As a mark of respect to the founder of Red Cross Movement Sir Jean Henry Dunant, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region celebrated World Red Cross Day at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhinagar, Jammu on 8th May, 2023. Theme of World Red Cross Day 2023 is : “Everything we do comes # fromtheheart” which focuses on foregrounding the volunteers of the Red Cross and their contribution to the society.
The function started with hoisting of Red Cross Flag by the Chief Guest Sh. Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is also Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute to Sir Jean Henry Dunant Founder of Red Cross Movement in the presence of Capt. Bana Singh Param Vir Chakra awardee, Sh Rahul Yedav IAS Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jammu,Sh Shareesh Sharma President J&K Bank Ltd, Sh Ashok Kumar Sharma Director School Education Jammu, Sh. Sandeep Seiontra, Addl. Deputy Commissioner(Adm.) Jammu , Ms Mamta Rajput District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu representative from CRPF BSF, J&K Police, Educational Institutions Prominent citizens ,Former Secretaries, IRCS, Jammu Region. Executive Committee Members of IRCS, Former Red Cross Executive Committee Members and Red Cross volunteers. .
While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Sh. Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Divisional Commissioner (Chairman Indian Red Cross Society) Jammu Region emphasized to hold Red Cross Mela and also take the imitative to conduct awareness programmes on drug addiction as most of the youths become habitual of drug addiction in addition to ongoing Red Cross Activities and appreciated the efforts made by Red Cross for generating funds through Raffle Draw tickets which were sold by BSF, CRPF, J&K Police, J&K Bank, Educational Institutions Govt. Departments and Corporate / Business Houses and briefed that, there is much more scope of doing activities in more coordinated and scientifically manner being a first responder so that we reach and cover the maximum number of people who need Red Cross support.
The programme started with Pledge by the students of Jain School, Jammu and Red Cross song by Sh. Yash Pal Yash Composer followed by number of Cultural item presented by Carmel Convent Hr Sec School Kunjwani, Jammu, Govt. Girls High School, Gandhinagar, Jammu, F BSF School, Paloura, Jammu, St. Peter Hr. Sec. School, Jammu, Govt High School Chal Largan, Jammu Shangrilla Public School, Jammu and SD Memorial Hr. Sec. School, Jammu respectively.
Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region in its address welcomed Worthy Chairman, IRCS, Jammu Region, distinguished guests, dignitaries and the audience and participants for making to this event successful, He also briefed about various programme/activities carried out by the Red Cross, Jammu Region during the year 2022-23 and defined its role and responsibilities during disasters and first –aid trainings in society. It is pertinent to mentioned here and place on record that in the year 2019-20 due to Covid 19 Pandemic and restrictions thereof imposed by the J&K Govt. from time to time, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region could not hold Red Cross Raffle Draw, however, this year under the able guidance of the Worthy Chairman (Divisional Commissioner), IRCS, Jammu Region, Red Cross has been able to generate maximum funds which is very higher as compared to all previous years and the same shall be utilized to carry out the activities for welfare of poor/needy people suffering f from different ailments such as cancer , kidney, Liver, Thalasemia and other.
Besides this, the Chief Guest alongwith executive Committee Members of IRCS, and other Prominent Dignitaries also announced Red cross Raffle Draw 2023 Result . There was winner of the first prize who won Wagon R VXI for ticket number 057285 while winner of second prize who won Alto K10 LXI with ticket number 309474 Besides, there were two winners of third prize who won Royal Enfield Bullet 350 CC with ticket numbers 079528 and 051636, Fourth prize was won by two persons with ticket numbers 526902 and 092850 who won Activa Scooty 6G , 5th prize (2) HP Laptop (13+8GB who won two persons with ticket Numbers 468935 and 187612 , 6th prize (2) LG Refrigerator (340 Ltr.) ) who won by two persons with ticket numbers 538457 and 189684, 7th Prize (2) Voltas Window AC (1.5 Ton (2) who won by Two persons with ticket Numbers 318823 and 396978 , 8th Prize (3) LG LED 32” who won by three persons with ticket Numbers 347110, 362884 and 370928, 9th Prize (3) Redmi 11 Prime who won three persons with ticket numbers 047221, 099361 and 116287 and 10th prize (3) LG Microwave (20 Ltr.) who won by three persons with ticket Numbers 488188, 446950 and 284839
