and prominent citizens were also present. The First Lady and the Governor visited the stall put up at the venue by a large number of Govt./Private Organization, Educational Institutions and Para Military forces. They showed keen interest in the products being displayed and interacted with the students, officers and other who managed the stalls. A colourful cultural programme including dances of different Regions of the country were presented by the students of various educational institution including Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. In the evening open Song Competition was organized by BIG 92.7 FM in which 15 participants (shortlisted out of 150 participants) participated in the Competition. The Jury Members namely Sh. Sham Sajan, Sh. Suraj Singh and Mrs. Kailash Mehra adjudged Aseem Sharma, Nikhil and Sunny Deol winners of Ist, 2nd and 3rd Prize winners respectively. The Chief Guest Sh. Anil K. Padha, Ex- Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu gave away the prizes to the winners. On 11th Jan., 2015 Baby Show was arranged by IRCS, Region Jammu with the active support of Mrs. Navneet Kour, Chairperson, NGO Support, Jammu. Children between the age group of 2 to 8 years participated alongwith their parents. The show was appreciated by one and also present there. Later on an Inter School Dance Competition was also organized by the IRCS, Jammu Region wherein students of different Govt./Pvt. Schools such Fock Dance, Rajasthani Dance, Guajarati Dance, Kashmiri Dance, Punjabi Dance etc. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes won by BSF School, K.V. School and Lawerance School respectively, besides this, a Dog Show was arranged by IRCS, Jammu Region. On the eve of Lohri, a Lohri Festival was celebrated with great fervor and with religious gaiety.

Chief Guest of the closing ceremony Sh. Shantmanu, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu visited the various stalls and interacted with the stall holders and appreciated their efforts for making the Mela a success. Later on the students of Govt. College for Women, Parade presented a scintillating and a breath taking cultural show to the august gathering. During the two days Red Cross Mela various stalls of eatables, games shows and Joy Rides were the main highlights of the events. Thousand of people of Jammu visited the Mela supported by BSF, CRPF, J&K Police besides J&K Bank, Jamkash Vehicleades, Saraswati Plasto Tech. and Punjab National Bank were the sponsors of the Red Cross Mela.

December, 2014:
• Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu imparted one day First Aid Training Awareness Programme to the Students of Govt. College for Engineering and Technology, Chak Bhalwal, Jammu on 10-12-2014 by Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary . The First Aid Awareness Programme was organised under the Supervision of its Hony. Secretary, Sh. R.C. Puri. The Hony. Secretary also threw light on the activities being carried out by the Society during Natural Calamities/Man made disaster. He also awarded the gathering what Red Cross is, what it does and how it does.

• Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized a Medical/Eye Checkup/Blood Grouping Camp at Rashriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu on 12-12-2014 wherein 52 B.Ed Students were examined by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary who was assisted by Paramedical Staff of Red Cross Dispensary.

• Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu and Reliance Communication, Jammu organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 27-12-2014 in the premises of Reliance Communication in collaboration with Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu and J&K State AIDS Control Society, Jammu wherein more than 40 Volunteers of the Reliance Communication, Jammu donated their Blood.

Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu who was present on the occasion delivered a motivational lecture on the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation and impressed upon the gathering to donate Blood for Saving precious lives.

The Circle Head, Reliance Communication, Jammu appreciated the efforts made by Sh. Virinder Singh Salathia of Reliance Communication by organizing the Blood Donation Camp.

December,2014:
1.Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu and Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 3-12-2014 in the College premises in collaboration with HDFC Bank, Jammu and PG Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu wherein 17 Volunteers of the College donated their Blood.Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. While speaking on the occasion she lauded the gesture of the College Students who come forward and donated the Blood for Humanitarian Cause.A team of the Doctors from Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu headed by Dr. Nazia were the incharge of the event. 2.Red Cross and NSS Units of Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Region, Jammu, PG Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Govt. Medical College, Jammu and J&K State Aid Control Society, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp today at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu on the Eve of “WORLD AIDS DAY”.Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. While speaking on the occasion lauded the gesture of Red Cross Unit and NSS Unit of the College who come forward and donated the Blood for Humanitarian Cause.Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu who also threw light on the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation and appreciated the spirit of discipline, devotion, dedication and enthusiasm of the Red Cross and NSS Units of the College.More than 15 Units of Blood was donated by the students of the College. October,2014:
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organized on 1-10-2014 at GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with NSS Unit of the College. The Abhiyan was launched jointly by Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu and Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College alongwith Sh. Sita Ram Sharma, Dr. Renu Nanda, Smt. Navneet Kour, Members, IRCS, Region Jammu, wherein faculty members, Incharge NSS Unit, NSS Volunteers and other students participated to clean the college premises. The Principal and Hony. Secretary, Red Cross dwelt upon the importance of cleanliness to save human lives from different diseases besides giving good face look to the surroundings. They exhorted upon the College staff and students to ensure regular cleanliness of college premises and its surroundings and said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will be a regular activity in the College

Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu appreciated the initiative taken by IRCS regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Campaign and exhorted upon the gathering to ensure proper cleanliness to save human lives.
Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu alongwith Executive Committee Members celebrated Diwali festival with the inmates of flood victims putting up at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu on 23rd October, 2014 and distributed sweets, Biscuits, Snacks, candles .
The main purpose of celebrating Diwali festival with them was to show concern & solidarity with the flood victims at this juncture.
The Relief Camp has been put up by the District Administration since 5th September, 2014 and Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu is providing them meals free of cost.
The Small Children had made Rangoli besides presented a skit highlighting the need to avoid using of Crackers which affect the environment by creating pollution and urged to use candles /Diyas on this auspicious occasion instead of crackers.

On the occasion of celebration of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2014,the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with PG Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine Govt. Medical College, Jammu and Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu organized below mentioned events:-

On 23-09-2014, a quiz competition at Red Cross Auditorium was held on the “Theme Voluntary Blood Donation-A Need of the Hour”. The students of different Govt./Private Colleges participated in the quiz competition. The competition was organized to motivate the students to lend their helping hand in donating blood to save the precious lives and to increase general cooperation about voluntary blood donation. Mr. Dheeraj Mahajan from MAM College, Jammu bagged first position where as Mr. Ajay Vaid from MAM College & Miss Shafali Sharma from Govt. College for Women Parade, Jammu shared second position and Miss Minali Deep from Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar clinched Third position. Dr. Kamal Jeet Singh, Associate professor, Blood Bank, Govt. Medical College, Jammu and Shri R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu were also present on the occasion and also spoke on the topic.

On 27-09-2014, a symposium was also held at Red Cross Auditorium, Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The Students of Govt. as well as Private Colleges of Jammu participated in the said event.Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu Mr. R.C.Puri, inaugurated the symposium who also threw light on the importance of voluntary Blood Donation and urged upon the students to donate blood voluntarily for the humanitarian cause. Dr. Vijay Sawheny, HOD Blood Transfusion Deptt. Govt. Medical College, Jammu made a brief note on the importance of the blood donation. Dr. Kamal Jeet Singh, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Blood Transfusion Medicines,GMC,Jammu also spoke on the topic.The Students of the participated Colleges spoke on the Theme & selected by the Jury members adjudged Miss Minakshi, of Govt. College for Women Gandhinagar, Jammu First Prize winner ,Mr. Anchal Singh of Govt. MAM College won the 2nd Prize whereas Mr. Kamal Saini of GGM Science College, Jammu and Miss Aneet Kamal Kour of Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu shared 3rd Prize respectively.

Red Cross and NSS Units of Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu organized a voluntary blood donation camp in the college premises on 30-09- 2014 in which more than 61 units of blood was donated by the students of the college. Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College inaugurated the camp and lauded the gesture of Red Cross and NSS Units of the College to come forward and donated blood for humanitarian cause. Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu and Dr. Vijay Sawhney, HOD Blood Transfusion Deptt.GMC, Jammu also delivered lecture on the importance of the voluntary blood donation and asked the students fraternity to come forward for this noble cause by donating voluntary blood and also motivate others to organize such type of blood donation camps.

To provide succor to the flood affected people of Jammu Region, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized free Medical Check up /Relief Distribution Camps in Jammu Division in collaboration with Bee Enn Charitable Trust,Jammu, Hridya Deep Ashsram Jeevan Nagar and Vishav Hindu Parishad, Jammu as per details given below :-

1. On 13th September, 2014 about 223 patients were checked up by Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu at village Pargwal (Akhnoor). Free Medicines were also provided to the patients.

2. A team of IRCS, Region Jammu under the supervision of its Hony. Secretary, Shri R. C. Puri distributed relief items in shape of 100 Kitchen Sets,100 Towels and 100 Plastic Buckets with Mugs and eatable items to the flood affected people of Phalain Mandal on 15th September,2014 who took temporary shelter in tented accommodation provided by the Army at Sure Chak, Jammu.

3. The District Administration has set up a Migrant Camp for the flood affected people at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu wherein more than 100 people are being provided free meals(Break-fast, Lunch and Dinner) regularly on daily basis in addition to Biscuits and Milk to their kids since 5th September,2014 besides this free Medical Facility is also being provided to these flood victims by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu.

4. On 18th Sept., 2014 , a Medical Check up Camp was organized at village Majheen (Sidhra) Jammu wherein free Medical check u of 191 patients (flood victims) was done by the Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu besides 50 free tests of various ailments i.e Kft,Lft,Lipid Profile and Calcium were also conducted through a portable Test Lab. which is a unique one in Jammu and Kashmir State having a capacity of 29 parameters at a short time presented by M/s Khushi Rehabilitation& Research Centre Delhi. Free Medicines and eatable items were also provided to them.

5. On 20th Sept., 2014 about 272 patients were examined at village Sumb in Phalain Mandal Area by a team of Doctors namely Dr. Koushalya Sambyal fropm Bee Enn Charitable Trust, Jammu and Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu besides 30 free lab. tests of various ailments were also conducted through portable Test Lab. Free Medicines and eatable items were also provided to the flood affected people .

