Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana is a noble initiative by Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, is now making an impact on common masses in its endeavour to provide quality medicines at an affordable price, said Shri. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers.

As per Hon’ble Minister, the number of Stores has grown to more than 5050 and 652 districts are covered at present. Further, total sales in the financial year 2018-19 has crossed Rs. 256 Crore which led to total savings of approximately Rs. 1000 Crore of common citizens as these medicines are cheaper by 50% to 90% of avg. Market price. He stressed on the excellent quality of PMBJP medicines as these are procured from only WHO-GMP certified manufacturers and each batch is tested at NABL accredited independent labs.

Pradhn Mantri Jan Aushadhi Divas was today jointly celebrated at Jan Aushadhi Kendra, GMC Hospital Jammu on 7th March, 2019 by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Ms. Riffat Nazir, Nodal Officer, Jan Aushadhi, J&K. Prominent among others present were Mr.Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Mr. Iqbal Paul, Asstt. Drug Controller, Jammu and Mrs. Renuka, Asstt. Drug Controller, Samba, Dr. Shelly Mahajan, Dr. Sanjeev Dingra, Prof. (Ped.) ,Dr. Sachit Sharma, Sr.Resident, SMGS Hospital, S/Shri R. Vijay Magotra, Vinod Malhotra, Kamal Verma, Vikram Jain. On this occasion, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with owners of Janaushadhi Kendras and beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) across the country through video conference.

Various programmes organised at all PMBJP Kendras to increase the awareness about the scheme. These programmes witnessed participation of doctors, health experts, NGOs and beneficiaries.

The Janaushadhi Diwas aims to provide further impetus and create awareness about the use of generic medicines. The day also highlighted the initiatives undertaken by Government in the direction of making quality healthcare affordable for all, like Ayushman Bharat, PMBJP, etc.

The Government launched the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana to make affordable and quality generic medicines popular among the people. The Government aims to have atleast 1 PMBJP Kendra in each block of the country by 2020.
