Although we all take safety precautions in our day to day life, there is every apprehension that emergencies could be occurred at any time. For this reason, it is important to educate about First Aid so one can be prepared to act if any untoward incident takes place. Similarly, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region is continuously making its efforts to create awareness amongst the people of every age group by giving them proper timely First-Aid training so that they can minimize injury and future disability in any disastrous situation.
Similarly, four days First-Aid Training Programme was organized for the employees of Uflex, Unit 2&3, SIDCO Industrial Area, Bari Brahmana, Samba. During the various sessions, Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma, Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, from IRCS elaborated on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with first hand practical learning sessions, methods of handed fractures, rescue and transportation of patient and use of local resources during disaster along with practical field activities. Mrs. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist elaborated on wounds and basic first aid equipments, poisoning, snake bites, stings situations. The trainees were provided with requisite theoretical and practical inputs to handle real life emergency situations.

Students of B.Ed Course of National College of Education, Purkhoo Camp, Domana Jammu along with their teacher, Ms. Neetu Sharma visited Red Cross Bhawan Jammu on 10th December, 2022 to know about its core activities particularly during the period of disaster/ any eventuality like natural calamities.
Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, IRCS Jammu Region gave an elaborate detail of the role of Red Cross Society in the day to day life and doing a noble cause for needy/ poor/ sufferers World-Wide including in India and queried. Further the students enquired about how they can become the member of Red Cross and get associated with this noble organization by extending their services to down trodden and those facing distress due to manmade or natural calamities. The secretary gave them valuable information about the actual programs and services run by the society and very patiently responded and encouraged them to take part in the Red Cross Activities.
When you understand first aid, you’ll gain the ability to help those in need. To get the best out of emergency first aid, it’s important to know how and when to help someone. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region has been putting its best efforts in preparing people to respond to emergencies of all types – from the everyday to the large disaster. Similarly, a mixed batch of trainees who came for 04 days First-Aid Training w.e.f 5th Dec., to 8th Dec., 2022 including employees of Uflex Limited Unit No. 1, SIDCO Industrial Compex, Bari Brahamana, Samba, Commercial Vehicle Drivers and Red Cross Volunteers concluded today.
The highlights of the training revolved around First Aid Kit, Traumas/ Accidents, Transportation of Injured patient, Management of massive bleeding, fracture, Shock, Heart attack, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Snake biting .
Dr.Kavita Nijohn, Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officer, IRCS demonstrated keeping in mind how to handle fainting and unconscious patient. Practical of CPR/ Choking was done with active participation of all the participants. Emergency technique of handling bleeding patient, Fracture/accident victims was also emphasized. The Training was assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist.
The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist.
The training was conducted under the supervision of Sh.Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region. While interacting with the trainees, he briefed them about the very purpose of this training and how it can be a great help to others in their normal day to day life by applying the knowledge of First-Aid acquired by them. He also told them about how they can while performing their normal duties also become a hero by applying the knowledge of first-aid during any kind of mishaps/road accidents etc..
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized a function in the meeting hall of the Red Cross Society, Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu and handed over the First-Aid Certificates received from St. John Ambulance, National Head Quarters, NewDelhi to the trainees who have enrolled themselves to become the First-Aiders by Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Jammu Region. The employees of M/S Medley Pharmaceuticals Ltd, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Samba, M/S Godrej Agrovet Ltd., M/S Berger Paints Ltd., M/S Pidilite Industries, SICOP Industrial Kathua and others has received the certificates by the Hony. Secretary in the said programme . Besides this, the students of Women College for Parade, Jammu has also visited Red Cross to acquire the knowledge about the Red Cross activities and its working. Mr. Sharma has briefed the students about the activities undertaken by IRCS Jammu during peace time and natural/ manmade disaster and also asked them to spare their valuable time for the noble cause rendered by Red Cross Society. The Secretary gave them, a very supporting response and encouraged them to take part in the activities so that more help can be provided on humanitarian grounds to the downtrodden people who are facing different hardships in their life.
A Blood Donation Camp was organized by 2 J&K boys battalion and 2 J&K girls Battalion from SPMR College and Parade College at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Govt. Medical College Hospital, Jammu and Govt. hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu wherein 60 donors donated their blood.
The camp was inaugurated by Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and Col. R.S. Jasrotia. They congratulated the cadets for donating their blood for such a noble cause. They also appreciated all the cadets for being a part of this campaign and encouraged them to take part in more upcoming camps like these.