6. On 23rd September, 2014 about 143 patients were examined by Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu at village Saddal, Block Pancheri in District Udhampur besides this 42 tests of various ailments were also conducted through portable Test Lab. Free Medicines and eatable items were also distributed among the flood affected people.

7. On 25th September, 2014 relief items in shape of 200 blankets and eatable items were distributed to the flood victims at Ram Nagar (Udhampur)

August,2014:

4 August, 2014 :- Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu imparted four days First Aid Training Programme (professional) w.e.f. 04-08-2014 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance, Regional Centre, Jammu who is the sister organization of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu to the staff members of Sarveshwar Organic Foods, Jammu which was inaugurated by Mr. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu who while addressing the participants gave a detailed back ground of the Red Cross Movement and asked them to attend the said First Aid Training Course with zest & zeal so as to acquaint themselves properly to be able to extend the required help at the time of need. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary imparted the four days First Aid Training programme whereas Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary conducted the exam of the trainees.

19 August, 2014 :- Ati Maha Vishnu Yagya Samiti organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with India Red Cross Society, Region Jammu and Blood Transfusion Department GMC, Jammu on 18th August, 2014 at Balram Temple, Panjtirthi, Jammu. The Camp was inaugurated by Sh. Uttam Chand, IPS, SSP, Jammu and impressed upon the youth to come forward and donate Blood for Saving the precious Lives. The Camp was organized under the overall Supervision of Sri Balak Yogeshwar Ji Maharaj. About 29 Youths donated the Blood. Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu was also present on the occasion and appreciated the efforts made by Ati Maha Vishnu Yagya Samiti Jammu for organizing the Blood Donation Camp and hoped that such type of Camps would also be organized in future.

24 August, 2014 :- Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Bee Enn Charitable Trust Jammu and Hridyadeep Ashram, Jammu organized a Free Medical, Eye and Dental Checkup Camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Saruinsar Jammu on 23-08-2014 in which students of the school were checked up in different ailments. A team of Doctors headed by Dr. Kushalya Sambyal from Bee Enn Charitable Trust, Jammu which included Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Dr. Rohini Bhan from Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. Rakesh Raina, Dental Surgeon from Govt. Dental College, Jammu which were assisted by Sh. Anil Kumar, Sup Ophthalmic Asstt. and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist.
About 100 students were checked up in the said Camp and free medicines were also provided to the poor students. The Camp was organized under the Supervision of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu.

The Principal of the School appreciated the initiative taken by the Red Cross and hoped such camps would also be under taken in future.

July,2014:
1.Reliance Communication Ltd., Jammu and Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu jointly organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 11-07-2014 in collaboration with Department of Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, Jammu and J&K State Aids Prevention and Control Society, Jammu at the premises of Reliance Communication, Channi Rama, Jammu. About 19 Volunteers of Reliance Communication donated their blood voluntarily on the occasion. Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu Mr. R.C. Puri appreciated the spirit of discipline, devotion, dedication and enthusiasm of the employees of the Reliance Communication who come forward and donated their blood voluntary. An awareness/motivational lecture on Voluntary Blood Donation was delivered by Dr. Vijay Sawhney, HOD Blood Transfusion Department, GMC Jammu on the occasion and asked the participants to come forward and donate blood to save precious lives. The Circle Head Reliance Communication thanked the supporting Agencies for successful organization of Blood Donation Camp.

2.Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu organized a Free Medical/Eye Checkup Camp on 12th July, 2014 at Red Cross Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu where in General/Eye Patients were examined by Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary whereas Sh. Anil Kumar, Sup. Ophthalmic Asstt. and Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist assisted the Doctor. About 106 (64 General and 42 Eye) patients were examined. Free Medicines were also provided to the poor patients. The above said Camp was organized under the Supervision of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu.
3. 23 Wing, Air Force Station, Satwari, Jammu and Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu jointly organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 14th July, 2014 in collaboration with Department of Blood Transfusion Medicines, GMC, Jammu in which 75 Volunteers of Air Force Donated Blood Voluntarily in the presence of Group Captain, Senior Medical Officer, 23 Wing Air Force Jammu, Dr. Vijay Sawhney, HOD Blood Transfusion Deparmtent, GMC, Jammu and Sh. R.C Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu.
4.Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu imparted 4 days First Aid Training Programme (Professional) w.e.f. 21-07-2014 to 24-07-2014 at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu under the umbrella of St. John Ambulance, Regional Centre, Jammu who is the sister organization of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu to the staff members of Fortune Inn Riviera, Jammu which was inaugurated by Mr. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu who while addressing the participants gave a detailed back ground of the Red Cross Movement and asked them to attend the said First Aid Training Course with zest & zeal so as to acquaint themselves properly to be able to extend the required help at the time of need. Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary imparted the said training whereas Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary conducted the exam of the trainees.

5.Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw, 2014 in December
The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sh. Shantmanu, IAS (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu) chaired a meeting of newly nominated members of Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu on 21-07-2014 in his office chambers and emphasised upon them to make efforts for revival of JRC & YRC Unit in Govt. School and Universities and exhorted upon the Indian Red Cross Society to raise massive awareness among the people about its activities. He further said that dissemination of services of the World’s most Philanthropic organization is a Kay Component to ensure optimum benefits to the people about its activities who other wise are deprived of the same. The Chairman also reviewed the activities of the Society and its future endeavours and stressed upon the Society to streamline the working of this vital humanitarian unit. He further deliberated in breadth and length for the establishment of Red Cross Blood Bank, management, repair and renovation of Attendant Sarai, activation of District Red Cross Committee’s, streamlining and deployment of Regional and District Ambulance, Medical Units, Renovation of Office Complex of IRCS and issues pertaining to State Branch and ICRC. The Divisional Commissioner directed the RCS members to start preparations for Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw- 2014 which is tentatively scheduled to be held in the second week of December 2014.

June,2014:
1. Three days voluntary blood donation and Motivational-cum-Awareness drive was celebrated by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Department of Blood Transfusion Medicines, GMC Jammu and J&K State Aids Prevention and Control Society, Jammu w.e.f 10th to 12th June, 2014 at Jammu University to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Karl Landstiener founder of “ABO” Blood Group System on the eve of World Blood Donors Day. The drive was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. M.P. Singh Isher, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University on 10-06-2014 in presence of Guest of Honour Sh. Shantmanu, IAS, Divisional Commissioner (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region) Jammu. The Chief Guest emphasized upon the volunteers, who turned in large numbers, to lend their helping hand in donating blood voluntarily to save precious lives and also appreciated the initiatives taken jointly by Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu and Department of Blood Transfusion Medicines GMC and others and hoped that such like camps shall be organized on regular basis. Guest of the Honor in its address also appreciated the role being played by IRCS and Blood Bank and suggested to continue doing such yeoman services by organizing such camps. Hony. Secretary, IRCS Jammu Region Mr. R.C. Puri thanked all the dignitaries and participants by giving their valuable time and support for such noble causes. He emphasized the donors to donate blood, as without blood there can be no blood. He appealed voluntary blood donors, social workers and youths especially the student community to come forward and donate blood to save precious lives.

2.In continuation to this drive, IRCS Jammu Region in collaboration with Department of Blood Transfusion Medicines, GMC. Jammu organized a Symposium at Red Cross Auditorium Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu on 11-06-2014. Mrs Arunima Sinha, Secretary, IAS Officers Wives Welfare Association was the Chief Guest whereas Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary IRCS, Region Jammu was the Guest of Honour. Students from Govt. GGM Science College Jammu, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce Jammu, Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar and MIER College Jammu actively participated in the Symposium and spoken the necessity of Voluntary Blood Donation. Dr. Meena Sidhu, Incharge, Blood Bank SMGS Hospital and Dr. Kamaljeet Singh (Retd.) being the Jury Members at the Symposium adjudged Mr. Rajat Puri from Criest School Poonch and Miss Simranjeet Kour from GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu as First and 2nd respectively whereas Suyash Raj Shivam from Doon School and Sudershan Singh from Govt. GGM Science College Jammu shared 3rd position in the Symposium.

Mrs. Anrunima Sinha, while speaking on the occasion appealed the student community to donate blood voluntarily to save the precious lives and also to strengthen Red Cross Society by their active participation. Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu in his welcome address appealed Blood Bank should to organize such like motivational Symposium on blood donation at Hr. Sec. School levels to inspire the students to donate blood from the age group of 18 years to save precious lives.

3. On 14-06-2014, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in collaboration with Amar Ujala Foundations and Blood Transfusion Department GMC, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Red Cross Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu in which 29 volunteers/officers-officials of Amar Ujala Foundations Jammu donate blood. The Blood Donation Camp was jointly inaugurated by Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu and Sh. Anil Kumar Minhas, Unit Head, Amar Ujala Foundations, Jammu.

January,2014:
1. On 4th Jan. 2014 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized a Farewell function under the Chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, (Chairman, Regional Red Cross Society) Jammu Sh. Shantmanu, IAS at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu in honour of outgoing Secretary Sh. Anil K. Padha who rendered his valueable services to the Red Cross nearly 6 years. On 21st Jan. 2014 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with Bee Enn Charitable Hospital and Hridyadeep Ashram, Jammu organized a Free Medical Checkup Camp at Lowest Rattnu Chak, Jammu on 18-1-2014 under the supervision of Sh. R.C. Puri, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. The team of Doctors headed by Dr. Kaushalya Sambyal from Bee Enn Charitable Hospital, Jammu which included Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Office from Red Cross Dispensary, Sh. Anil Kumar, Sup. Ophthalmic Asstt. and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist. Nearly 143 (120 General & 43 Eye) patients were checked up and provided free medicines to the needy patients.

