Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT organized four days First-Aid Training Programme for the employees of M/S RVS iGlobal w.e.f 16th Oct., 2023 to 19th Oct., 2023 at RVS iGlobal- RVS Informatics IT Private Ltd. Narwal Bye Pass Jammu.

During the various sessions, Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma and Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, from IRCS elaborated on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with first hand practical learning sessions, methods of handed fractures, rescue and transportation of patient and use of local resources during disaster along with practical field activities. Mrs. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist, Ms. Nazia Bano, FMPHW elaborated on wounds and basic first aid equipments, poisoning, snake bites, stings situations. The training was assisted by and Vironica Marwah, Field Officer.

The training was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, JK UT.

 

A substantial portion of the membership of Indian Red Cross Society is made up of young people. Young volunteers can make a significant contribution to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable section of the society within their local communities through Red Cross youth Programmes. Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT under the leadership of Hon’ble Lt. Governor (Hon’ble President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary IRCS JK UT, took an initiative to establish Red Cross Youth Units in every college of J&K. The main objective of this initiative is to conduct social and health awareness programmes and to encourage the youth to extend their humanitarian services to the society.  Today, on 20th Oct., 2023 a camp was organized in a Govt. Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu.

 

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Karlupia, Principal, MAM College along with Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officer, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup Pharmacist and Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS, J&K-UT. In first half of the session, the students were apprised about the benefits of youth Red Cross, how different programs and activities can be organised by the youth so that the leadership qualities among the students can be inculcate. The students were briefed about the First aid and how it can be useful to them in their daily life. Later on, the students were also made aware of Youth Red Cross Membership and forms were also distributed among the students to become members of IRCS, J&K-UT. Besides the students, some professors also took interest in the said programme.

 

In the end, Dr. Sanjay Karlupia thanked the team of Red Cross for organizing such a knowledgeable session and made sure that more and more students of his college will be registered under Youth Red Cross programme and serve the society voluntarily. The programme ended on a fruitful note.

 

The programme was co-ordinated by Prof. Meenakshi Thakur,  incharge Red Cross Unit, MAM College, Jammu and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS, JK-UT.

 

On October 13th, 2023, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT concluded four days First-Aid Training at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni Jammu for the commercial vehicle drivers and others.

The four days session included important topics like basic knowledge of First-Aid and how to provide first aid in wounds, bleeding, musculoskeletal injury, burns, heatstroke, poisoning, bites, drowning, fainting, seizures and unconsciousness. All the participants had hands-on experience of dressing the wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part, providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and transferring the victim and special sessions on Yoga and Meditation, Mental Health, Eye Check-up, etc.

The training was imparted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma and Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, IRCS, JK-UT and were assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi and  Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Supervisor Pharmacists. Besides that, a special Guest Lecture on Yoga and Meditation was given by Ms. Manjari, State Head, Childline Indian Foundation.

On the last day, the exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Sh. Joginder Kumar and Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra. The training ended with the distribution of provisional certificates.  The training was conducted under the close supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT.

 

Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT aimed at improving the healthcare and well-being of underserved communities under the presidentship of Hon’ble Lt. Governor (Hon’ble President, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT). In an effort to provide essential healthcare services to those in need, IRCS has organized a comprehensive Medical Checkup, Immunization, and Eye Checkup Camp in slum area of Maratha Colony, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu on 9th Oct., 2023 in which 70 children and adults were examined.

 The event seeks to address the healthcare disparities faced by residents in slum areas who often lack access to basic medical services. By bringing these essential healthcare services directly to the community, the Indian Red Cross Society aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the underserved.

A team Red Cross included Dr. Kavita Nijohn Verma, Medical Officer, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist, Smt. Nazia Bano, FMPHW, Sh. Kuldeep Bhat, Ophthalmologist attended the said camp. The camp included Immunization of general health assessments, vital sign measurements, eye examination and consultations to address common health concerns like sanitation, personal hygiene etc. The camp was organized under the guidance and supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K-UT.

