5 women and a child were among 10 persons who died while 64 others were injured and7 of them are critically injured after an overcrowded bus carrying shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims from Amritsar to Katra met with a devastating accident near a bridge at Jhajjar Kotli area.

The injured were evacuated to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu where a team of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region was already present to provide the medical as well as financial help to the victims and to the kith and kins of the deceased. The cheques tune of Rs. 5 Lacs each were handed over to them by IRCS Jammu Region on the directions of Hon’ble Lt. Governor. The 10 bodies were dispatched to their home town by the Ambulances provided by the Red Cross and other organizations.