Prominent among those who attended the Camp included Swami Hridya Nand Giri Ji, Sh. R.C. Khajuria Social Worker and Sh. Yasghpal Singh Sarpanch.
3. On 23rd Jan. 2014 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu It was part of the efforts of Society to provide proper Health and Medical facilities to the needy people, particularly slum-areas of Mishriwala, Purkhoo and Domana, Jammu on 23-1-2014 wherein 62 patients were checked up by Dr. Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary besides MCH & Immunization doses were also provided to the Women and Children of the above said area by Smt. Tripta Devi, LHV, Smt. Sangeets Devi, FMPHW and Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacist. Free Medicines were provided to the poor/needy patients.

September,2013:
On 2nd Sept. 2013 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized orthopedic Medical Checkup Camp at Ground Floor Veranda of Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu wherein more than 100 ortho patients were examined by Dr. Rakesh Sharma, MS Consultant Govt. Hospital, Sarwal, Jammu who was assisted by three physiotherapists of Jammu College of Physiotherapy Nardani-Raipar, Jammu.

On 14th Sept., 2013 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu participated in the Gala Event organized by Mahavir Society for Education and Research (Regd.) Jammu at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu by holding a stall where Literature regarding Red Cross was distributed among the general masses. This programme was inaugurated by Jenab Gulam Nabi Azad, Hon’ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and the organizers presented one Tricycle and one Wheelchair to the two needy patients recommend by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu.

August,2013:
On the eve of celebration of Independence Day on 15th August, 2013 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu hosted National Flag in the Red Cross premises in presence of Hony. Secretary, Sh. Anil K. Padha.

July, 2013:
1. On 2-07-2013 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the directions of its Hony. Secretary Sh. Anil K. Padha organized a Diabetes Awareness Programme and detection camp at Ground Floor Verendah of Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu in which Dr. Jitendera Singh renowned Diabetologist and National Professor of Diabetes examined over 125 patients out of which 25 new cases of diabetes were detected. A team of Red Cross under the supervision of Dr. Kavita Nijohn assisted the camp. Dr. Jitendera Singh said that changing of life style and junk food culture have taken its toll and inspite of new modalities of treatment available, the disease has assumed epidemic proportion. The camp was supported by M/S Intas Pharma Diabetic & Hypertension Division who distributed free medicines to the patients.

2. On 8-07-2013 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized orthopedic Medical Checkup Camp at Red Cross Bhawan, Ground Floor Verendah of Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu wherein more than 100 Ortho patients were examined by Dr. Rakesh Sharma, MS Ortho Consultant, Govt. Medical College, Jammu who was assisted by four Physiotherapists from Jammu College of Physiotherapy, Nardani-Raipar, Jammu.

One Day National Seminar on Voluntary Blood Donation was organized by ISBTI J&K Chapter in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society Jammu and Young Blood Association on 10th July 2013 at Maha Bodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh. Ladakh. Director MIMC Rev. Sanghasena, who chaired the seminar, said that helping others is a morality and blood donation is the best way to do it without any discrimination of caste, creed and race, which in turn will spread peace and harmony. The Chairman ISBTI J&K Chapter, Sh. Anil K. Padha was the main speaker who while addressing the seminar said that donating blood is an opportunity and an individual between the age 18 years to 65 years can donate blood 188 times in a life time and save so many precious human lives, he added. Sh. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, ISBTI, gave a power point presentation highlighting the objectives of ISBTI and stressed upon the people to become blood donor. The CMO Leh., Dr. Yangchan Dolma gave a detailed report about requirement of blood, blood transfusion facility, status of blood bank, etc. in Leh. district. Besides Dr. P. Tsering, Medical Superintendent Distt. Hospital Leh. also addressed the gathering. Later, a video C.D. on blood donation produced by ISBTI in collaboration with young Blood Association was also shown to the audience. The seminar was attended by the doctors of SNM Hospital Leh, Heads of religious and social organizations, students of Govt. Degree College, Leh. and staff of MIMC Leh.
Duggar Vichar Manch, Jammu in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized Vijay Diwas function to pay tribute to the Kargil Martyrs on 26-07-2013 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu which was graced by Lt. Gen. L.C. Gandotra (Retd.), Maj. Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd.), Major Gen. R.S. Jamwal, Jammu and graced by the Family Members of the Kargil Martyrs who were honoured on the occasion in presence of Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and other prominent member of Civil Society and Heads of various Social and Educational Institutions.

June, 2013:
World Blood Donor Day was marked on 15-06-2012 at Red Cross Bhawan Jammu in collaboration with Govt. Medical College Blood Bank, Jammu supported by J&K Aids Prevention & Control Society & ISBTI J&K Chapter to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Karl Landsteiner the founder of “ABO” Blood Grouping System and Noble Prize winner at Red Cross Auditorium, Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu. Dr. Shashi Gupta, Principal, Govt. Medical College, Jammu was the “Chief Guest” who appealed the youth to come forward and join hands with the Red Cross to strengthen the movement voluntary Blood Donation and ensure the availability of Blood in the Blood Bank. He also stressed the need to keep the Distt. Blood Banks well equipped. Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu who is also the Chairman of ISBTI J&K Chapter presided over the function and addressed the gathering and suggested that Blood Bank should organize Motivational Programmes at the Hr. Sec. School Level so as the youth can come forward to donate blood at the age of 18 till the age of 65 years. S. Ajit Singh, Zonal Head Sant Nirankari Mission Jammu who was the Guest of Honour also spoke on the occasion besides Dr. T. R. Raina, Former HOD Blood Transfusion Department, Govt. Medical College, Jammu explained the Technologies of Blood Transfusion. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Meena Sidhu, Incharge Blood Bank SMGS Hospital, Jammu where as the stage was conducted by Mr. Lalit Sharma camp coordinator Young Blood Association, Jammu. Later the Awards were presented to the Blood Donors and organizations who had contributed to the cause of Voluntary Blood Donation in Jammu.

2. In order to provide proper health and medical facilities to the people at their door steps especially in the far flung areas of the Jammu Regional, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the supervision of its Hony. Secretary, Sh. Anil K. Padha organized a Free Medical Checkup camp at Village Baba Ka Talab, Akhnoor Road, Jammu in collaboration with “Parivartan NGO”, Jammu on 16-06-2013. A team of Doctors assisted the camp in which 150 patients were checked up and given free medicines to the patients.

May, 2013:
1. World Red Cross Day 2013 witnessed a colourful function at Red Cross Auditorium Kachi Chawni, Jammu organised by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of its founder “Sir Henry Dunant” where Sh. Pradeep Gupta, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest and function was presided over by Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director, Health Service, Jammu whereas Sh. Y. V. Sharma, President Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu was Special Guest of Honour. The theme of the year is “150 Years of Humanitarian Service” and incidentally Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu marks its Golden Jubilee Year. The inaugural Patriotic songs were presented by the students of Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School besides which was applauded by a Jam Pack gathering at Red Cross Bhawan and Red Cross prayer was followed by National Anthem. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu lauded the humanitarian services being rendered by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and stressed the need to enroll more and more Red Cross Volunteers to ensure timely help at the time of need to the suffering humanity during natural calamities/man made disasters. Earlier the Welcome address was given by the Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Sh. Anil K. Padha who gave a brief detail of the Red Cross working in Jammu Region and the projects under taken by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and appealed the youth to take up their responsibilities in building a strong Nation and Volunteer themselves for noble causes. Prominent among those who participated in the function included Sh. Annil Suri, Mrs. Navneet Kour, Sh. Ajit Singh, Zonal Incharge Sant Nirankari Mandal, Sh. O.P. Bakshi and Ms. Simone Aeschlimann, Team Leader, ICRC, Jammu. The stage programme was conducted by Mrs. Navneet Kour and vote of thanks was presented by Sh. 2. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the Directions of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sh. Pradeep Gupta, IAS issued relief material to the fire victims of 27 Jhugies burnt on 12-05-2013 at Bharat Nagar, Bantalab, Jammu under the Supervision of Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary. The Relief Material included 60 Blankets, 30 Kitchen sets, 30 Folding Mattresses and Assorted Clothes which were handed over to Asstt. Commissioner Revenue with the Assistance of Divisional Warden Civil Defence Sh. Jia Lal Sharma.

3. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the Supervision of its Hony. Secretary, Sh. Anil K. Padha in collaboration with Hari Prabhu Sanstha organized a Free Medical/ Aid camp at Hari Prabhu Ashram Gujroo Nagrota Billawar Distt. Kathua on 25-05-2013 with the close cooperation of BEE ENN Charitable Trust, Rotary Club Udhampur and Hridyadeep Ashram Jammu with a team of doctors including Dr. Koushalya Samyal Gynecologist, Dr. S.P. Gupta Ophthalmologist besides Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Dr. Rupinder Kour Dental, two interners from GMC, Sh. Kuldeep Bhat, Ophthalmic Tech. and Sh. Sohan Lal , Pharmacist from Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu assisted the Camp in which over 350 patients were examined and given free medicines to the patients jointly contributed by BEE ENN Charitable Trust and Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. The President Sh. Jagmohan Gupta and General Secretary Sh. S.C. Gupta coordinated the camp and hailed the efforts put in by Red Cross for supporting the Social organizations besides distributing Relief Material to the affected people from time to time. Prominent among who attended the camp included Sh. I.D. Soni, Patron, Prof. Satpal Shrivatva Advisor of Hari Prabhu Sanstha, Swami Ji Hridyadeep Ashram, Sh. R.C. Khajuria Hony. Director Young Blood Association, Col. D. K. Nanda, President Shanti Path Truest.

