Sh. Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner cum Chairman, IRCS, Jammu Region provided utensils, Blankets, clothing and a financial assistance amounting to Rs.25000/- (Twenty five thousand only) to a poor differently abled couple i.e. Smt. Anita Devi & Sh. Jagdish Raj R/O Gurha Pattan Teh. Bhalwal District Jammu to solemnize the marriage ceremony of their daughter namely Miss Sushmita scheduled to be held on 13th Dec. 2018 as they do not any source of income.
The Cheque of Rs.25000/- and material was handed over to the beneficiary today at Red Cross Office, Jammu by Dr. Shelly Mahajan, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary in the presence of Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, team of Red Cross Officials and Volunteers, IRCS, Jammu.

Red Cross provided financial assistance to the border firing victim’s family

To help the family of Mr. Deepak Kumar who was working as a Porter with the Army unfortunately died on Nov. 9, 2018 due to sniper shoot from across the border, a team of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu comprising Mr. Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, Mr. Neeraj Anand, President, Chambers of Traders Federation and Member Executive Committee, IRCS and an Intern Ms. Kunika Vashishta visited village Bhalwal Bharta, Pargwal, and in the presence of SDM, Khour Mr. Devinder Kumar and Tehsildar, Pargwal Sh. Ram Pal Sharma handed over two cheques of Rs.1.00 lakh each for and on behalf of District and Regional Red Cross Societies, Jammu to Mrs. Kunti Devi Mother of deceased Sh. Deepak Kumar for livelihood of the bereaved family.

FIRST-AID TRAINING AT RED CROSS BHAWAN, CONCLUDED TODAY
To enhance the readiness and capability of personnel in dealing with unforeseen medical emergencies and from Disaster Preparedness prospective “WHAT TO DO & WHAT NOT TO DO”, a four days First-Aid Training Programme which began on 3rd Oct, 2018 was organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre concluded today on 6th October, 2018. The training was conducted for the Commercial Vehicle Drivers as well as the Red Cross Volunteers.
Possible emergency cases involving First Aid Kit, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Transportation of Injured patient, disaster Management and providing First aid for cases like bleeding, shock, choking and Disaster Management. Main focus was on the Time Management say they were explained “HOW & WHY A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.”
Theoretical and practical demonstrations were imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely, Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD Anaesthesia, Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field officer. The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist.
The training was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region.

DSCN9815DSCN9797Since Blood Donation is a great service to the mankind, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was held at Model Institute of Engineering & Technology, Kot Balwal, Jammu on October 04, 2018. Total seventy three units of Blood was donated of which 10 units were donated by staff members of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and 63 units were donated by students of MIET, Jammu . The camp was organised jointly by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Govt. Medical College Hospital, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and MIET College.

The camp was inaugurated by Sh B.C. Sharma, Dean MIET, Jammu in the presence of Sh. Syed Rizvi and Sh. Surinder Kumar, H.R. Managers, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. Mr. Vikram Sharma, Area Manager Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Jammu, Dr. Lubna from Blood Bank and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer of IRCS, Jammu Region were actively involved in the proper management of the camp.

Blood Donation Camp at Radisson Blu, Jammu

In contribution to its endeavor and unwavering commitment to serve the community, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department, Govt. Medical College Hospital, Jammu organized a Blood Donation Camp on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti i.e. 2nd Oct, 2018 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Jammu.

A total number of 53 units were voluntarily donated by Sh. Chander Bhushan Singh, General Manager and the other staff members of the hotel. The camp was conducted in the very presence and with the active involvement of Ms. Neha, H.R. of the Hotel, Dr. Salvi, team of Blood Bank and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer of IRCS, Jammu Region and Sh. R.Vijay Magotra, Social activist.

The training was conducted for the faculty as well as the students of the said college.

Sh. S.P. Sarwat, principal Govt. Degree College, Reasi, inaugurated the camp and was coordinated by Mr. Sunil Mangotra. This kind of initiative taken by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region was highly appreciated by the Principal, staff and all the student participants and they offered their full support .
Theoretical and practical demonstrations were imparted by the Sr. Consultants namely, Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD Anesthesia, Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi Sup. Pharmacist and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field officer. The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist.

Dr. T R Raina, vice president, National Chapter of ISBTI on the occasion enlightened the students on the myths and benefits of blood donation,” the statement said. A demonstration of relaxing techniques was also conducted for students to invigorate themselves during stressful situations.
The statement further said after the interactive session blood donation camp began at around 10 am and continued up to 1 pm. A thorough medical check-up of potential donors was conducted. There was an enthusiastic participation not only by the students but also by the staff and faculty members, it reads.

Satwari Cantt., Jammu under the aegis of St. John Ambulance (India), Regional Centre concluded today on 13th Sept., 2018.

In addition, a Special Interactive session to the families of the Army personnel’s on Immediate First Aid which included First Aid Kit, Management of Medical Emergencies, Disaster Management, Transportation of Injured Patients, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) etc. was also held which was highly appreciated.

Capt. Anurag (Medical Officer) Domana, Jammu also visited the camp and interacted with the trainee participants.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region. The Army Officers said it is a very good initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society and offered their full support in such like activities for the benefit of the Army personnel’s as well as civilians.

All the trainee participants were taught that in case of accidents and medical emergencies “what to do & what not to do” besides basic tit-bits.Mmain focus was on the time management say they were explained “HOW & WHY A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.” they were also motivated to observe the standard traffic rules & regulations and to be a good citizen like.
The training was imparted by a team of experts’ i.e.Dr. Rashmi Sharma Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Dr. Shelly Mahajan, MD Anesthesia assisted by Smt. Kanchan Devi, Supervisor Pharmacist. The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Red Cross Dispensary, Jammu assisted by Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist.
Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region briefed the participants about the functioning of Red Cross society and how they can also be of big help to others during any Medical emergencies/accidental victims and can save precious lives of others by applying the knowledge acquired during the training. He also appealed them all to be associated with red cross and share the benefits of having the first-aid training programme among their friends/relatives.