The event was organized for the first time where the Hony. Secretary briefed the members about the activities undertaken by IRCS Jammu during peace time and natural/ man made disaster and also asked certificate holders to spare their valuable time for the noble cause rendered by Red Cross Society. He also requested everyone to bring more people with them who should join this society so that more help can be provided on humanitarian grounds to the downtrodden people who are facing different hardships in their life.
Ufex Limited Unit ll, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society. Jammu Region and Blood Transfusion Department. Govt. Medical College, Jammu organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1st October, 2022 at Bari Brahmana, Jammu. The theme of this
year is “Donating Blood is an Act of Solidarity. Join The Effort And Save Lives. Besides this Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region has also started the drive for organizing Blood Donation Camps w.e.f 17” September, 2022 and organized more than 5 blood Donation Camps in different locations on the birthday Celebrations of Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Jee.
The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region Sh. Parveen Tripathi, General Manager and Sh. Ajay Chauhan HR Head. UFLEX Ltd. Unit No.ll.
While speaking on the occasion, Sh. Sat Pal Sharma appreciated the spirit of discipline, devotion and dedication of the team of M/S UFLEX Limited Unit ll who come forward and organized a blood Donation Camp on the eve of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day and requested them to Organize such type of more and more Blood Donation Camps in future also so that to maintain adequate supplies and timely access to safe blood transfusion and precious human lives. He further lauded the role of UFLEX especially to the officers/officials who donated blood voluntarily in the said camp
First aiders need to have the ability and background knowledge to deal with a wide variety of first aid emergencies which can occur at any point of time. Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized 4 days First-Aid Training Programme for the officers/ officials of M/S Saraswati Plastotech Indian Pvt. Ltd. and M/S Saraswati Agro Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana Samba, J&K w.e.f 27th to 30thSeptember, 2022.
Theoretical and practical knowledge was delivered/ demonstrated by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma, Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist along with Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS Jammu Region.
During the 4-days training course, employees were apprised of the various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, famine, basic safety equipment use, incident management. Practical demonstration covered critical skills such as how to appropriately treat someone who is bleeding, choking, or suffering from shock, Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation, ways to deal with life threatening conditions such as seizures, unconsciousness, or a non-breathing casualty. In addition, employees were shown how to handle a situation where the casualty is having a heart attack, anaphylaxis, asthma, or cardiac arrest.

As requested by the Head of Jyothy Laboratories Ltd., 4 days First-Aid training programme has been conducted by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region for the employees of the Jyothy Laboratories Ltd, Lane II, Phase II, Sidco Industrial Complex, Bari Bari Brahamana, Samba w.e.f 20th to 24th September, 2022.
The lecture was delivered/ demonstrated by Dr. Aasia Noor, Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma, Medical Officers, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist alongwith Vironica Marwah, Field Officer. The students were apprised of the various techniques of First-Aid Kit, wounds, bandages, types of fractures, bleeding emergencies, burns etc. Emphasis was laid on the Management of injuries, fracture, control of bleeding, practical demonstration of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, transfer of injured patient were done with the active participation and interaction from the students. Apart from this there were some queries made by the employees regarding the untoward situations arises in the company. The employees were found quite sincere and the training programme was quite fruitful and concluded with good positivity.

He always made sure that every employee shall be trained in a proper way about the basic First-Aid programme so that they may not face any threat to their lives in upcoming future.