April, 2013:
1. To mark the World Health Day Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the Supervision of its Hony. Secretary, Sh. Anil K. Padha organized a Free Eye Check Up camp at Village Majuya Block Bishnah. The Camp was held at Govt. High School, Majuya with the close cooperation of the Office of the Director, Health Services, Jammu who had deputed Dr. M. P. Singh Ophthalmologist besides two Ophthalmic Technicians namely Sh. Anil Kumar Sharma and Sh. Kuldeep Bhat from Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu assisted the Camp in which 110 patients were examined out of which 12 cataract cases were detected and 18 cases were found eligible for providing spectacles which included school going children and aged women. Sh. R.C. Khajuria, Hony. Director. Young Blood Association coordinated the camp along with Sh. Suraj Parkash, Sarpanch of the area who later on brought the patients for operation at Govt. Medical College, Jammu under the supervision of Dr. Dinesh Gupta, HOD Ophthalmology. The patients were picked up and dropped back to their village in Red Cross Ambulance.

2. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu launched 8 days First Aid Training programme on 15-04-2013 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu to Army Jawans of 4th Bn of Bihar Regiment which was inaugurated by the Hony. Secretary, Sh. Anil K. Padha who while addressing the participants gave a detailed background of the Red Cross Movement and asked them to attend the said First Aid Training Course with full Zeal and Zest so as to acquaint themselves properly to be able to extend the required help at the time of need. Mr. Padha also disclosed that this training to the Army Jawans being conducted to extend First Aid Facility to the Pilgrims of Shri Amar Nath Yatries for the current year. The Commanding Officer of 4th Bn of Bihar Regiment Col. R.P. Singh who has been given this task by the Govt. and assisted by Capt. Arun Jeet Singh took keen interest in finalization of this training under the St. John Ambulance Association Jammu Regional Chapter which is located at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu and is the joint venture of Indian Red Cross Society. This 8 days training programme was held in close co-operation with Director, Health Services Jammu who had deputed one Doctor for the said training.

March, 2013:
1. A felicitation function was organized on 14-03-2013 at Raj Bhawan, Jammu to honour the sponsors and supporters of Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw, 2012 where Hon’ble Governor, J&K State (President, J&K Red Cross Society) presented the Awards to Red Cross Sponsors and Supporters for their valuable support extended by them during the Red Cross Mela and Raffle Draw organized by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in the month of Dec., 2012 at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The Hon’ble Governor, while addressing the participants called upon the corporate and business houses to contribute generously for enlarging the resource base to boost Red Cross Activities in Jammu & Kashmir. The Hon’ble Governor observed that the collections raised by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was significantly higher than the past years. He added that we have a very large base of industry, commerce and business sector here which can be approached to make much larger contribution. Sh. Pradeep Gupta, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is the Chairman, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu gave a brief report of the Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw in his Welcome address and disclosed that Rs. 22.00 Lakh were collected from Raffle Draw and other events organized as part of the Red Cross Mela. Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu presented vote of thanks and conducted the proceedings of the function. The dignitaries were presented tea and refreshment by Raj Bhawan, Jammu.

A tribute to Great Martyrs of India on Trimurti Balidan Divas was organized at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu on 23-03-2013 in collaboration with Young Blood Association and Indian Culture Forum which was graced by Mrs. Roma Wani, Hony. General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State Branch and presided over by Sh. I.D. Soni, State Commissioner, J&K Scouts and Guides who also read the key note address while remembering Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev and Raj Guru. The programme was a blend of poetry, lecture and musical items. Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu who is the Chairman of Young Blood Association in his welcome address emphasized that such kind of the programme give opportunity to young generation to know the sacrifices made by the great Martyrs. . Sh. Sham Sajan, President, Indian Culture Forum delivered vote of thanks. Prominent among those who participated in the above said programme included S. 3. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with Collipe College of Education Doomi (Akhnoor) on 29-03-2013 organized a free health checkup camp in Akhnoor. The Doctors examined more than 250 patients suffering from different aliments and provided them Free Medicines. The medical camp was inaugurated by Sh. Sham Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control. Prominent among those present included Hony. General Secretary, IRCS, J&K State Branch Mrs. Roma Wani, Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society Jammu, Mr. Anil K. Padha, Superintending Engineer (Hydraulic) Jammu Sh. Sushil Aima, Addl. b) Sh. Anil K. Padha visited the Blood Donation Camp at Dyala Chak and delivered a lecture regarding the activities of Red Cross and benefits of voluntary donation of Blood to the gathering of Sant Nirankari Mandal, Dayalchak on dated 10-02-2013.

c) The Red Cross cell of Govt. College of Education, Jammu organized a motivating lecture on dated 11-2-2013 on the role and importance of Indian Red Cross Society. The Chief Resource persons were Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and Dr. T.R. Raina, Former HOD, Blood Bank, GMC, Jammu. Sh. Anil K. Padha dwelt upon the dire need of rendering selfless service for the welfare of the society and called upon the youth to follow the path of true virtues so that sorrows and pains of the needed can be mitigated. Dr. T.R. Raina very vividly described the composition and uses of Blood in the human anatomy, laying emphasis upon the need and importance of Blood Donation. Principal, of the Colleges, Prof. Kaushal Samotra presided over the function. Convener of College Red Cross Cell, Prof. Sindhu Kapoor conducted the proceedings and presented the welcome address where as Dean Students Welfare Prof. Anju presented vote of thanks.

d) Sh. Sham Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control was the Chief Guest in the annual function of Eurocare School where Sh. Anil K. Padha was the Guest of Honour who delivered a Key note address regarding the working of Red Cross and virtues of being a volunteer on 12-02-2013 for the information of young parents who had gathered at Police Auditorium Jammu.

Jan.,2013:
a) Lohri Festivals was celebrated on 11th Jan., 2013 at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu by Big 92.7 FM to highlight the importance of girl child in which Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was invited to deliver a lecture. A contribution of Rs. 51,000/- collected by Big 92.7 FM was donated to Hemophilia Society, of J&K Chapter on the occasion.

b) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu celebrated Republic Day on 26-01-2013 in collaboration with Young Blood Association and Indian Culture Forum at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu where a cultural programme was presented besides Dogri Poems were recited by well known Poets and Artists which included Sh. Sham Sajan, Sh. Suraj Singh, Sh. Prithvi Raj, Sh. Randhir Singh and other young artists. Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was the Chief Guest and hoisted a National Flag whereas Sh. Ravi Dev Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, Kashmir Steel Rolling Mills, Jammu was the Guest of Honour and sponsored the programme. Other prominent persons who attended included Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu. Dr. T. R. Raina, Secretary General ISBTI National Body, Sh. H.N. Ticku, President J&K confederation of Voluntary Organizations and other Professors of various Colleges, Doctors and Head of Social organizations. Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu distributed blankets to the Widows from R.S. Pura recommended by the Sarpanch of that Area.

December 2012:
1. Red Cross Unit of Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu organized One Day Red Cross Mela in the College premises on Thursday 6th of December, 2012. On the occasion Hon’ble Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, J&K Govt., Mr. Sham Lal Sharma was the chief Guest whereas Mr. Taranjeet Singh Tony, District President, National Conference and Mr. A.K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Red Cross Society, Jammu were the special Guests. The programme began by lighting the traditional lamp and by releasing the balloons as a mark of liberating the souls from the pain and agony to life and happiness by the Chief Guest and dignitaries followed by welcome address by Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College. Dr. Kiran Bakshi in her address called the Mela as a part of Social responsibility and a path of selfless service of our students for serving mankind. She also thanked representatives of different business units, students of different educational institutions, Floriculture Department, Automobile Industries and sponsors of various units who had voluntarily come forward for the exhibition of different stalls with great enthusiasm and spirit. Hon’ble Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma in his address stressed upon the need of value education and considering girl child as an asset for the nation congratulated the Principal for taking an initiative to organize Red Cross Mela for the aim of raising funds for helping the suffering humanity. He also urged the youngsters to come forward to donate generously for the district Red Cross Society to enable it to serve humanity at the time of the distress. Special Guest, Mr. T.S. Tony also shared his thoughts and eulogized the efforts of the students for their selfless services and their contribution for blood donation which would save the lives of thousand and millions of people struggling for elixir of life. Our Hon’ble Chief Guest, Special Guests, principal, Guests, Staff, Members of civil society and students of various Degree Colleges visited all the stalls and appreciated the dedication and spirit of the students social service for the noble cause. Dr. Sudhanshu Sharma thanked one and all for their participation in making this event a big success and the proceeding of the programme were conducted by Mr.Anam, Ms.Swati and Ms.Chahat.

2. The Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized two days Mela-cum-Raffle Draw at Kala Kendra, Jammu on 15th & 16th Dec., 2012 which was inaugurated by Sh. Sham Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture along with Sh. Pradeep Gupta, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu besides various Department Heads, NGO Heads & Prominent Citizens were present. Students of Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu presented a colourful cultural program at the opening ceremony which included Saraswati Vandana presented by Heritage Public School, Jammu during the Inter School Dance Competition was held in which 10 schools participated and the items presented included Dogri, Kashmiri, Ladkhi & Punjabi Dance which was graced by the Joint Director, Information Department and Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. The First prize was bagged by Kendra Vidyala, Sunjwan, Jammu adjusted by a Jury of three prominent Artist which includes Smt. Kelash Mahra, Sh. Sham Sajan and Sh. Prithvi Raj. In the evening at Sham –e Ghazal, Sh. Khalid Bashir, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu was the Chief Guest and Director Door Darshan presided over the function and witnessed the performance of the artists of Indian Cultural Forum, Jammu. On 16th Dec., 2012 Mrs. Madhu Khullar, Direcotr Health Services, Jammu was the Chief Guest in the Baby Show and the Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu presided over the function which was organized by Mrs. Navneet Kour, Chairperson (Support) NGO. Children between the age of two to eoght years participated along with their parents and was appreciated by a Jam Pak gathering followed by open Song Competition of 92.7 Big FM where in Sh. Dilbag Singh, IPS, IGP, Jammu Zone was the Chief Guest and the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu distributed the prizes to the winners. In the closing ceremony Sh. R.S. Chib, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education, Tech. Education and YSS was the Chief Guest. The students of Govt. Women College, Parade, Jammu presented cultural items and local artists also presented Dogri Songs which was followed by Raffle Draw announcement in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister and the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu during the two days Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw various stalls of eatables, game shows and Joy Rodes were the main highlights of the events. Thousands of people of Jammu visited the Mela supported by BSF, CRPF, JK Police besides JK Bank was the main sponsorer followed by Saraswati Plasto Tech., Jammu Vehicleades. The total collection crossed the mark of 20 lacs which is the Higher record achieved by Red Cross since its inception.