The four days session included important topics like basic knowledge of First-Aid and how to provide first aid in wounds, bleeding, musculoskeletal injury, burns, heatstroke, poisoning, bites, drowning, fainting, seizures and unconsciousness. All the participants had hands-on experience of dressing the wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part, providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and transferring the victim and special sessions on Yoga and Meditation, Mental Health, Eye Check-up, etc.

Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT conducted comprehensive First-Aid Training at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu w.e.f 19th to 22nd September, 2023 where a diverse group of drivers and others were equipped with life saving skills.
The training aimed to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations. Participants learned critical techniques to provide immediate assistance and support until professional medical help arrives.
The training was imparted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma and Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers, IRCS, JK-UT and were assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi and Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup. Pharmacists. The training focused on the basics of first aid, and how to provide first aid in wounds, bleeding, musculoskeletal injury, burns, heatstroke, poisoning, bites, drowning, fainting, seizures and unconsciousness. All the participants had hands-on experience of dressing the wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part, providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and transferring the victim.
Besides that, a special Guest Lecture on Yoga and Meditation was included in the training by Ms. Manjari, State Head, Childline Indian Foundation which was very fruitful as it helps to improve a person’s mental well being as well as reduces stress. She also briefed on how Childline works for the protection of rights of the children from age group 0 to 18.
Apart from this, a new initiative has been introduced in the training in which free eye check-up of all the participants is being done so that it becomes easier for them to take their heavy driving license.
In the end, Mr. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT interacted with the participants and said that the organization remains committed to promoting the importance of first aid education and looks forward to continuing its impactful initiatives throughout the UT. The training ended with the distribution of Provisional Certificates.
Indian Red Cross Society, J&K is continuously conducting First-Aid Training programmes for the employees of different Institutions, drivers and general public. Likewise, today the four days First-Aid Training programme concluded i.e on 15th September, 2023.
The training was given by Dr. Kavita Nijhon & Dr. Aasia Noor, Medical Officers Red Cross assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi and Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup. Pharmacists. Theoretical classes covered topics like First-Aid Kit, wounds, bandages, types of fractures, bleeding emergencies, burns etc. Practical of choking, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), transportation of injured patients with and without head and spine injury were done.
Besides this, a special Guest lecture was arranged for the students by Ms. Manjari, State Head, Childline India Foundation (CIF) on Mediation and Mental Health and also briefed on how Childline works for the protection of rights of all children aged from 0 to 18, which is an initiative for rescuing and assisting children in distress. Their particular focus is on all children in need of care and protection, especially the more vulnerable sections, including: Victims of child sexual abuse.
In the end, Exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, & Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT.
During the last session, Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS J&K UT congratulated every participant for successfully completing their training and Provisional Certificates were also distributed to them.
Indian Red Cross Society’s First Aid training programme gives the information and the skills one need to help adults and children during many emergency situations, First-aid care is the top most priority to help people at the times of disaster.
Likewise, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT organized a four days First-Aid training programme for the Commercial Vehicle drivers and for the youth of the society. The training concluded on 8th September, 2023. During the 4 days training, different topics were covered like various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, First-Aid Kit, wounds, bandages, types of fractures, bleeding emergencies, burns etc. Emergency technique of handling bleeding patient, Fracture/accident victims was also emphasized. Highlights of the programme were how to resuscitate a patient of fainting and Cardiac Arrest. Emphasis was laid on the Management of injuries, fracture, burns, control of bleeding, practical demonstrations of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Choking.
The practical and theoretical lectures were laid by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma & Dr. Asia Noor, Medical Officers assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, & Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup. Pharmacists and Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist, IRCS, Jammu Region.
During the last day of session, Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS J&K UT interacted with all the participants personally and discussed about how their training went and was it of any use to them. Provisional certificates were also provided to the participants by him. Apart from this, he also briefed them about the organization motive and how it helps the different sections of society. The training went quite fruitful and ended on a good note.