October 2012:

1. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with ISBTI J&K Chapter organised a free Blood Grouping Camp at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu on 1st Oct., 2012. Dr. T.R. Raina, Secretary General ISBTI National Body was the Chief Guest whereas Mr. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, RRCS, Jammu presided over the function and Miss Sureshta Khajuria, Life President YBA, Jammu was the Guest of Honour. 110 free Blood Groupings were conducted under the supervision of Mr. Surinder Vermani, Super Lab. Tech. and Blood Grouping Cards were also issued on the spot. Nearly 25 volunteers from different walks of society registered themselves for Voluntary Blood Donation.

2. District Red Cross Committee, Rajouri in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, District Health Society, Rajouri and GDC, Thana Mandi (Rajouri) celebrated National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on Ist Oct., 2012 at GDC, Thana Mandi premises. Dr. M.B. Margay was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the function. He also highlighted the importance of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day before the students and the faculty to donate blood and save precious human lives. Dr. Mehmod, BMO, Darhal also gave power point presentation on blood safety and promotion on Voluntary blood donation. Mass officer and Executive Secretary, Distt. Red Cross Committee, Rajouri. Sh. Mohd. Sadiq Khan highlight the needs of blood donation and requested the students of the college to be ready for any eventuality to donate blood for human lives. 17 students of the college donated blood. Blood Grouping was also done and more than 500 students participated in the awareness programme.

3. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with Sant Nirankari Mission organised a Vol. Blood donation Camp at their Satsang Bhawan, Kathua on 14-10-2012. Mr. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary RRCS, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion and inaugurated the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp whereas Sh. Ajit Singh, Zonal 1/c SNM presided over the function. Nearly 145 devotees of the SNM donated blood voluntarily District Red Cross Society, Kathua provided refreshment @ Rs. 25/- per donor through its volunteers headed by Mr. Ashish Singh, Executive Secretary, District Red Cross Society, Kathua.

4. On 15-10-2012 a meeting to organize Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw 2012 was convened under the Chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner (Chairman, RRCS), Jammu wherein concerned Agencies/NGOs were invited to make necessary arrangements for Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw scheduled on 15th and 16th Dec., 2012.

5. Ist Aid Training program was launched on 17th Oct., 2012 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu which was inaugurated by Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu who while addressing the participants/staff of Govt. Gandhi Nagar, Hospital gave a detail back ground of the Red Cross Movement and asked them to attend the Ist Aid Training with full attention so as to help the victims/patients at the time of need.

September 2012:

A special Lecture on First Aid was delivered to the Scouts and Guides on 22 & 23 Sept., 2012 at J&K Scouts and Guides Office, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu on the request of Sh. I.D. Soni, State Commissioner by Red Cross Sr. Instructor Sh. J.K. Raina. Dissemination programme on Red Cross was presented by the Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, Sh. Anil K. Padha who was the Guest of Honour at the valedictory function of the said camp.

8 August 2012:

1. Introduction of Daily Meals (lunch and dinner) at Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu.

To facilitate the Attendants of the patients staying in the Attendant Sarai at Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu introduced daily meal (Lunch & Dinner) i.e. Dal, Rice and Achar @ Rs. 10/- per plate on 7-08-2012 at a simple Ceremony held at the Attendant Sarai. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sh. Pradeep Gupta was the CHIEF GUEST on the occasion who shared his views with the present dignitaries for introducing two times meal at economic rate to attract the attendants of the patients from Govt. Hospitals to come and stay at the Attendant Sarai. He furtherannounced a decline in the tariff of stay at Sarai from Rs. 60/- per day to Rs. 50/- perperson, per bed with immediate effect. Mr. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu informed the Management Committee that at present 15 to 20 Attendants per day are coming and staying in the Attendant Sarai and now a proper kitchen has been put into place with a small dining room where ten attendants can take meal at a time and the required utensils etc. have been acquired whereas the Principal, Govt. Medical College and Administrator Associated Hospitals Govt. Medical College, Jammu who were also present in the meeting assured that efforts are being made for getting the Hospitals veranda vacated from the attendants of the patients for sending them to the Attendant Sarai. The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion included Mr. Y.V. Sharma, President Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Anees Choudhary, Acting Principal Govt. Medical College Jammu, Mrs. Reva Gupta, Administrator, Associated Hospitals Jammu, Mr. Annil Suri, President, BBIA Jammu, Sh. Yash Paul Gupta, President ACTF Jammu, Sh. I.D. Soni, State Commissioner J&K Scouts & Guides, Miss Sureshta Khajuria & Mrs. Navneet Kour, Members of Executive Committee of Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu.

2. Distribution of Wheel Chairs/Sewing Machine:-

Four Wheel Chairs and one sewing machine were distributed among the needy persons in a simple ceremony held at Attendant Sarai in the presence of Divisional Commission, Jammu Sh. Pradeep Gupta and Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society. The other well-wishers of Red Cross who were present on the occasion included Col. D.K. Nanda, Sh. Rattan Lal Mahajan of Shanti Path Trust, Sh. S.C. Gupta of Hari Prabhu Sanstha and Mrs. Kanchan Sharma Hony. Director, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu.

3.A special lecture on First Aid was delivered to the Teachers and Volunteers on 7-7-2012 at J&K Scouts and Guides Office Gandhi Nagar, Jammu by a team of Red Cross Doctors in the presence of Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and Sh. I. D. Soni, State Commissioner Scouts and Guides. The lecture was delivered by an experienced Instructor Sh. J. K. Raina.

7. July 2012
Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Mr. Anil K. Padha visited District Doda with effect from 6th July, 2012 to 9th 2012. Govt. Degree College, Bhaderwah organized a Dissemination programme where the Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu motivated the youth to volunteer themselves for Red Cross services to mitigate the sufferings of the people in distress and gave brief history of Red Cross to the students gathered on the occasion. Prof. Bashrat Iqbal, Officiating Principal & Prof. Javed Zargar also spoke on the occasion and asked the students to strengthen the Red Cross unit of the college and the printed Brochures were also distributed to the students.

6. June 2012
(a)Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu celebrated World Blood Donor Day in collaboration with Govt. Medical College, Jammu, ISBTI J&K Chapter and Young Blood Association on 14-06-2012 in which different NGOs were presented awards on account of their contribution in the field of Blood Donation. A video song on Blood Donation was presented on the occasion produced by Young Blood Association to motivate the Volunteers for Blood Donation. Sh. R.S. Chib, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education and Youth Services and sports was the Chief Guest and Sh. Dilbag Singh, IPS, IGP, Jammu Zone, presided over the function. A Blood Donation Camp was also organised on the occasion in which 25 Jawans of JKP donated blood in the blood bank at Govt. Medical College, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary also attended the function along with Sh. Ravi K Gupta, Ms. Sureshta Khajuria, Mrs. Navneet Kour, Mrs. Kanchan Sharma and Sh. O. P. Sharma members of the Executive Committee Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu.
(b) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with Hindustan Coca Cola Brewages Pvt. Ltd. organised a Blood Donation Camp at their factory at Gangyal, Jammu on the initiative of Mrs. Navneet Kour, Hony. Director, Young Blood Association in which 27 employees donated blood. Mr. Anil K.Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion and appreciated the volunteers for their donation of blood to the Mankind. The Factory Manager, Mr. V. Ravi besides Mr. S. Sarabjit Singh, H R Manager and Mr. Sandeep Gupta also donated the blood and motivated their team to come forward for the donation of the blood. The mobile van of J&K State Aid Control Society was pressed into service under the supervision of Dr. Rahul from Blood Bank, Govt, Medical College, Jammu along with other technicians. The Camp was closely supported by Young Blood Association, Jammu and other prominent persons present in the camp included Mr. S. Bhupinder Singh, Deputy Director JKSACS, Mr. Ravi K. Gupta, President Young Blood Association, Mr. Veenuj Upadhyay, Secretary Young Blood Association and S. Karan Deep Singh.
(c) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the supervision of Mr. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary organised two different Camps one at Channi Himmat, Jammu where the Blood Grouping was conducted and nearly 70 persons were examined and issued Blood Grouping Cards in close co-ordination with Young Blood Association, the other free Medical Aid Camp was organised at Ramdarbar Mandir, Shastri Nagar, Jammu where Swami Hridyadeep Anand was the Chief Guest and a team of Doctors headed by Dr. Koushalya Sambyal examined the patients. Free Medicines were issued to nearly 200 patients with the active support of BEE ENN Charitable Trust under the able Guidance of Mr. Kunil Bhalla, Managing Trustee.

5. May 2012
(a) World Red Cross Day 2012 witnessed a colourful function at Red Cross Auditorium Kachi Chawni, Jammu organised by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of its founder “Sir Henry Dunant” where Sh. Pradeep Gupta, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest and function was presided over by Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director, Health Services, Jammu. The theme of this year is “YOUTH ON THE MOVE” .The program started with the flag hoisting of Red Cross at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sh. Pradeep Gupta, IAS along with Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director, Health Services, Jammu in the presence of Executive Committee Members, Red Cross Volunteers, students of educational institutions of different schools which was followed by lighting of ceremonial lamp to pay homage to founder of Red Cross Movement “Sir Henry Dunant”. The inaugural Patriotic songs were presented by the students of Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School besides a skit on the Life of Henry Dunant was presented by Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Satwari which was applauded by a Jam Pack gathering at Red Cross Bhawan. Red Cross prayer was followed by National Anthem played by the students of Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School, Future Pack Hr. School, Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Satwari & Shangarsh Vidya Kendra. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu lauded the humanitarian services being rendered by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and stressed the need to enroll more and more Red Cross Volunteers to ensure timely help at the time of need to the suffering humanity during natural calamities/man made disasters, adding further Divisional Commissioner also gave the brief of new projects under taken by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu which includes Artificial Limb Centre, Free Red Cross Dispensary & Diagnostic Centre, Family Welfare Centre, Eye Checkup Centre and Attendant Sarai at Mahesh Pura Chowk, Jammu where facilities of accommodation are being provided to the attendant of the patients admitted in Hospital GMC, Jammu. Dr. Madhu Kullar, Director Health Services, Jammu also spoke on occasion and appreciated the activities rendered by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu to mitigate the problems of down trodden person and assured full assistance at any given point of time Earlier the Welcome address was given by the Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Sh. Anil K. Padha who gave a brief detail of the Red Cross working in Jammu Region and appealed the youth to take up their responsibilities in building a strong Nation and Volunteer themselves for such noble causes. Later awards were presented to Volunteers, Sponsors, Institutions and NGOs who have extended whole hearted support to Regional Red Cross during the last year. (b) As part of its regular drive regarding Health and Hygiene of the under privileged people two different camps, one at Slums of Maratha Colony Near Railway Station, Jammu in which 108 School going Slum children were examined and administered medicines under the supervision of Dr. Kavita Nijohn, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary and the camp was co-ordinated by Mrs. Kanchan Sharma, Vice President Young Blood Association, who is managing the slum school under the name and style of Sangharash Vidya Kender for the last over 5 years. The other such camp was held at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu in which total 214 patients were examined, where free Eye check up, Blood Pressure check up and Blood Grouping was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Surinder Vermani, Sup. Lab. Tech, Mrs. Monika Sharma, Sr. Lab. Tech., Sh. Sohan Lal, Pharmacists and Sh. Anil Kumar, Ophthalmic Asstt. Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
(c) RegionalRed Cross Society, Jammu convened a meeting of Red Cross Attendant Sarai on 24-05-2012 in the office chamber of the Divisional Commissioner, (Chairman, Regional Red Cross Society), Jammu under the Chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and discussed the functioning of Attendant Sarai in which it was decided to speed up the functioning of the Sarai and to facilitate the attendants by providing lunch and dinner (Dal & Rice) @ Rs. 10/- per plate by procuring BPL Ration from CAPD. The Chairman asked the members of the Management Committee to extend full support for making the Attendants Sarai fully functional.

The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu lauded the humanitarian services being rendered by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and stressed the need to enroll more and more Red Cross Volunteers to ensure timely help at the time of need to the suffering humanity during natural calamities/man made disasters, adding further Divisional Commissioner also gave the brief of new projects under taken by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu which includes Artificial Limb Centre, Free Red Cross Dispensary & Diagnostic Centre, Family Welfare Centre, Eye Checkup Centre and Attendant Sarai at Mahesh Pura Chowk, Jammu where facilities of accommodation are being provided to the attendant of the patients admitted in Hospital GMC, Jammu.

Dr. Madhu Kullar, Director Health Services, Jammu also spoke on occasion and appreciated the activities rendered by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu to mitigate the problems of down trodden person and assured full assistance at any given point of time.
Earlier the Welcome address was given by the Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Sh. Anil K. Padha who gave a brief detail of the Red Cross working in Jammu Region and appealed the youth to take up their responsibilities in building a strong Nation and Volunteer themselves for noble causes. Later awards were presented to Volunteers, Sponsors, Institutions and NGOs who have extended whole hearted support to Regional Red Cross during the last year. (a) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with BEE ENN Charitable Trust and Hridyadeep Ashram, Jammu organized a Medical Aid Check up Camp at Lower Ratnuchak, Jammu on 7-04-2012 to mark the World Health Day in which nearly 500 Patients were examined by a team of Doctors of BEE ENN General Hospital and Red Cross Dispensary under the able Supervision of Dr. Kaushalya Sambyal. Free medicines worth Rs. 22,000/- were provided to the poor patients jointly contributed by Bee Enn Charitable Trust under the direction of Sh. Kunil Bhalla, Managing Trustee, Hridyadeep Ashram and Red Cross Society. Sh. Yash Pal Kundal, Hon’ble MLA, Samba was the Chief Guest and Sh. Anil K. Padha Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu presided over the function whereas Swami Hridya Nand Giri Ji was Guest of Honour, who blessed the gathering and appreciated the team work shown by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in organising Medical Aid Camps. Prominent among who participated in the Camp included Sh. R.C. Khajuria, Mrs. Kanchan Sharma & Sh. Yash Pal, Sarpanch of the area.
(b) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organised a relief distribution Camp at Dev Puri Sthal Gurha Slathian (Samba) on 16-04-2012 in collaboration with Jammu Samajak Manch, Jammu where Sh. Anil K. Padha Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu addressed the Gathering and briefed about working of Red Cross and assured to reach out to the interior areas of Samba and appealed the Youth to Volunteer themselves for such Social Work. Prominent among those who attended the Camp included Sh. Manjeet Singh Ex-Minister, Sh. Rajinder Singh, Sh. Achet Singh and Sh.O.P. Bakshi.
(c) Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu visited Distt. Red Cross Society, Kathua on 18-04-2012 and held a meeting of Red Cross Volunteers at the residence of Sh. S.D. Singh, Hony. Executive Secretary, Distt Red Cross Society, Kathua in which the ANNUAL Plan of activities was discussed.
(d) A condolence meeting was convened at Regional Red Cross Office, Jammu which was presided over by Hony. Secretary Sh. Anil K. Padha on the sad demise of Sh. S.D. Singh Hony. Executive Secretary, Distt. Red Cross Society, Kathua on 25-04-2012 and expressed grief on the sudden death of Sh. S.D. Singh who left for heavenly abode on 24-04-2012. Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu also conveyed condolence and said it was a great loss to the Red Cross family at the untimely demise of Sh S.D. Singh. Mr. Padha described him as the Pillar of strength of Red Cross, Society who served Red Cross for nearly fifty long years.
(e) One day “National Seminar on Voluntary Blood Donation” was organised by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with ISBTI J&K Chapter and J&K Aids Control Society at Dhobiwan, Srinagar on 30-04-2012 with full support of Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr. Saleem-ul-Rehman. Hon’ble Minister for Health, J&K Sh. Sham Lal Sharma was kind enough to provide free accommodation to the Delegates at Dhobiwan, Srinagar. Prominent among those who attended the Seminar included Dr. Yudhvir Singh, IAS, President ISBTI National Body, Sh. Raj Kumar, Deputy President, ISBTI, NHR from Tamil Nadu, Mrs. Vinita Shrivistava Program Officer on Blood Safety for NACO, New Delhi, Dr. Rubi Rashi, HOD Blood Bank GMC, Srinagar, Dr. Femida Akhtar, HOD Blood Bank SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar besides Sh. (a) His Excellency the Governor, J&K State (President, J&K Red Cross Society) Felicitates Red Cross supporters and sponsors for encouraging support extended by them during Red Cross Mela and Raffle Draw organized by the Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in October last year (2011) at a Felicitation Function held at Raj Bhawan, Jammu on 13-03-2012. The Governor, who is the President of Indian Red Cross Society J&K State Branch called upon corporate and business houses, philanthropic organizations and affluent sections of the society to contribute generously enlarging the resource base to give greater fillip to the Red Cross activities in Jammu & Kashmir and interacted with them. Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is the Chairman, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu gave me brief Report of the Annual Raffle Draw and Red Cross Mela in the welcome address and presented a Painting to the Governor as a memento. (b) Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu visited Attendants Sarai at Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu on 15-03-2012 to take stock of Attendants and also inaugurated water Cooler on the Ist Floor which was donated by Shri Rattan Lal Mahajan, well known Social Worker worth Rs.50,000/- for the welfare of attendants of the patients at the Sarai and appealed the other NGO Heads present on the occasion to come forward with their contributions to strengthen the Management Committee of Sarai under Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. Eight beds were also donated on the occasion for one hall by Shanti Path Trust Jammu through Col. D. K. Nanda for the 2nd floor of the attendant sarai besides 7 beds were also donated by Suvidha Nursing Home Talab Tillo, Jammu through Dr. Yudhveer Gupta.
(c) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with BEE ENN Charitable Hospital, Jammu and Hrideye Deep Ashram, Jammu organized a free Medical Camp at village Pouni Chak, Jammu on 17-03-2012 in which over 400 patients were examined and were given free medicines under the supervision of Dr. Koushaliya Samyal, Dr.Ajay Katoch, Dr.Kavita Nijon, Dr. Rupinder Kour & Dr. Rohit Sharma.Swami Hridya Nand Giri Ji was the Chief Guest in the camp and was presided over by Mr. Anil K. Padha Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. Mrs. Kanchan Sharma Vice President Young Blood Association. Sh. R.C. Khajuria, Deputy Secretary J&K Legislative Assembly and Sh. Subhash Sharma conducted three days long campaign in the area to benefit maximum patient of village Pouni Chak. Free Medicines worth Rs.12500/-(Rupees Twelve thousand five hundred) only were supplied by BEE ENN Charitable Hospital and Hrideya Deep Ashram. This was the 5th such camp in the current year.
(d) Shanti Path Trust and Regional Red Cross Society, also organized a free medical camp at village upper Jandial Block Bhalwal on 17-04-2012 in which 532 patients of different ailments were examined under the supervision of Doctors drawn from GMC, Jammu and ASCOM Sidhra, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Aids control Society, Jammu and GMC Jammu.
(e) Hony. Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu attended a workshop on Blood Safety at Lucknow on 19thand 20th March 2012 organised by National AIDS Control Organisation.
2. Feb 2012:-
(a) An awareness programme on the topic of Preventing Cancer & Raising Quality of Life on World Cancer Day was organized at Govt. Degree College, Samba in collaboration with National Rural Health Mission, J&K, Jammu on 4th of Feb. 2012.The Deputy Commissioner, Samba was the Chief Guest whereas Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was the Guest of Honour. While speaking on the occasion, Dy. Commissioner laid stress to protect from this deadly disease and hope that such awareness programmes should be organized in further also for the information of the general public. Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu also addressed to the students and motivation them to become Red Cross volunteers and help the needy patients suffering from different ailments and take measures about the risk factors of cancer. Dr. T.R. Raina, State Programme Manager, J&K Rural Health Mission also spoke on the awareness of different ailments and gave tips for keeping Good Health. Prominent among those who attended the function included Shri S.P. Sharma Principal of the College and Dr. Sumir Kaul, Distt. Facilitator from NRHM.

(b) An accidental case from Doda admitted in Govt. Medical College Hospital, Jammu was shifted to PGI Chandigarh through Critical Care Ambulance as per the directions of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu incurring a cost of Rs.32,000/- through Critical Care Ambulance hired from Maharishi Dayanand Hospital, Jammu.

(c) Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu attended Inter State Meeting of St. John Ambulance at Mumbai on 25-02-2012 and 26-02-2012 and witnessed the Annual Review Parade of Maharashtra State, St. John Ambulance Brigade No: 3 headed by Mr. Feroz Sethana, Commissioner of Brigade 3. The Chief on the occasion was Prof. Wills Marshal, Sub.Prior of the order of St. John International HQ and Ms. Gemma Malik D/C fund raising St. John International HQ, London.

(d) Red Cross Mela 2011 volunteers felicitated :
To recognize voluntary services rendered by different colleges, schools and institutions during Red Cross Mela/ Raffle Draw 2011, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized a function at Govt. PWD Guest House, Jammu on 29th Feb. 2012 which was graced by Dr, Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner (Chairman Regional Red Cross Society) Jammu lauded the efforts of volunteers for rendering support to Red Cross during the whole year and said that the success of Mela Was due to their hard work and selfless team support. He awarded certificates and momentoes to all the volunteers and institutions including jury members of various events. Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Mr. Anil K. Padha appreciated the efforts of volunteers from schools and colleges who contributed their time, talent and energy to support the Red Cross activities during the whole year as well as in the Red Cross Mela. Institutions which were honoured included Shangrilla Hr. Sec. School, Jammu, Distt . Red Cross Kathua team, BIG 92.7 FM team (Radio Partner), Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Parade, Jammu, Govt. MAM College and Govt. Degree College Paloura, Jammu. Prominent among those who attended the function included Executive Committee members of Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Annil Suri, Wg. Cdr. (Retd) M.M Joshi, Miss Sureshta Khajuria, Sh. O.P. Sharma, Mrs. Navneet Kaur, Shri Kuldeep Gupta and Mrs. Kanchan Sharma besides Principals and Professors of different schools and colleges.
1. Jan 2012:-
(a) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organised a free Medical Aid Camp at village Laswara Tehsil Bishnah about 22 K.M. from here in collaboration with Hridyadeep Ashram which benefited over 500 patients in the chilly weather. Shri Hridyadeep Giri Ji founder of the Ashram was the Chief Guest and Sh. Ashwani Kumar, Hon’ble MLA presided over the function as per the statement of Sh. Anil K. Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. Mr. Padha also disclosed that the other Voluntary Organizations i.e. BEE ENN Charitable Trust, Sant Nirankari Mandal, Shanti Path Trust and Young Blood Association have also been actively supporting such like activities of Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. A team of Doctors headed by Dr. Kaushalya Sambyal included Dr. Ajay Katoch, Dr. Kavita Nijohn and Dr. Asha besides Eye Tech. and Pharmacist from Red Cross Dispensary assisted the team of Doctors. The campaign for the camp was conducted one week advance by Sh. R.C. Khajuria, Deputy Secretary, J&K Assembly and Mrs. Kanchan Sharma, Hony. Director, Young Blood Association and also distributed relief material to the old age people of this area which includes sweaters, woolen caps, gloves and woolen socks. Medicines worth Rs. 25,000/- were also distributed to the patients donated by BEE ENN Charitable Trust and Hridyadeep Ashram, Jammu.

(a) Regional Red Cross Jammu also participated in a function on the International Disability Day on 03rd Dec 2011 held in collaboration with JRC Home for Handicapped at Uadiwala, Jammu . One hundred school bags and note books wee gifted to the disabled students who performed various games and recited poems on the occasion. The dignitaries who were presented on the occasion include Sh Nilamber Dev Sharma, Prof Lalit Mangotra, Sh Chatter Pal, Sh Anil K Padha, Mrs Rizawana, Dr Ashwini Jogra, Sh Lalit Kumar and Ms Roshan Ara. A special painting was also prepared by the disabled children under the supervision of renowned artist Sh Vijay Anand and assisted by Sh Subash Langey
(b) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized Red Cross Mela in collaboration with Govt College for Women, Parade, Jammu on 08 Dec 2011 wherein a Blood Donation Camp was also held in the college premises wherein 21 donors donated the blood, besides free blood grouping was also conducted . Thje event was inaugurated by Sh Abdul Ghani Malik, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education. Sh Anil K padha, Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu highlighted the activities of the Red Cross Society in Jammu Region and AIDS Awareness was also given among the students.
(c) Govt Degree College, Akhnoor organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu on 10 Dec 2011 wherein Mr Anil K Padha, Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Societgy, Jammu and Dr T R Raina National Secretary General ISBTI J&K Chapter was the Chief Guest and guest of Honour respectively on the occasion. Nearly 37 students including NCC Cadets, Red Cross & NSS Volunteers and staff members both teaching and Non Teaching staff were made voluntarily Blood Donation. NCC Officer Lt Anjana Sharma, NSS Cordinators Prof Rohini Jamwal Officer incharge Women Development Unit , Prof Shivni Manchanda Officer incharge Red Cross Unit, Dr Mohd Ishaq Malik were among the donors, Prof Yashpal Sharma HOD Chemistry, Prof Sanjay Kotwal, HOD Geology with other staff members donated the blood.
(d ) Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized a free medical aid camp at Village Agore, Block Bhalwal about 17 KMs from here in collaboration BEE ENN Charitable Hospital, Jammu and Hirdyadeep Ashram which benefited 500 patients under the supervision of Dr Kaushalaya Sambyal, alongwith Dr Kavita Nijohn, Dr Ropinder Kaur,& Dr Dalmani Sharma assisted by Mr Kuldeep Bhat (Eye Tech) and Shri Joginder Kumar , (Pharmacist) from Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu. Mr Anil K Padha, Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion who was received by Shri R C Khajuria, Dy Secretary J&K Assembly, Shri Ravinder Singh, Sarpanch Lower Jandial and Shri Balbir Singh, Sarpanch Upper Jandial. Mr Padha interacted with Doctors and some patients to enquire about the medical assistance required in the area. He assured the people that the patients requiring spectacles and hearing aids shall be taken care by the Regional Red Cross and asked the Doctors to refer their cases. The awareness campaign about the camp was conducted by Young Blood Association under the leadership of Mrs Kanchan Sharma, Hony Director Young Blood Association. This was 10th Free Medical Aid Camp by Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with different NGOs. The relief material was also distributed to the needy people which includes 15 Ladies sweaters, 15 gents sweaters, 15 blankets, 1woollen caps lady socks, gents socks 15 children sweaters and 15 woolen gloves for ladies and gents each and 05 Kitchen Sets, were also provided to old widows ,whereas medicines were arranged by BEE ENN Charitable Hospital, Jammu
(e) Regional Red Cross Society under the Chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu has expanded its activities at the District and Tehsil level in Jammu Region and shall extend logistic support to reach out to the interior areas for ensuring its relief operation well in ime as stated by the Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Mr Anil K Padha while presiding over the meeting of District Red Cross Committee, Rajouri under the Chairmanship of its Dy Commissioner Shri G A Khawja. The members deliberated in detail and decided to organize Red Cross Mela at Rajouri in collaboration with Degree College, Rajouri in the month of April 2012 besides initiating the process of constructing Red Cross Bhawan at Rajouri to facilitate its volunteers for first aid training programmes and stocking Relief Material as part of Disaster Preparedness. The other members who attended the meeting included the CEO, Rajouri, Sh M L Sharma, the Principal Govt Degree College, Rajouri, Prof Mushtaq A Lone, Dy CMO, Dr Fazal, Dr T R Raina, Prof Ashia Malik and Head Assistant Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Sh Ashok K Chandel.
(f) The Hony Secretary also visited Degree College, Nowshera where a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized in collaboration with 80 Inf Bde Rajouri in which 120 units of Blood was donated including the college students and Army Jawans of the Infantry Brigade under the command of Brig Balraj Mehta and assisted by Col Rajesh Singh who were among the first donors in the Camp. Prof S P Chopra Principal of the College gave the welcome address and announced the launch of Red Cross unit in their college. The others who spoke on the occasion included Brig Balraj Mehta,Sh Anil K Padha, Dr T R Raina, Dr Vijay Sawhney and Col, Rajesh Singh. The Blood was collected jointly by a team of Doctors from Govt Medical College, Jammu and Blood Bank Rajouri under the supervision of Dr Vijay Sawhney acting HOD Blood Bank, Govt Medical College, Jammu. A brief meeting was also held in the chamber of Principal Govt Degree College, Nowshera in which its was decided to organize a Red Cross Mela at Nowshera in the month of Feb 2012 supported by 80 Inf Bde of Army who have assured full support for the said event. Red Cross Society Jammu also distributed wheel chairs among poor and disabled persons from remote area of tehsil Darhal in a function held at D C Office, Rajouri. On the occasion Anil K Padha, Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu and G A Khawaja DDC Rajouri were also present who distributed the wheel chairs among the beneficiaries
(g) Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Mr Anil K Padha attended a meeting convened by Hon’ble Minister for Medical Edcuation Shri R S Chib at Govt Medical College, Jammu on 23 Dec 2011 to extend Hemophilia Care Centre at Govt Medical College Jammu besides a review of attendant sarai was also taken by the Hon’ble Minister who appreciated the Regional Red Cross Jammu form managing the Day to day affairs of Attendant Sarai.

(a) On 13 Nov 2011, a Marathon at Jammu was organized by Board of Development for Sports in Indian Wherein the paramedical Staff of Regional red Cross Society, Jammu was detailed on duty to provide First Aid to the participants of Marathon alongwith Ambulance Red Cross Volunteers from MAM College and Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu assisted the programme.

On 01 Oct 2011, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized a function to mark the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day at Govt Medical College Auditorium, Jammu in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department, Govt Medical College, Jammu and other connected NGOs such as J&K State AID Control society, ISBTI J&K Chapter, & Young Blood Assocation (Regd), Shri R S Chib, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Service and Sports was the Chief Guest besides Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS Divisional Commissioner, Jammu presided over the function in the presence of Principal Govt Medical College, Jammu Dr Rajinder Singh, Administrator Associated Hospital;s Mrs Reva Gupta and HOD Blood Babk Govt Medical College, Jammu Dr T R Raina and Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Shri Anil K padha and distributed Mementoes and trophies among the NGOs who helped for arranging Voluntary Blood Donation Camps. Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu provided refreshment to the participants.
Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized four blood donation Camps, two Blood Sugar/HB Test Camps,. six Eye Check up Camp and one Medical Aid Camp during the month under report. The detail of the beneficiaries with location of the camps and collaboration agencies/NGOs is reflected at item No 4 and 5 of the Progress Report.
Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu organized two days Mela cum Photo Exhibition at Kala Kendra, Jammu on 29th and 30th Oct 2011. The Mela was inaugurated by Shri R S Chib, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Service and Sports alongwith Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS Divisional Commissioner, Jammu besides various Department Heads, NGOs Heads and prominent citizens were present. Hon’ble MLC Shri Asgar Ali and Director School Education, Jammu Shri Gulzer Ahmed Qureshi graced in the Inter School Dance Competition and in the evening at Bhajan Sandhya Shri Ashok Khajuria, Hon’ble MLA was the Chief Guest who announced Rs 2.5 Lacs for the creation of Library and First Aid Training Centre at Red Cross Bhawan. On 30th Oct 2011 Mrs Zahida Khan, KAS, Dy Commissioner, Kathua, was the Chief Guest in the Baby Show followed by open Song Competition of 92.7 Big FM wherein Shri Annil Suri, President Bari Brahmana Industrial Asociation and Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Shri Anil K Padha graced the occasion. In the closing ceremony/Sham-e-Ghazal Shri Sham Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture was the Chief Guest. The event of Sham –E-Ghazal was performed by the artist of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu. During the two days Red Cross Mela cum Photo exhibition various stalls of eatables, game shows, Magic Show and Joy Rides were the main highlights of the event. Thousands of people of Jammu visited the Mela supported by B S F , C R P F, J K Police and other govt/private agencies.

A lecture on Voluntary Blood Donation was delivered by Hony Secretary Shri Anil K Padha at MAM College on 19th Sep 2011 followed by another lecture at Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural University, Chatha, Jammu on 21st Sep 2011.© On 26th Sep 2011 a meeting to organized Red Cross Mela was convened under the Chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner (Chairman Regional Red Cross Society), Jammu wherein concerned agencies/NGOs wee invited to make necessary arrangements for the Red Cross Mela scheduled on 29th & 30th Oct 2011.
The Hony Secretary, Shri Anil K Padha alongwith Head Assistant Shri Ashok Kumar Chandel conducted Adm Inspection of District Red Cross Committee, Samba on 28th Sep 2011 and held a meeting with Dy Commissioner, Samba Shri Mubarak Singh in his office.
The Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu celebrated National Blood Donor Day on 30th Sep 2011 in collaboration with various NGOs, Govt City College, Paloura, GGM Science College, MAM College, Commerce College and also organized Blood Donation Camp wherein 19units of blood was collected. The Divisional Commissioner (Chairman Regional Red Cross Committee), Jammu convened the meeting of Regional Red Cross Committee on 23rd Aug 2011 at 11.00 AM in his office Chamber at Rail Head Complex, Jammu which was attended by the Ex Officio members, representatives of District Red Cross Committees of Jammu Division and the members of Executive Committee. Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner (Chairman Regional Red Cross Society), Jammu welcomed the members and discussed the Agenda Points and the decisions reflected in the Minutes thereof circulated among all the concerned.
A meeting relating to Artificial Limb Centre (ALC) functioning at Govt Medical College, Jammu was held on 24 Aug 2011 in the office Chamber of the Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Committee, Jammu with the ICRC delegates wherein it was decided that ICRC shall extend support to the Artificial Limb Centre for another period of two years till 2013 and accordingly the MOU was signed and copy of the same circulated among the concerned.

A Blood Donation Camp was organized on 13 Jul 2011 in collaboration with J&K Democratic Party Nationalist at Red Cross Auditorium, Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu in which 15 units of Blood was collected. Shri Ghulam Hassan Mir, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture J&K was the Chief Guest. While speaking on the occasion he emphasized the need of Voluntary Blood Donation and also laid stress for the holding such blood donation camps in future also to save the precious lives. Mr Anil K Padha, Hony Secretary of the Society highlighted the activities of the Red Cross and thanked the organizers for holding such camps and assured all support . Dr TR Raina, HOD Blood Transfusion Department, Govt Medical College, Jammu and Shri Ajay Khajuria, Director Agriculture, Jammu were also present on the occasion.

On 07 Jun 2011 Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu under the directions of Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS Divisional Commissioner, (Chairman Regional Red Cross Society), Jammu organized a programme at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu to distribute aid among the handicapped. On the occasion a tricycle was presented to Muneer Ahmed student of Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu while one wheel Chair was provided toAnjali Devi D/O Shri Bodh R/O Bari Brahmana, Jammu. Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, Mr Anil K Padha presided over the function wherein the family members of the beneficiaries were also present besides Shri R C Sharma and Shri O P Sharma and Dr V P Sharma from Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu attended the function.
One tricycle was provided to Shri Dev Raj S/O Shri Shanga Ram R/O Batla (Fatwal), Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu at Akhnoor by Shri Sham Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, J&K State on 08 Jun 2011 in the presence of Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Mr Anil K Padha.
The Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Prevention & Control Society and ISBTI J&K Chapter organized a function to celebrate the World Blood Donor Day 2011 on 14th Jun 2011 at Govt College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in which Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest other who shared the dias include Dr Ashok Sharma, Director Health, Prof Nalini Kohli, Principal Govt College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Dr TR Raina , General Secretary ISBTI J&K National HQ, Shri Anil K Padha, Hony Secretary RRCS, Jammu, Mrs Deepika B Thakur, Dy Director J&K State AIDS Prevention & Control Society, Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu appreciated such efforts and appealed the masses particularly the youth to come forward and donate blood. He also highlighted the benefits of blood donation and later, donated the blood in the Campas 1st donor. Dr Ashok Sharma, Director Health Services, Jammu also urged the need for more blood donation to save the lives, for this he sought the cooperation of every one at all level. Dr TR Raina, HOD Blood Transfusion Department highlighted the different aspects of blood donation and urged the people to come forward and donate blood liberally. Mr Anil K Padha, Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu presented the Welcome Address and vote of thanks was given by Mrs Deepika B Thakur. Various NGOs and leading Blood Donors were honoured on this occasion which included Sant Nirankar Mandal, Jammu as the leading Blood Donating Organisation in the Jammu Region followed by NCC Jammu Region where as Young Blood Association, Jammu was adjudged as the Pioneers of Voluntary Blood Donation Movement in J&K State.
Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu visits Doda and Ramban wef 25th Jun to 30 Jun 2011.Hony Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu Mr Anil K Padha, visited Doda and Ramban Districts. As dissemination programme was organized at Govt Degree College, Bhaderwah where the Secretary motivated the Youth to volunteer themselves for Red Cross services to mitigate the sufferings of the people in distress and gave brief history of Red Cross to the students gathered on the occasion. Principal of College, Dr Mohammed Iqbal Zargar asked the college students to strengthen the Red Cross Unit of the College. Programme was also held at Govt Higher Secondary School, (Boys) Bhaderwah which was attended by the Principal Shri Ajit Singh Kotwal, Dr Nazir Ahmed Bhat and staff and students of the school. Secretary also held two different meetings with members of Executive Committee District Red Cross Doda which was attended by Dr Wahid Executive Secretary besides volunteers and other members and asked them to plan Red Cross Mela at district level and engage youth for volunteer activities. Another meeting was held with members of District Red Cross Committee, Ramban at Batote which was attended by District Executive Secretary Master Raj Singh Raju and Shri Bashir Ahmed besides other volunteers. Secretary appreciated their voluntary support especially in the accident cases in saving the lives and shifting of injured to nearby hospitals. It was also decided in the meeting to keep the relief stocks ready at the District Red Cross level keeping in view the moonson season.
